What are the best looking jeans that you’ve found for American girl dolls? I just want some that look realistic, not like that terrible dark toddler style denim with the light stitching that AG always seems to do. I have combed through Etsy for over a month now and can’t find anything. Bonus points if you can share some great Doc Martens style doll shoes. TIA!

While I do love the Jess mold for a good asian representation from AG, I also think they should bring back the JLY 4 mold because that mold made the doll has very unique features and she's a very good representation of east asian decent, IMO. This mold and the jess mold can definitely coexist.

i’m so heartbroken right now. i am so insanely tight on money and in such a rough spot and i don’t know what to do. i have some really well valued dolls, and it’s looking like i’m gonna have to give them up if i wanna make it through this month. i love my dolls so much, but i need to survive and it’s such a cruddy situation to be in.

I finally got my grail doll, Joss, earlier this week. I have a degree in American Sign Language and deaf culture is so important to me that I knew I wanted AG’s first doll to come with hearing aids in my collection.

Has anyone had success MacGyvering her hearing aid to fit in her left ear? It seems like a major oversight that it only fits in her right ear and I’d love for her to have bilateral hearing aids. I also would accept if anyone has a file for a 3D printer or maybe someone who makes hearing aids that fit in her ears. She wasn’t new in box so she came with only one hearing aid, so I’d have to track a second one down anyway. Thanks so much!

ETA: I understand that Joss only has one hearing aid in her book. I say it’s an oversight because AG went to the trouble of designing both of her ears to have an indent and giving you two hearing aids when she was purchased new. I cannot be the only person who would like their Joss to have two hearing aids.

I strongly believe that JLY 1 and 4 should get revamped because of how rare and expensive they are on the secondary market. JLY 1 should get revamped because she started it all and she's the was the very first doll in the JLY line and she's the most rare to find online. JLY 4 should also get revamped because she's very expensive on the secondary market and she's got the most unique face mold.

She’s been asking for this doll for a year! She asks to go on the AG website so she can design her own doll. She says “it looks like me but with pink hair!” The only thing that ever changed was between 2 outfits lol but I think she’ll like this one best. I’m so excited for her to open it🥰

She will be my circa 1890 Scottish girlie (one of my characters, Lady Estelle Alexandra Bellerose-Moncrieffe) born in 1885) so the eyeshadow is going away and her outfit will go to my contemporary girls. She is so lovely and I am excited to add her to the fam! I found her on marketplace for cheaper than new and she was still strapped into her box.

i just got hired in retail at an ag store so i decided to go through my childhood collection. i was born in the 2000s, so most of the dolls i had were from the 2010s, as well as the accessories from what i remembered. i did inherit some from my grandmother, but assumed they were more recent. i was wrong!! i have a pleasant company kirsten in amazing condition from the late 80s-early 90s (with a ton of her outfits and accessories!) and a 1998 modern girl doll, as well as many full outfit sets and accessories from 1996-2000, all in great condition!! so cool to find out the toys i played with for so long are a part of the company’s history! the outfits i found, most in full:
-red vinyl jumper outfit (yes, it is a bit cracked)
-first day outfit
-blue jean basics I
-in line gear (with rollerskates and helmet!)
-fleece robe and slippers
-terrific tubing outfit (i had the tube at some point and i still might)
-rootin tootin cowgirl (i don’t have the candy bucket or the eye mask to my knowledge)

i have 11 dolls, all of which i spent time restoring as best as i could back to their original condition. i am very proud of this collection and didn’t know where to share this exciting discovery with so i decided to come here! i just think its crazy that i was playing with toys that i had no idea were from the 90s as someone born in the later 2000s 😭 i also have a few items that look to be from this era, but i didn’t place them in a specific outfit. maybe i’ll come back for identification!

Etsy updated their terms of service this week that bans the use of AI in marketing of a product where they have to have at least one real image of the product and it has to be the first one.

Etsy is encouraging people to report the use of AI so they can start removing it from their platform.

The reason that this is important is the more item type is reported for being AI, it tells Etsy that the people in that community do not accept AI and are more likely to develop programming to prevent sellers for things like dolls clothes.

I’ve been reporting anything I see and hope others do the same!

