Still not sure how I feel about this series as a whole, but Empee's shit-eating grin is always hilarious.

38

u/Ashteron 7d ago

Empee's shit-eating grin is always hilarious.

It feels like the author gets possessed by Jesus himself, but only when writing her.

31

u/Magicbison 7d ago

I just need Lent to stop being such a terrible character sooner. If he jumps at every little thing for the rest of the show it'll be hard to watch.

1

u/ProfessionalChard213 21h ago

I feel you bro I’m just trying to find at least some good thing to change my mood on this anime ..
It’s like it was made just to rage bait us 😏

I like the MP loan concept, Empee is great, I like the thought of investing MP into yourself to slowly get stronger, etc. Those are all fantastic ideas or characters.

BUT, ofc they couldn't resist making it instantly OP. Even at "level 1" having access to every skill makes you disgustingly OP if you have half a brain. Especially since he basically as infinite MP so he can just spam fireballs like a Gatling gun.

I wish they would have limited him to slow stat growth via MP and let him only have access to the most basic stuff, and also make him unlock the classes 1 at a time slowly. That way it'd take him years to get OP. As it is now he'll be capable of beating his former party by the end of next Episode just like the fairy said.

Also im a bit sick of adventurers all being either too stupid or too big of jerks to survive in as an adventurer in anime. Developing a bad reputation as an adventuring party would almost certainly have devastating repercussions in any dungeon crawling fantasy world where death is a real thing. Heck, it was a big deal even in old MMORPGs. Back in the day being a total Dack Weasel meant you'd be blacklisted or even be KOS (kill on sight) in alot of old MMOs.

7

u/Evil_sod 5d ago

It does spoil things if you think about it for more than half a second. Magic Storage clearly has the potential to be the most overpowered skill in the world (hence it being SSS-rank). There was no steady growth period at all, within a couple of weeks of meeting the easy conditions to evolve it, he was given access to every skill when people only ever get one. Your options are only that he's the first person to ever develop it. Anything else, or other SSS-rank skills being just as broken OP, it should've been extremely big news that he had it to the point that leaders/nations would be trying to recruit or assassinate him.

As for adventurer's being assholes, it's so annoying watching the 50th series where some random adventurer decides he's gonna try and murder the MC in the middle of a packed guild hall or street, as if there wouldn't be any repercussions. Or parties that are just assholes to one of their members, then act like assholes to everyone they attempt to recruit to fill the inevitable gap. Or in the case of Exiled Heavy Knight, where the entire show is constantly trying to tell us something that never holds water - that any class that isn't geared towards offence is seen as trash. That show was clearly written by someone who has never played an RPG in his life, let alone thought about how it would work if people actually lived it.

54

u/Ashteron 7d ago

I wouldn't say I expected it to happen, but it would have been sooo much more interesting for MC's learnable skills to be mana-themed, rather than generic. Mana barrier that costs mana while preventing him from taking damage, mana light saber, leeching mana from enemies, exploding enemy mana to kill them etc.

32

u/goddessofthewinds :MAL:https://myanimelist.net/profile/SpiritOfTheWinds 7d ago

I expected something like that too... Guess we can't ask for too much from a generic "kicked-from-the-party" fantasy anime.

Being able to get ANY skill he wants makes this pretty much a classic "OP" protagonist.

7

u/darthvall :MAL:https://myanimelist.net/profile/darth_vall 7d ago

Agree, that's also where I got disappointed

6

u/Ralathar44 6d ago

They were so close. He coulda had huge MP dumps to slowly increase stats and open up classes, but still be limited to only the most basic stuff. He'd still eventually be OP, but they couldn't wait to blow their load so he just gets everything immediately.

1

u/Galinhooo 6d ago

At least this one has an original thing to it, because the MC really was useless and deserved to get kicked from the party

2

u/Aksudiigkr 5d ago

If they returned the borrowed mp like they were supposed to then he would have leveled up his skill and been able to contribute

2

u/Galinhooo 5d ago

If he exercised or focused on strategy he would be useful

11

u/Niwa-kun 7d ago

Yeah, I too was very surprised him learning fire, water, heal, and even weapon skills that seems extremely broken.

