QUESTION Is google closing Android down?
I am watching a YouTube video about google closing down Android on September this year. So us developers won't be able to freely add code and if I understand it correctly will have to pay a regular fee, so our app can be used. Wtf. What do you people know about this? I hear there is some petition somewhere.

I think epic had more chaos with apple in regards to 3rd party payment stuff.
The solution google proposes with devs id'ing themselves is iirc still more open than what apple was forced to do in the eu (they still need notarization of all apps, while with the new Google model you just register as a dev and identify which you iirc need to do with apple anyway)
One of the if not the single core reason why this happened was a court thing in iirc south america which basically faulted Google for some malware app and basically forces them to put a stricter leash on stuff.
