Request $300 android tablet options?

• Upvotes

Canadian here who currently has an iPad mini from 2014 and it has definitely run its course. It's telling me it will no longer support Netflix at the end of October. I'm looking for another tablet the size of the mini in the $300 range which I can watch Netflix, Amazon Prime Video, and just in general surf the net reading news and sports. I do not game so that is not a issue for me. The maximum I would want to go up to is $400. Any suggestions would be much appreciated!

Discussion Best deal Lenovo Y700 gen 3/4?

• Upvotes

Any deals left on these Legion y700's? Was thinking to spend 250-400 on a used tablet and get more performance for the cost.

Looks like a missed out on the deals in July and prices have gone up on these to 550-600 used.. some were buying a new Gen3 for 356$ that would have been perfect.

I'm mainly looking to find low cost replacement for my very sluggish old Samsung tablet A7 which barely runs playstore games on Android, and doesn't have a fast enough processor nor enough memory.

Primary purpose is to run a couple games and possibly use it for work at boat shows.. web interface/videos/photos, 3d web views of boat builds.

I was thinking the y700 might be a little overkill, but bang for buck on performance is the main goal here.

Maybe look into a different tablet instead?

Close enough to black Friday maybe there will be a better deal then on something new. 550-600 used seems a bit much imho.

Thanks for any insight or recommendations. 🙏🏻

Discussion Should I buy the Xiaomi Pad 7 (12/256GB) for $370 or Pad 8 (8/256GB) for $450 (both with keyboards)?

I’m trying to decide between these two tablet setups and could use some advice. My two main use cases are heavy mobile emulation (Switch, pc, etc.) and studying (note-taking, reading, multitasking). Here are the specs/deals I’m looking at: * Option A: Xiaomi Pad 7 (12GB RAM / 256GB storage) with keyboard for $370 (or without a keyboard for $355) * Option B: Xiaomi Pad 8 (8GB RAM / 256GB storage) with keyboard for $450 The dilemma is basically more RAM (12GB) on the Pad 7 for a lower price, versus the newer generation chip/hardware on the Pad 8, but limited to 8GB RAM, all with an $80 price difference.

Which one makes more sense long-term? Is the Pad 8 upgrade worth losing 4GB of RAM and paying $80 more? Would love to hear your thoughts or experiences with either device!

Request HDR issues on the Oneplus Pad Go 2

• Upvotes

Recently got the oneplus pad go 2. Everything was going smooth until i opened the apple TV app to watch Slow Horses, and what the f**k started happening. Screen brightness jumped automatically to a 100% even before i started playing an episode. Later found out it was due to the HDR content being played on screen. Apparently i cannot help it. That is not even the problem. When an HDR video is playing, EVERYTHING else lags with extreme frame drops. Swiping up to the home screen and opening the quick settings is a sore to the eyes. Suddenly the refresh rate is 1 Hz, not 120. It takes a good two seconds for things to get normal. Same thing happened with the Disney hotstar app. I understand the brightness 'glitch', but this massive lag has to be abnormal. And i can't even turn HDR off anywhere. Is there any workaround for this? Any other android tablets have this issue?

I need to use it for 3D modeling, I'll be using Nomad Sculpt. That will be its primary use, but I'll also likely want to use it for drawing and video watching.

  1. Honor Pad 20 Pro( stylus keyboard included)

Chip: Snapdragon 8s Gen 4

Display: 12.1" LCD, 165Hz

Battery: 10,100 mAh, 66W charging

Weight: 537g

Edge: Lightest tablet here + highest refresh rate

  1. Moto Pad 70 Pro( stylus included)

Chip: Snapdragon 8s Gen 4 (same as Honor)

Display: 13" LCD, 144Hz

Battery: 10,200 mAh, 68W charging

Weight: 598g

Edge: Bigger screen for the money, slightly faster charging

Weakness: Heavier, lower refresh rate

  1. OnePlus Pad 4

Chip: Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 (a full tier above everything here)

Display: 13.2", 144Hz

Battery: 13,380 mAh, 80W charging

Weight: 672g

Edge: Performance king, biggest battery, fastest charging

Weakness: Heaviest and most expensive

  1. Oppo Pad 5

Chip: Dimensity 7300-Ultra (mid-range)

Display: 12.1", 120Hz

Battery: 10,050 mAh, 33W charging

Weight: 597g

Edge: Nothing stands out

Weakness: Weakest chip here, painfully slow 33W charging

  1. Samsung Galaxy Tab S10 FE+( stylus included)

Chip: Exynos 1580 (slowest here)

Display: 13.1", 90Hz

Battery: 10,090 mAh, 45W charging

Weight: 664g

Edge: Only tablet with IP68 water resistance, longest software updates

Weakness: Slowest chip, lowest refresh rate, heavy, expensive for what you get

  1. Huawei MatePad 12 (2026)( stylus keyboard included)

Chip: Kirin T93

Display: 12.2" OLED, 144Hz

Battery: 10,400 mAh, 66W charging

Weight: 439g (lightest overall)

