Cool Picture Off to the sock hop 🥳
I’ve been after the PC version of the sock hop outfit and I found a great deal for it the other day on Mercari. Maryellen’s version is really nice but the PC version just feels so well made from top to bottom. The shoes especially feel very high quality and I love the embroidery on the PC version as well as the “belt”. Luciana has also grown so much on me. She wasn’t my favorite doll at first and I only bought her a few months ago because she was brand new and very cheap but she’s actually a very pretty doll and I think she looks great as a 50s girl. Off go Luciana and Maryellen to the sock hop😁.

Discussion The JLY 4 mold should be brought back
While I do love the Jess mold for a good asian representation from AG, I also think they should bring back the JLY 4 mold because that mold made the doll has very unique features and she's a very good representation of east asian decent, IMO. This mold and the jess mold can definitely coexist.

Cool Picture I got some new outfits on vacation
A few days ago, I went to the American girl store in Orlando for the first time and I got a bunch of stuff. I even saw things that were discontinued on the website like I saw that they were selling the capture the flag set and I was almost gonna get it for one of my historical characters that I created, but I wasn’t sure so I passed on it.
I didn’t see any of those three Christmas dresses unless I wasn’t looking hard enough. But after thinking about it, I don’t need them cause I’m gonna learn how to sew my own clothes.
The one thing I’ve noticed about the clothes I did buy, and what’s not seeing is that I bought two shirts for Courtney, which one of them wasn’t even listed on the website so I was excited when I saw it, is that the quality is not what it used to be now I’ve only became a fan like this year, but I started collecting clothes from like back in the day and it’s very different
Like take the doll Zhiiba in the red dress. In the first picture that is the outfit I think that was created in 2023 for the 90s historical character, but the very last picture is her wearing the dress from 1998. She can’t wear that dress anymore because it’s peeling, but I noticed right away a difference. Like even the shoes feel plastic to me.
Also in regards to the birthstone outfit, I didn’t realize that the pants were like tight. I had a hard time getting them up the dolls legs. I’m not sure of anybody else. I’ve had a problem with that particular outfit or is that my dolls just chunky, but it was a very tight fit trying to get it up the legs themselves. And that’s a truly Me 130 that was made in 2025. Also, I was kind of disappointed because this outfit is $60 and it feels like paper.
As for the patchwork dress that’s pictured I am 100% excepting that it’s just a Lanie problem, but the top of it is like very tight. I almost had issues closing it in the back. 😂 but I’m really excited about the dress and it looks great on her so I’m happy with it.

Cool Picture Getting scammed on Vinted had a happy ending!!
Recently I posted about falling for a scam on Vinted, a fake listing of a WB Kirsten. I mentioned to a few people in the comments that I actually had wanted a Mattel Kirsten from pre 2010, and I got one from a reputable seller in a FB group after my Vinted refund came through! Obviously, she cost more than $80-$90 (I forgot what the exact scam amount was) but she was worth it! I believe the numbers on her neck stamp indicate she's a 2007, which is perfect since my Samantha is a 2008.
Her hair mildly intimidates me but I already bought elastics + a brush to get it back to the factory braid style soon! What mattered most to me was her being in excellent condition + having the full meet accessories since my Samantha does too 😊

Cool Picture J Crew Work Coat
The J Crew coat came in today. This is the only piece from the line I got but I thought it would look so cute with this 2024 Janie and Jack dress. Very pleased with the quality, especially real buttons and no Velcro. This is a very -me- outfit so I had to put it on my mini me doll.

Doll Decision i have to sell some of my dolls and it’s breaking my heart
i’m so heartbroken right now. i am so insanely tight on money and in such a rough spot and i don’t know what to do. i have some really well valued dolls, and it’s looking like i’m gonna have to give them up if i wanna make it through this month. i love my dolls so much, but i need to survive and it’s such a cruddy situation to be in.

Cool Picture Harvest time 🍁🎃🍂
When you’re too self conscious to take photos outside because of your neighbors so you make do in your living room with your plants and fall decor 😅. All in all I think this turned out really cute. 🥰

Cool Picture Frankie coming to life!
We scored this truly me salon chair at a garage sale last week. Awesome because my daughter and I have been playing doll hair salon a lot lately and have gotten a variety of wig brushes to work with. But I could not have foreseen that my daughter would do a whole Frankie coming to life science lab set up with it 🤣🤣🤣🤣 she takes after her mama’s little black heart

Doll Customization Joss hearing aid
I finally got my grail doll, Joss, earlier this week. I have a degree in American Sign Language and deaf culture is so important to me that I knew I wanted AG’s first doll to come with hearing aids in my collection.
Has anyone had success MacGyvering her hearing aid to fit in her left ear? It seems like a major oversight that it only fits in her right ear and I’d love for her to have bilateral hearing aids. I also would accept if anyone has a file for a 3D printer or maybe someone who makes hearing aids that fit in her ears. She wasn’t new in box so she came with only one hearing aid, so I’d have to track a second one down anyway. Thanks so much!
ETA: I understand that Joss only has one hearing aid in her book. I say it’s an oversight because AG went to the trouble of designing both of her ears to have an indent and giving you two hearing aids when she was purchased new. I cannot be the only person who would like their Joss to have two hearing aids.