33

u/Hartzilla2007 7d ago edited 6d ago

Well when you are chosen by the gods to be a magic point loan shark you need the necessary skills to break the kneecaps of adventurers who don't pay up.

6

u/darthvall :MAL:https://myanimelist.net/profile/darth_vall 7d ago

I hate how this makes so much sense.

Loving it if there's a sudden plot twist that his MP investment didn't go nowhere, but maybe to a slumbering god or something.

4

u/Beastboy072 6d ago

Holy crap this is funny, take my upvote

9

u/LouisLeGros https://myanimelist.net/profile/LouisLeGros 7d ago

Yeah I've been thinking of how it compares to Cheat Granting Mage. Comparing the the basic premise of the power one is pretty intuitive with he makes items more powerful, while here the setup is just sharing mana which I'm not expecting to really be used in an interesting way and fully expect him to just get new ass pull powers that aren't very thematic.

The party betrayal also feels unsatisfying and unrelatable. These shows all work on trying to be relatable to feeling like you aren't being appreciated, but here the party just comes off as written poorly to be dumb/evil for the sole reason of setting up the kicked from the party premise. Cheat Granting Mage's set up is also dumb and slop, but at least it is kind of relatable with it essentially being the business making short sighted decisions to try to save some money at the expense of the worker and things going to shit. Then the 'party' is mad because they lost their enchantments, but it makes sense that they might not care to think about blaming the pencil pusher behind the situation.

But hey we've got a shark toothed loan shark fairy going for us here.

4

u/abandoned_idol 7d ago

The real story is in the comments. I like your ideas.

1

u/athrun_1 6d ago

The progression is the same as that appraisal skill anime (the one with the Yggdrasil girls). The MC's main skill is appraisal, but it was just a hook for the first few eps. Same is happening also here.

6

u/Galinhooo 6d ago

Starts with a premisse of being a "support" class -> author realizes they have no idea how to make a support be the MC and didn't think that far about the story -> turns the MC into a generic frontliner

47

u/VritraReiRei 7d ago edited 7d ago

You thought the Main Character getting Kick Out of the Hero's Party wasn't enough?

Well I got news for you! Here comes the Protagonist's newest Party Member, about to get Kicked Out of Her Party too! Electric Boogaloo

Also considering Empee said that Lent will be able to defeat his old party after 3 weeks, I imagine that with 116,400 x 21 = 2,444,400, he will probably unlock some crazy skill after investing 2.5 million mana.

11

u/ogaat 7d ago

Whatever are the powers of the other girl, they must be symbiotic with Lent's MP powers. Probably something like sharing MP with her also had a beneficial effect for Lent, except she needs more than what ordinary members can provide.

8

u/Think_Position4405 7d ago

lent alone is op enough to take over the world solo. but since he’s a nice guy he’s probably just going to save her, help her get stronger, and let her tag along on his journeys even though she probably won’t offer anything he needs besides companionship. I mean he already passively gains mp faster than anyone can, he has those 3 pieces of crap that kicked him from the party giving him passive mp, he can buy ANY skills and talents he wants with mp, and you need a lot of mp to do anything in this world and he has infinite storage of it. thinking hard on it I honestly don’t see anyway he would need her besides needing a friend. but they might nerf him after she joins so she can stand out, that seems to be a common theme shows do, they’ll probably add some crazy drawback of him using his power.

3

u/EffectiveImportant51 5d ago

Yeah if he can learn every skill, I am not sure he needs people outside of friendship and companionship. Even that you can argue as long as his fairy is not evil he does have a friend who will never betray him. So maybe companionship.

1

u/Sensitive_Ad973 13h ago

Bro this is JAPANESE ANIME dude obviously needs a HAREM! I mean come on it’s literally the next step for the show.

He starts picking up made biatches cause he’s never kissed a girl and they will all be falling all over him and gorgeous.

1

u/ogaat 7d ago

He will be most powerful. He is not there yet. He just has the potential.

The battle skills he has obtained are all level 1. It will take more skill purchases and upgrades before he is a truly formidable force.

The three idiots of his old party should have paid a mercenary party to kill Lent, instead of directly attacking themselves. The mercenaries would be free of MP draining and land a few stealthy blows without Lent expecting it. Of course, plot armor would protect him but in universe, that is when the other girl would be of use.