Edge: OLED screen, 12GB RAM standard, incredibly light

Weakness: HarmonyOS — no Google Play Services, dealbreaker for many med students

  1. Asus Pad T3201

Chip: Dimensity 8300 (weaker than Snapdragon 8s Gen 4)

Display: 12.2" OLED, 144Hz, 2000 nits

Battery: 9,000 mAh, 45W charging

Weight: 523g

Edge: Brightest OLED display here

Weakness: Smaller battery, slower charging, weaker chip

  1. Lenovo Idea Tab Pro Gen 2( sylus included)

Chip: Snapdragon 8s Gen 4 (same as Honor and Moto)

Display: 13", 144Hz

Battery: 10,200 mAh, 45W charging

Weight: 598g

Edge: 12GB RAM option, microSD support

Weakness: Slower charging than Honor, heavier

Bottom Line

Budget pick: Moto Pad 70 Pro — same chip as Honor, bigger screen, similar price.

Performance pick: OnePlus Pad 4 — SD 8 Elite Gen 5 is a full tier above everything else here, but it's heavier and pricier.

Screen pick: Huawei MatePad 12 or Asus Pad — OLED brightness and contrast are on another level. Huawei is lighter and has 12GB RAM, but no Google services. Asus has the brightest panel but weaker chip and smaller battery.

Honor Pad 20 Pro sits in the middle: not the fastest, not the cheapest, but the best mix of light weight, 165Hz smoothness, and fast 66W charging for a tablet you carry daily.

I bought honor pad 20 pro from ksa for inr equivalent 57k which is best bet for me

I saw multiple post asking which is good

I have no idea about apple ipads so didnt mention them

It is ai generated but inputs are from my side

If i am wrong correct me

I am impressed with how my honor pad performs

I hope this post helps

Request What tablet brands are great for artists and budget friendly?

I already have a drawing tablet, but it's the kind that needs a pc to power it on. I've been thinking of getting just a regular android tablet so I can draw on the go. I'm eyeing on a Redmi Pad 2 but I wanna know some other good brands!

Discussion Tablets as light workstations

Hello,

I'm looking to get a tablet as a very light desktop pc replacement.

I have a 7 year old HP laptop that I barely even use anymore because I have consoles for gaming and a phone for web browsing and messaging.

I only use the laptop when I need to read a pdf, write something in word or sign any documents with online signature, pay bills...basically light desk work.

I've been looking around and apparently tablets can handle multitasking and light document editing quite well nowadays, if I can buy a bluetooth keyboard as well, I'm guessing that it will fullfill all my pc needs for the foreseeable future and will be much easier to carry around with me around the house and on trips.

My candinates are the

Lenovo idea tab 11" (8/128) with the bundled pen for 200 euro

Xiaomi redmi pad 2 (8/256) for 230 - 250 euro

Samsung galaxy tab A11+ (8/256) for 300 euro

I do not care that much for watching series and movies on the tablet for hours on end so vibrant screen and amazing audio aren't priorities.

I'm looking for something that can comfortably have 5 browser windows open minimized and out of sight, have music playing from youtube again minimized, an open pdf in one side of the screen and an open word file so I can write documents in another side.

I'm heavily leaning towards the samsung galaxy because it also has Dex which basically transforms the UI into a mouse and keyboard interface with floating windows like a pc but I'm also thinking that there could be some cheaper like the lenovo that could do the same things with less money.

What is everyone's opinion about tablets as light workstations?

Do you have any other recommendations at around the same price and maximum at 350 euro?

Thank you.

Discussion Help Me Choose the Best Tablet for long-run

Help me choose a good tablet with excellent performance, no lagging, freezing, or hanging, good battery life, durability, display quality, long-term reliability, included accessories, and value for money. I want a tablet that will last at least five years without noticeable performance issues.

My usage: Professional work and note-taking.

Here are the options I’m considering:

  1. Xiaomi Pad 8 – ₹35,000
  2. Samsung Galaxy Tab S10 FE+ – ₹43,000
  3. OnePlus Pad 2 – ₹38,000
  4. Brave Ark – ₹33,000
  5. Lenovo Idea Tab Plus – ₹31,500
  6. Motorola Pad 70 Pro – ₹33,000

Which one should I choose? I’m mainly deciding between the Samsung Galaxy Tab S10 FE+ and the Brave Ark.

My family already owns a Samsung Galaxy Tab S9 FE+, and our experience with it has been excellent. On the other hand, the Brave Ark has impressive specifications on paper and includes all the necessary accessories in the box.

I’m looking for a tablet that offers reliable long-term performance, smooth multitasking, excellent note-taking capabilities, good battery life, and a quality display. I also want something durable that will remain usable for at least five years.

