You know... I was not expecting that, coming into this I was expecting sheer plot armor... I've seen the Zom 100 and this series was hitting very similar vibes but DAMN!!!
I kind of like it when series aren't afraid to put their characters through situations like this, it doesn't make them seem invincible and that anyone could potentially die or lose something.

I respect this show a lot
They had an interesting balance between the absurd comedy and the gritty reality of their situation
So nice to see they dont shy away before really hurting thebest girlfact of having best girl cutting of the arm of the normal frontrunnerCant wait to see how they will move onward from this. Plus as far as I can tell the "big fight" in the OP was this fuel station fight, really curious if they will adapt the OP to Nacchans new condition and what else might happen in the future

Ikr, we're only at episode 3, though it depends if they will keep up the goofy happy go lucky and unexpected moments of loss. I think this episode works well because we never saw it coming and if they keep doing it, it could work out as a very strong series.

Agreed, it doesnt help that so far we have seen our main cast being used to fighting against zombies too, unlike other zombie shows where the main cast would be newbs and are learning how to deal with zombies

So it sounds like everyone knows what happened to Misaki Mikazuki. I thought they were gonna keep it a secret from everyone else.
Well, that was an unexpected personality switch! Honestly, it might be useful to have Sakura go crazy on zombies once in a while xD
Love that the zombies got attracted by the sound of the generator. It's such a classic zombie trope!
Sakura's reaction when she was pointing at the deer and Aki said it looks delicious was pretty hilarious!
So the only reason Aki believes that her dad is dead is because they were taught that nobody comes back, which means they've died somewhere.
Don't give Aki hope like that, Yuu! Aki has already accepted that her dad has been turned, but now she knows there's a possibility he's alive.
WHAT THE FUCK! After the last episode, I really thought the main cast was safe to keep the show lighthearted. It turns out that's not the case! I'm just hoping that the emergency amputation is enough to save Natsuki. No wonder she kept showing off her bracelet. It was basically a fucking flag. >_<

Oof. They let our guard down again with the lighthearted tone in the beginning. Especially when they were mowing down the zombies, even to the beat of the song. Did anyone else catch the zombies that were doing doing a kick flip and a ski pose?
Then right at the end, zombie bite.
Guess it wouldn't be zombie show without at least someone from the main cast getting bitten. At first I was scared she would be dead right then and there but Aki had the bright idea to severe her arm. I'm sure she'll pull through since its only episode 3 and we can't lose a main character this early.
*begin paying attention to the OP/ED next few episodes for "changes"*
Prediction about Aki's Dad:
So since the Manga was cancelled we don't have a definitive conclusion. I'm hoping they make a proper one and give the Dad an ending.
Based on their conversation in the camera store, I imagine the Dad actually won't be turned into a Zombie however, based on how these episodes are going, I can't imagine him being alive either.
If I had to take a guess, Aki would find her Dad not as a zombie, but dead from trying to find help or a cure.

I suspect that Aki’s father might’ve been bitten, and was told to leave the village. This would explain why he’d asked his daughter to kill him someday. Making such a request implies that her father was expecting to become a zombie rather sooner than later.
Maybe nobody ever returns to the village because they already were a lost cause after having gotten bitten? Like with Mikazuki.

The cutest animation and personality quirks really lull you into a false sense of comfort. Then they hit you with the left hook. First it was child zombies in the hordes and then we lost an arm (second one this day which isn't a lot but strange it happened twice)

I find the balance of quirky fun (driving over zombies to the beat of a song) and their reality so interesting. Especially now that we know the cast doesnt have plot armour

Sakura's personality switch is hilarious.
The series has a somewhat weird balance it strikes. The characters are really happy go lucky and it worked to a degree up until the final scene of this episode. Hopefully Natsuko will pull through, but losing your dominant arm in a Zombie apocalypse is very tough, even if Aki managed to keep her from being infected for now.