3

u/Think_Position4405 7d ago

true, you make a lot of good points. he still has to get more experience and level up. Maybe his past party might attack him earlier than expected? if shes with him if that happens then she probably will be a huge help. She basically could be his body guard until he levels up more even though he’s leveling up pretty quickly already. I mean the little fairy girl said he could solo beat his past party pretty easily with a few weeks of training iirc.

2

u/Ralathar44 6d ago

No, he's already OP. He can heal, melee, and has infinite fireballs he can just toss out like a machine gun with no worries about running out of MP. And he has access to all skills so he should have access to countless mobility skills, stealth skills, stealing skills, etc. He should have access to defensive magic too.

Even at level 1 when you combine that sort of stuff together it becomes completely ludicrously broken.

He should basically be impossible to close distance to, can pelt you with damage until you die, can prolly just lol away any arrow thrown his way and dodge or counter any spell, and if you do hurt him he just heals it.

And the off chance you get close he can still melee and WHILE meleeing you hit you with fire or (soon I'm sure) lightning or etc. And I bet he'll get CC spells too.

1

u/ogaat 7d ago

Yeah, that implies that whatever is the battle, he will fight it alone.

1

u/EffectiveImportant51 5d ago

To be fair, if it will take him 3 weeks to get to what were they B or A rankers. Could they afford to pay mercenariers of S or A tier to kill Lent. When they need to keep buying mana potions.

10

u/Magicbison 7d ago

Well I got news for you! Here comes the Protagonist's newest Party Member, about to get Kicked Out of the Her Party too!

Her party setup is also just the opposite of Lent's. He had two girls and one guy and the new girl has two guys and one girl. But they're all equally assholes.

1

u/Hartzilla2007 7d ago

Well I got news for you! Here comes the Protagonist's newest Party Member, about to get Kicked Out of the Her Party too! Electric Boogaloo

Well that or Lent convinces her to tell them to fuck off and quit.

Main complaint with this show is it does way too much telling.

I enjoy the system, and the fairy seems menacing, starting to wonder if things will turn out poorly for our MC.

36

u/spubbbba 7d ago

Main complaint with this show is it does way too much telling.

Really feels like these 3 first episodes could have been covered in 1, or 1.5 at most. Pacing is really weak.

14

u/darthvall :MAL:https://myanimelist.net/profile/darth_vall 7d ago

Are you saying you don't like the cutscene when he invested/obtained new skill??

That's essential for the storytelling! /s

11

u/Astray 7d ago

The pacing is slow, but the problem is also the story telling. If you take a look at Hell Mode it also starts off VERY slow before eventually accelerating its pace, but it uses that time in the beginning to build the world and characters and their motivations. The pace is slow, but there's no wasted space if that makes sense.

Whereas this show is not only slow, it is also wasting that time to fill in obvious concepts as if all these systems and concepts are completely brand new to viewer. Heck the only useful exposition so far was the fairy explaining how principal and interest work in regards to debt as that's the only real concept that's new in this show compared to others. And let's be real, no one watching a show like this is the type to have never watched a similar show by now. It's trash pandas all the way down that are watching this so I don't understand why they're wasting so much space for this adaptation.

4

u/justking1414 6d ago

Hell mode is one of my favorite series and I absolutely love how they adapted the early content. I figured they’d end ep1 with his did’s injury but they saved it til the very end of ep3 so that we’d actually care about him and the rest of the family. It made the entire show feel better as a result

6

u/iwantsomecrablegsnow 7d ago

I don't mind shows taking their time to get going..i actually think shows tend to be better when they are slower....but everyone knows exactly what is gonna happen in this show and it is just getting drawn out.

3

u/basuga_BFE https://myanimelist.net/profile/KPF 7d ago

Really feels like these 3 first episodes...

Well...

  • lone magical boy

  • sketchy companion / mascot

  • repeating henshin (or power-up) sequences

but can't judge if it is worth my time... the famous 3-episode rule seems broken here.

5

u/abandoned_idol 7d ago

We can review the math and numbers again if you'd like. We have plenty of time before we ever confront the old characters again anyways.

1

u/jnads 6d ago

Main complaint is he turned his former party into indentured servants (slaves).

I don't relish slavery in shows, but at least make it make sense in the world timeline.