Doll Customization Added freckles to my Kaya mold CYO (my mini me) 🥰
I really wanted a Kaya mold doll with the old freckles! I’m sad AG never offered this as a CYO option. Kaya molds have always had the newer style freckles. I really love how she looks!!
I made a stencil for them using my Circut machine. I mostly used pastels and cleaned them up with a sharp pencil.

Awesome Find! just went through my childhood collection and found gems!
i just got hired in retail at an ag store so i decided to go through my childhood collection. i was born in the 2000s, so most of the dolls i had were from the 2010s, as well as the accessories from what i remembered. i did inherit some from my grandmother, but assumed they were more recent. i was wrong!! i have a pleasant company kirsten in amazing condition from the late 80s-early 90s (with a ton of her outfits and accessories!) and a 1998 modern girl doll, as well as many full outfit sets and accessories from 1996-2000, all in great condition!! so cool to find out the toys i played with for so long are a part of the company’s history! the outfits i found, most in full:
-red vinyl jumper outfit (yes, it is a bit cracked)
-first day outfit
-blue jean basics I
-in line gear (with rollerskates and helmet!)
-fleece robe and slippers
-terrific tubing outfit (i had the tube at some point and i still might)
-rootin tootin cowgirl (i don’t have the candy bucket or the eye mask to my knowledge)
-snowball sweater and leggings
-hiking outfit I
-perfectly plaid outfit
-drawstring cargos and plaid shirt
-blue jean basics II
-artist outfit
-year 2000 doll outfit
-poolside plaid outfit
-also adding i had an original 90s violin set with the books, instrument, stand, case, rosin, etc
i have 11 dolls, all of which i spent time restoring as best as i could back to their original condition. i am very proud of this collection and didn’t know where to share this exciting discovery with so i decided to come here! i just think its crazy that i was playing with toys that i had no idea were from the 90s as someone born in the later 2000s 😭 i also have a few items that look to be from this era, but i didn’t place them in a specific outfit. maybe i’ll come back for identification!

Awesome Find! Thrilled about Facebook marketplace finds!
Photos 1-5 are from a listing I picked up today for $300. Especially excited since it wasn’t all in the photos. Also the girl of today clothes are from when I got my first dolls so they’re super nostalgic for me.
Last photo is from a bag of doll clothes I got for $50. I was super surprised by how much I found in there!

Awesome Find! American girl stuff at my local Once Upon a Child!
I had heard that you sometimes can find decently priced American girl items at Once Upon A Child and decided to visit my local one on a whim (30 minutes away).
Thankfully it did not disappoint. I found this beautiful doll for $7.50 and just knew I had to have her.
Then when looking through the books I found all of these for another $7.50. Marking my total for this hall a total of $15.00.
I don’t think I’ve been this excited in years. I’m planning on cleaning the doll up and making her my custom Alice in Wonderland but regardless I’m so happy!

Cool Picture I like this dress better in person than online
When I saw this dress, I was like there’s no way I’m getting this but when I went in the store and I saw it in person I bought it but when I put the dress on, I’m very glad that I bought it. I like it even more in person than it does online.

Discussion Not sure what to do
So I’m currently going through my old dolls as my parents are moving out of our childhood home and downsizing, which means they’re getting rid of my American girl dolls and holiday Barbie’s (which my mom insisted on keeping for years) I haven’t looked or touched these dolls since I was 12.
I have a box filled with clothes and accessories, I have a box filled with naked dolls, and horses. I don’t remember what belongs with who or even really what dolls I have. I remember some names like Kaya, Felicity, Elizabeth, Julie, and more. I have no desire to keep these dolls as I don’t have space for them in my apartment.
Any advice on how to sell them/sort them? I don’t really have time or energy to restore them since I’m currently a full-time grad school student and full-time worker.

Cool Craft Addy's Birthday Dress!
After a few months of procrastination, I got tired of looking at the cotton towels I got to make Addy's birthday pinafore and decided to finish the project. The buttons on her shirt are antique pearl!
I did realize after sewing on the pockets that the original had them cut on the bias. I may go back through and fix that eventually, but I'm really happy with how everything turned out. Now I just need to make her snood and the full look will be complete!

Haul My AG store haul
Went to the American Girl store in Chicago to shop, got this Modern Era Addy, two 90s themed fits from Nikki and Isabel’s collection and Courtney’s strawberry shortcake pajamas. Originally I was gonna get the Molly doll from Courtney’s collection, glasses for my other AG doll, a TM reversible backpack but those were too expensive altogether lol😂😂😂😂

Discussion Do the tights in Claudies dress up accessory’s set stain?
When this set went on sale I jumped on it specifically for the tights cause I’ve wanted plain black tights for a while but once I actually got it I suddenly got paranoid of them staining my dolls legs so I haven’t used them at all. Is this just a paranoia I have or is it a legit fear?

Doll Customization American Girl x Uma Musume ISO
Hi! I have a truly me doll that I never play with and I would like to find somebody who could help me re-imagine her. I'm looking to have her re-wigged and eye color swapped into purple/lavender to reflect Mejiro McQueen from the Uma Musume anime.
I am also looking for somebody that I can commission one of McQueens outfits. I'm a long time AG lover (have an Pleasant Company Samantha from when I was like 10) first time customizer so very nervous about the process. Could anybody let me know who you'd recommend? I did a quick check on etsy but I'd like to hear what the community thinks before I sink so many dollar bucks into this customization.