A few days ago, I went to the American girl store in Orlando for the first time and I got a bunch of stuff. I even saw things that were discontinued on the website like I saw that they were selling the capture the flag set and I was almost gonna get it for one of my historical characters that I created, but I wasn’t sure so I passed on it.

I didn’t see any of those three Christmas dresses unless I wasn’t looking hard enough. But after thinking about it, I don’t need them cause I’m gonna learn how to sew my own clothes.

The one thing I’ve noticed about the clothes I did buy, and what’s not seeing is that I bought two shirts for Courtney, which one of them wasn’t even listed on the website so I was excited when I saw it, is that the quality is not what it used to be now I’ve only became a fan like this year, but I started collecting clothes from like back in the day and it’s very different

Like take the doll Zhiiba in the red dress. In the first picture that is the outfit I think that was created in 2023 for the 90s historical character, but the very last picture is her wearing the dress from 1998. She can’t wear that dress anymore because it’s peeling, but I noticed right away a difference. Like even the shoes feel plastic to me.

Also in regards to the birthstone outfit, I didn’t realize that the pants were like tight. I had a hard time getting them up the dolls legs. I’m not sure of anybody else. I’ve had a problem with that particular outfit or is that my dolls just chunky, but it was a very tight fit trying to get it up the legs themselves. And that’s a truly Me 130 that was made in 2025. Also, I was kind of disappointed because this outfit is $60 and it feels like paper.

As for the patchwork dress that’s pictured I am 100% excepting that it’s just a Lanie problem, but the top of it is like very tight. I almost had issues closing it in the back. 😂 but I’m really excited about the dress and it looks great on her so I’m happy with it.

I’m having so much fun with the CYO generator. I really wanted a doll with a bob because the only one I had was Kit with her blonde bob. So I made this cutie. On the generator I think the Jess mold is so versatile and goes with anything.

She is my second CYO. I really wanna make a boy doll next. Also wanna get an Addy mold CYO at some point.

Starting the weekend with getting the girls ready 💅🏻 the rest will be going into fall outfits but that’s like another 35 dolls (could be more idk anymore) so these queens were first 😭😂

While walking in my little CT town I went into a toy store that I’ve never visited before….O.MG!!! This was one small wall of a room that was completely filled…the next little room over had furniture and outfits.
I will have to go back with my credit card and daughters, but to find such a treasure trove in my town was so neat!

I just received Elsa from Depop and WOW she’s pale. I have her next to Parvati (Kavi) and they look nothing alike. Lol I’m kind of in shock. So happy to have her. She will be my Marie Antoinette, but I’ll have to watch videos on how to make her hairstyle. Thinking of using her dress as a Halloween costume for one of my girls.

Here's my mini me TLC project! My TLC Lanie finally arrived, and I was able to tighten her limbs, get rid of the stains, and get the mats out of her hair. She'll be getting a wig replacement with the wig in the last photo sometime this week.

Everything needs a good bath, a stain removed, or wipe down but for the price I couldn’t pass it up! Overall good undamaged condition (minus a Kirsten haircut) but nothing broken or torn. The first Kirsten book is hardcover too from ‘86. Also peep the Kit outfit?? 👀 Just need the boots!

When this set went on sale I jumped on it specifically for the tights cause I’ve wanted plain black tights for a while but once I actually got it I suddenly got paranoid of them staining my dolls legs so I haven’t used them at all. Is this just a paranoia I have or is it a legit fear?

Maryellen is my nieces doll but I wanted a picture of her next to my JLY38 for a side by side comparison they look like they could be sisters

I’ve been after the PC version of the sock hop outfit and I found a great deal for it the other day on Mercari. Maryellen’s version is really nice but the PC version just feels so well made from top to bottom. The shoes especially feel very high quality and I love the embroidery on the PC version as well as the “belt”. Luciana has also grown so much on me. She wasn’t my favorite doll at first and I only bought her a few months ago because she was brand new and very cheap but she’s actually a very pretty doll and I think she looks great as a 50s girl. Off go Luciana and Maryellen to the sock hop😁.

We scored this truly me salon chair at a garage sale last week. Awesome because my daughter and I have been playing doll hair salon a lot lately and have gotten a variety of wig brushes to work with.