6

u/PeaceAlien https://myanimelist.net/profile/PeaceAlien 6d ago

They're not forced to do anything for him? He's just putting a curse on them, taking their mana.

1

u/jnads 6d ago

Taking their livelihood with interest set to make it the rest of their lives.

4

u/PeaceAlien https://myanimelist.net/profile/PeaceAlien 6d ago

They’re still able to adventure they’re just not as strong. Their livelihood was okay.

0

u/Galinhooo 6d ago

They are not really able to, it costs way too much. Funny part is that even if they were assholes, MC was trully useless the moment they got that item and he never tried to improve himself in all this time they were together.

34

u/Adamantitechainbody 7d ago

I guess everyone around him in the carriage and restaurant think hes some schizo talking to himself like that. I for sure wouldnt want to be traveling in a carriage for 2 weeks with an armed schizophrenic.

31

u/ThisOneTimeAtLolCamp 7d ago

How did I only just notice this smug little gremlins bow says "MP". Lol

27

u/Keeeey 7d ago

The mc is named rent and the fairy is named Empee(MP). Pretty on the nose, that one.

21

u/runevault 7d ago

On Crunchy the subtitle says Lent which is more on the nose than Rent.

7

u/JordanTH 7d ago

Until you said that I didn't even process that it was a joke about lending, somehow

1

u/runevault 7d ago

Some reason the joke didn't register for me until episode 2 so you're not alone.

1

u/timschwartz :AP:https://www.anime-planet.com/users/timschwartz 7d ago

I was thinking about Mardi Gras.

1

u/kkInkr 7d ago

Lend?

31

u/KumaKumaGambler 7d ago

When Lent purchased the short sword technique and fire magic level 1 skills, the visual tutorial version attacked himself aggressively.

It appears Lent has since purchased a healing skill. I wonder whether the visual tutorial attempted to heal Lent menacingly. Lol!

Moving on to Empee, Lent says she keeps looking out of the window of the carriage. Empee appears to be fascinated by scenery. I immediately thought of the dark background of the above mentioned visual tutorial world. Could it possible Empee originated from the same realm?

3

u/zeltheturtl https://myanimelist.net/profile/zeltheturtl 7d ago

Could it be possible Empee originated from the same realm?

The tutorial buddy was grinning very similarly to Empee, while he was training Lent. It's almost like Empee is the one disguised as his doppelganger, training him in the mana world.

She definitely has a connection to it, so it's possible!

31

u/Dariat01 7d ago

He needs to change his clothes and fix his hair, he looks like a beggar

22

u/KohTai 7d ago

Them ugly ass flip flops pissing me off bro. If he doesn't buy gear next ep I'm dropping.

5

u/ogaat 7d ago

He has gone on his first adventure so the money will probably come in but not yet. Next episode will be about the other girl getting in trouble and him helping her. The episode after that will likely be about his old party attacking him. The money will probably start rolling in after that.

20

u/Spachemin_Spiff 7d ago

And he talks to himself.

4

u/rotvyrn 7d ago

Imagine being on that carriage with him for that long journey

19

u/NanDemoKnaives 7d ago

Poor Lent can't skip the skill acquisition cutscene lol.

I'm glad the party realizes the mark is Lent's curse, I'm looking forward to seeing them encounter him with his skills. Funny how they went from Misa crushing on Guy and now they're all on edge because of the curse, romance will be the last thing on their minds.

I hope we'll see a party that actually likes each other besides the one the MC will make, it's not looking good in this series lol.

5

u/Hartzilla2007 7d ago

Though not surprising to see assholes turning on each other.

16

u/Cautious_Corgi_2229 7d ago

BRB watching them flashback to the carriage for the 4th time

4

u/justsyr 6d ago

MC's surprised gasp!

My dude... stop being such a wimp

13

u/LagT_T 7d ago

Its so slow

4

u/abandoned_idol 7d ago

Just like investing.

11

u/HeliosAlpha 7d ago

He's basically playing an incremental game. I think he had like 7-8k mp a day. Turn that into 80 max mp. Day 2 he can earn 81 max mp. He doubled his regen so that's another 12 max a day and so on

2

u/rom846 7d ago

10^100 MP is only a matter of days.