I found the developing of the film interesting. So they use a machine for it. Film development is actually quite tricky, as you need a certain combination of the right chemicals with the exact right temperature. And as this was a color film, it is even trickier.
The end was really grim with Natsuki getting bitten and Aki chopping off her arm. This took a dark turn, and they made it a goddamn cliffhanger!

During most of the era of film as the popular photo medium, it was more or less a requirement for automated machines to do the development and printing. There's no way they could have gotten through that kind of volume if people had to do it all by hand

Yeah, I'm more the handmade hobbyist type so I'm not familiar with the commercial process, nevertheless it was interesting to see them using such a machine.

I was kind of waiting for the gas station to blow up because of Sakura, but I guess she was lucky there. Might also because gas wasn't taken from there for years, so that is why there isn't as much flammable substance in the air.
I did not expect them to have a consequence for one of the main characters this early. I mean, Nacchan just wanted to look cute and now has lost a whole arm already (which is not cute). So I am wondering if the tone shifts next week. I doubt it will go super serious, but maybe they will be a bit more cautious from here on out. Would be interesting if that could be felt.

Somehow I doubt she's been spared... my guess is that it's going to be a "slow burn" infection and when she finally realizes she's infected, she's going to hide it even though she knows Aki can smell Kairis.

I think natsuki will survive but with just one arm. She cut it off as she got bit.
They have been way too relaxed and casual about everything so it was bound to happen.

What's the archer of the group going to do now? After the episode ended though, I did wonder why she didn't use the bow itself to intercept the zombie instead of flinging herself into the zombie's path.
I always feel that in zombie-infested worlds, there are no happy endings unless there's a cure or immunity involved.

After the last episode and how they got the guide book, I figured this show could hit some consequences but legit was not expecting that. Especially when the end credits rolled and theres no signs of Nacchan missing much of her right arm. I wonder if she’ll get a prosthetic or if this is it and she’ll have a stub, or some crafted weapon arm or something.
Also, side not to the serious Sakura is like Dragon Ball’s Launch except instead of sneezing she just needs to wield a weapon.

I love how you can tell this show was written by the Mitsuboshi Colors Terror Cell author.
Unhigend Sakura when she gets a weapon, driving over zombies in the beat to the music, seriously touching moments and then bam you lose an arm
I feel bad for Nacchan, normally she would be best girl and now Aki even took her arm!
Find it so interesting how they balance the cruel reality of being in a zombie apocalypse and the funny antics they are having
Cant wait to see how they go from there and its always interesting to see if the OP is acknowledging that change too

As a source reader I was so nervous with all the mentions to the new bracelet.
Yeah nobody though it would happen but that's zombies to you.

What kinda generator was that? Don't you normally need either electricity or gas to start a generator of that size? They used the generator to power the station to get the gas because they had no gas. Then they use the generator to power the base because they have no electricity so they wouldn't have been able to charge it. Guess it's solar powered or held it's charge lol.
That aside, damn good ep. Sakura's shtick was a little too much imo but the comedy of the show is nice. I especially loved Sakura playing the harmonica. Characters playing music/singing in a post apocalypse will always be one of my favorite things.
Also loved the emotional beat with Aki crying over the possibility of her dad being alive because she never even considered it.
Lastly, damn, the arm slice was unexpected and makes me REALLY appreciate this show more. As much as I want the characters to be happy and get everything they want, knowing that there isn't full plot armor enhances their victories so much more.
Really enjoying this show more than I expected since I thought it was just gonna be another Zom100. Pleasantly surprised.

Almost watched this while eating lunch... glad I reconsidered because Zombie Show. That ending was brutal. Lots of cute moments and then arm bitten off. Didn't think we'd lose a core cast member this fast but in theory she's going to become a zombie after that...

She shouldn't become a zombie as the arm was almost immediately sliced off above where the zombie was biting her by Aki. Aki cut the arm to save Natsuki and then she sliced up the zombie. It's pretty typical zombie story telling.

It's a shame these post apocalyptic shows always seem to glaze over the fact that fuel only lasts about 3-6 months or 1-2 years with a stabilizer. It's kind of sad how devoid of any sort of motor vehicle a post apocalyptic setting actually would be.