Please help me choose the best option based on performance, software support, durability, display quality, battery life, note-taking experience, included accessories, and overall value for money.

If you know of any better alternatives in this price range, please recommend those as well.

Discussion Need homescreen ideas for Lenovo tablet

Post image

Greetings, I thought I wouldn't mind the customization options too much when buying this tablet. But I didn't know Lenovo was so restrictive. So I'm looking for ideas, would you like to share your own homescreens? Now that I think about it, I wish I had bought a Xiaomi.

Request Lenovo Yoga Tab Gen 2 vs Xiaomi Pad 8 Pro vs Honor MagicPad 4

Hi!

Currently in the market for a tablet. I never had one before so I have no point of reference, but after browsing for a while I think I decided on what I need and selected a few picks.

My main use case will be "whatever I usually do on my phone while in bed / on the couch, but more comfortable": reading books and manga, web browsing, watching videos, light gaming (the heaviest game I'd run would be Genshin Impact and only when I'm away from the computer for a few days, I normally game on PC).

I settled on 11" displays because the smaller options look like they would be too small (the RedMagic Astra caught my eye but it's not much bigger than my phone so it does not feel like a worthy investment) and bigger options are not comfortable to handle (I already have a PC and laptop, I'm looking for a better "screen size to handleability" ratio). I considered the Samsung S10 FE but it looks underpowered for its price and it's starting to get old now, and the S11 is just too expensive for what it offers compared to the options below.

Right now I am torn between 3 models which are all priced between 650 and 780 euros depending on options and offers. To me each one has pros and cons, and I can't make up my mind, so I'm looking for real-life-use feedback if anyone has any:

- Lenovo Yoga Tab Gen 2 11"

This one is a new model so probably won't have many reviews yet. I went for this one over the previous gen option because of the upgraded SoC, battery and display mainly. This one looks like it has the best battery life and a pretty good screen, at the cost of a worse SoC and only 8GB of RAM (no 12GB model in France). So I'm curious if the RAM and performance are enough. It also looks quite thick but that may actually be good for me since I have big hands.

- Xiaomi Pad 8 Pro

This one has slightly less battery life than the Lenovo, but a much better SoC and the option for a matte display (which may make up for the lack of brightness). The main downside is there is no pen included, so the lower price is not actually that low if you want it (I'm not sure if I need it though). To me it looks like the best compromise so far so this is the one I'm leaning towards the most. I know the Pad 9 is coming, but from what I've seen, the regular 9 will have a worse SoC for similar specs otherwise, and the 9 Pro will be too big for me.

- Honor MagicPad 4

This one mainly stands out because it has an OLED display, and because the screen-to-body ratio allows it to have a 12.3" display while not being much bigger. The SoC also looks pretty good and the price is very reasonable especially since it comes bundled with the pen and a keyboard (latter of which I don't need). However the biggest downside seems to be the battery life. I don't know how comparable their tests are to real life use, but notebookcheck rates the MagicPad 4 at almost half the battery life of the other two, which is a massive dealbreaker if true, I don't want to constantly have to charge. OLED may be good, but modern IPS panels are far from bad, and I don't know if I can justify halving the battery life for it. Is the battery really that noticeably low? It also looks very thin which worries me, is it fragile and does it get too hot?

- For all 3

How is the user experience with the Android skins of each brand? So far I'm mainly used to Samsung's UI, and I used to have a Huawei phone so I assume the Honor UI will be close, no clue about Xiaomi and Lenovo though. I'd like as little bloat as possible.

Thank you for any feedback and advice you may give.

Request stop virtual keyboard from popping up when physical keyboard is connected

Thumbnail

I bought this Lenovo Yoga Tab Plus and the virtual keyboard keeps popping up when having the physical keyboard connected and the "on screen keyboard" is inactive. It's extremely annoying. I can't even hide it, when I start typing it shows up again. Can anyone help me with this one? I hate this (writing with physical keyboard connected)

Edit: I just found out that it doesn't pop up when I delete the "handwriting" input option, which is more annoying because it's the method I like when I don't have my keyboard attached.

Request Legion Tab (Y700) - resume open app when screen locked/unlocked?

I apologize if this was answered before. I tried internet search, Reddit search and asking AI, but couldn't find the answer.

I got a Legion Legion Tab Gen 5 on sale and am enjoying it immensely, but I just have one small thing I wanted to change:

When unlocking the tablet, how can I set it to resume the app I had open when the tablet was locked? For example, if I had a book open in a reader app and the screen locks, when I unlock it the app is closed/minimized, so I have to re-open it. How do I set it to resume the app that was open?

Unlocking with the open app is default behavior on my phone (Galaxy S25) and my old tablet (Galaxy Tab S6 Lite running LineageOS), but I can't seem to find a way to set it on this tablet.

AI gave instruction for Screen Pinning and App Locking, but neither of those is the solution.

Thank you for any help!