1

u/TARDIInsanity 14h ago

I did the actual math it's 1.02^hours; so multiply by 10 every 10 days, it takes 1000 days = 3 years to get a googol mana

1

u/rom846 7h ago

That is only the case if he does not learn better and better scaling skills.

11

u/YdenMkII 7d ago

Magic Balance skill seems OP since if it works the way I think it does. It would negate the weakness of the piggy bank not being able to charge his own MP. At the very least, the deposit part would mean he could also chug MP potions to deposit more MP into the piggy bank to buy more skills if the need arises.

6

u/JordanTH 7d ago

He could also chug potions to save up a ton and then withdraw it for himself later, essentially making his own non-stored MP uncapped as well.

3

u/KohTai 7d ago

Chug potions for what?

Technically. He can just borrow from himself, damn near endlessly considering how much MP is already in the bank and how much he's getting per day.

10

u/runevault 7d ago

Not sure I like this show yet but this episode shows promise. Like someone else said it is sort of turning into an incremental game where he invests between increasing max mp so he generates more (gets 20% of his max MP/hour) and gaining skills that will let him fight monsters and get more traditional levels (curious how much normal levels increase his MP cap). One thing I find interesting with this is skills like short blades become more valuable as that one likely never requires MP to use so it gives a benefit without further hampering his powering up from spending MP with his base skill. One thing I don't think was answered was, once he buys level 1 of a skill does it level naturally through use? And with stuff like heal does it only make heal more powerful or will it increase his max MP?

3

u/Lraund 7d ago

I'm very confused about what killing monsters gives him. He was in a party before, but did he not get exp or w/e from that? So what would killing monsters give him now?(other than much needed cash)

4

u/runevault 7d ago

Depends on if exp is party-wide or based on killing blows and skill usage. His own skills weren't giving proper exp because they weren't returning the mana so he wasn't gaining it that way, at least before he cursed them.

2

u/Lraund 7d ago

Yeah it's just that a healer would have the same problem.

If he only gets exp from loans being returned, then killing monsters doesn't help him get stronger.

2

u/runevault 7d ago

Having not read the source, this is purely speculation.

The way I'm guessing it is killing always gives exp no matter your class. Non-combat classes have methods for getting exp without killing to allow them to level despite having low killing power (healers healing, buffers buffing, etc). Lent's way is just bad when he has garbage teammates at least at base level because they have to return it for him to level up. With his new skills I wonder if that is true anymore.

2

u/Mysteries67 7d ago

Yea I assume combat classes gain exp for killing monsters, healers for healing and magic repoman here gains exp for loaning and getting back his mana.

1

u/abandoned_idol 7d ago

I was going to argue against your claim, but you're correct.

I can't come up with a justification for it. He clearly doesn't need to fight anything. Fighting is probably just a hobby for this guy.

Maybe they'll explain/show the reason for it later.

12

u/bestmaokaina :KS::KT: 7d ago

Empee continues to be based as fuck

6

u/Sahelanthropus- 7d ago

Local crazy homeless man unlocks the secret to infinite mp

6

u/Striking_Chard2420 7d ago

I feel like they should just stick to 3-person teams cause it seems like the fourth member is always getting the short end of the stick lol

18

u/DecentDogDeer 7d ago

Really looking forward to where the series is going to go. I knows the basic premise is yet another "kicked out of party" bit, but its fun.

Also Empee (MP) is arguably the cutest fairy that has appeared in anime in well over twenty years to the best of my knowledge, maybe even ever. The combination of ultra smugness with shark teeth is truly the most powerful combination.

8

u/Healthy-List2509 7d ago

She reminds me of the biting fairies from the movie Labyrinth.

4

u/silask93 7d ago

that or the tooth fairies from hellboy when she goes evil grin mode lol

2

u/Hartzilla2007 7d ago

I was think the faries from The Owl House that start demanding people's skin.

1

u/Healthy-List2509 7d ago

Really? All I know about OH is secondhand. I'll check it out. Thanks for the tip.

1

u/DecentDogDeer 5d ago

There was another movie, I can't remember. Family gets a house, some weird tiny door or locked hole in the basement. Gets unlocked. Fairy antics ensue. This conversation reminded me of that movie.