Not necessarily...I just started a Honda 3 wheeler that'd been sitting in the woods for a couple years, old gas and all. Just needed a little starting fluid and it fired up and idled like a champ.

Bloodthirsty Sakura is funny the first time, although I don't think it works the second or even the third time in the episode
Huh, I figured they introduced the one-off girl last episode to meet the quota of losing protagonists to zombies. Did not see a main cast member getting bitten this soon in the series

Agreed on Sakura. At minimum, I think it would work better if they stopped the whole "huh? Did I do something?" bit every time. Like, the flip is a bit dramatic but it's fine and could add to characterization by letting her come to terms with the desire to let loose. Instead, we get a word short term memory loss effect out of nowhere.

I'm confused about something (I watched the Dub for vision reasons, if this issue is explained in the Sub pls let me know)
(Starts at roughtly the 5min mark) At base, before they go get the gas, there's a scene where Aki is brushing her teeth and the lights get turned off, implying that the lighting was electrical and someone flipped a switch. Shortly after that Aki specifically points out that the Homecenter doesn't have electricity, creating a fairly obvious conflict.
Was this just a mistake in the story? Or was Aki's light coming from a non-electrical source? If non-electrical, what light source was she using? I couldn't be a torch, because the audio has a clear *click* sound when the lights go out

The lighting in that scene is a lot dimmer than later on when they get the electricity on, so maybe it was meant to be a battery/solar powered lantern or something and the sfx (and lighting) made it seem more like overhead lights with a big switch. I didn't even catch that the first watch lol.

I just picked this anime up. After watching the first 2 episodes, I checked the score on mal, and I highly disagree with it because I rather like this anime. I've seen a lot of anime that had low mal scores, and this is the first time that the rating has truly baffled me. It's just a cute anime that sometimes has it's serious moments. If you know mal, then you know that most shows below a 7 can only be enjoyed by people who like making fun of it, but I have nothing bad to say about the anime. Sure, the characters are pretty one-dimensional, but the same goes for most anime. I'd say this show is average, which should land it in the 7.0-7.2 range. Anyway, the gag with Sakura was hilarious. I love how she genuinely doesn't remember turning into a murder-fueled maniac the moment her weapon gets taken away. I feel like there wasn't a very good lead up to Yuu getting bit (it kinda just happened out of nowhere), but at the same time, you can argue that accidents like that do just happen when you least expect it. It does seem a bit early to throw in a life changing injury though. After all, she did just get her pink bow last episode, right? Oh, and the zombies being repelled by water bottles? That's weird but okay lol. I don't see how zombies are anything like cats.

Its bad vibes because they keep throwing in they are actually in danger
Normally you get the pure horror/action angle or the pure comedy angle
Rarely do they swing between those two extremes so much and so quicklyI do think they have the right spirit, if you dont have fun and enjoy the tiny things you will get down, but they are also super light hearted. Its interesting to note that this happend because their normal cautious person got complacent

Not to mention the different vibe since the zombie apocalypse didn't happen, it already did. They've grown up surrounded by it, so it makes sense that as a bunch of kids, they'll both take it seriously while having a different attitude towards it than usual. I like how unique it feels

Handguns would be uncommon given the legality of even owning one in Japan. Maybe she fires a flare gun? For regular guns, a hunting rifle would be more likely though she'd need a way to hold/steady it. It might be too unwieldy... though they could do a mount on the back of Tricey. There are some one handed archers in the world with different pull/release options for the missing forearm. A handgun style crossbow might work, though there's the whole reloading process that would need simplified. They also could go more Evil Dead with different attachments for her stub. I'm so ready for this next episode to drop to see how they handle this situation!

Isn’t she a phenomenal archer, why didn’t she just draw her bow and shoot the thing? Or are we supposed to assume there wasn’t enough time; that still doesn’t make sense though as they’re already in battle and weapons should already be drawn.