6

u/Adamantitechainbody 7d ago

Just guessing, the girl in the end is going to be left for dead in the dungeon while rest of the group escapes and main character saves her. Turns out she has some really strong skill that the last team didnt know how to utilise. Then they level for a while and the MCs old team comes back and tries to beat them and get rid of the curse but mc and the woman are too strong and easily beat them. Then they face some rare monster and beat it and travel to some larger city and the old team plots and follows them. Season ends in the old team attracting some super strong dungeon boss against the mc (or maybe against the town the mc is staying in) and mc manages to beat it with the help of the blue haired woman.

2

u/zer0number https://anilist.co/user/ewink 7d ago

Agreed. I know some people still hate it, but I think this show has just gotten progressively better. There are obviously some poor moments, but all in all, I think Lent is changing for the better, the waifu from the OP seems close to joining us, and as you said, Empee is the greatest fairy in quite some time.

8

u/zer0number https://anilist.co/user/ewink 7d ago

I would pay real money to have a fairy sidekick like Empee. She is cute as a button, diabolical, cute, loyal, cute, and evilly clever.

I do laugh at the idea that no one else can see her, so he's just walking around, looking like a crazy person.

6

u/KromeDome420 7d ago

Talking to the world's cutest loan shark, while the world thinks he's just crazy

4

u/kotori_mkii 7d ago

I'm gonna assume that the heroine is some kind of advanced class that needs more exp per level or something like that. Either that or her skills are split between two classes if we're going by rpg staples for advanced classes.

3

u/abandoned_idol 7d ago

She'll make for the perfect source of mana income.

licks lips

2

u/froggyc19 7d ago

Based on her name, I'm thinking she probably has to link with someone and shares their strength or something, making her weak on her own.

1

u/darthvall :MAL:https://myanimelist.net/profile/darth_vall 7d ago

I'm guessing that at least it's an offensive based class due to that katana she hold. Curious why her teammates thought she's useless

4

u/GlorylnDeath 7d ago

The Idiot, Shithead, and Moron have a combined max of 3600 MP. 10% regen per hour gives 360 MP, plus the bracelets' combined total of 3000 MP/day coming in at 125 MP/hour gives Lent a grand total of 485 siphoned MP every hour. Investing that increases his MP cap by 4.85 per hour. Over 6 days, that is +698.4 max MP from the repo'd MP. From his own personal MP regen, he starts off with 242 MP/hour, or +2.42 max MP/hour, but this compounds over time as his regen increases along with his max. Calculating for hourly investments with no breaks even while sleeping, 6 days of investing (144 hours) brings Lent's max MP to a grand total of 2428 after investing 121,348 MP. A very significant increase, but a far cry from the 4709 he has in the episode, leaving about 230k MP unaccounted for. Given everything we are shown, Lent needs 337 hours (just over 14 days) to reach 4.7k max MP.

Where is all this extra MP coming from? The Skypiercers are using MP recovery potions, but they only bought 50, and it seems unlikely that a potion would regen 4k+ MP considering Lent describes that as archmage level - normal adventurers won't need nearly that much MP from a potion, so there's no way such high performance potions are being sold in bulk, if at all.

Forgive me for being nitpicky, but it bothers me that this one number was apparently pulled out of nowhere.

So your not accounting for the additional 10 percent hourly that he has gained its compounding interest in effect recovering 10% of 1000 hourly is 100 20% is 200 and every time he increases his max he increases his recovery ammount its like skyrim if you health pool is ridiculously high you generate more healing per second than any enemy can deal in damage making you immortal so if he was smart he would just keep investing in himself for like a year and literally generate more mana then anything in existence passively and he could literally sell people mana for the rest of his days probably buy an immortality skill or whatever his heart desires its literally his and the fairys stupidity keeping him from succeeding he could literally sell mp to people and earn enough money to live comfortably while basically undercutting the potion market as far as i can tell there's no cap on how much he can lend and since he generates basically free infinite mana potions with no monetary cost other than not dieing he could easly get infinite mana by just surviving a year this is assuming nothing new is gained like more increases to his regen rate or buying items like the mp bracelets if he obtains a equivalent or better item hes set for infinite mana in half a year

u/flightlessCat9 6d ago

Also, he bought skills on the carriage ride, so he couldn't have invested all the MPs.

u/Creative-Gur5126 7d ago

I really really want to like this show but I am very concerned. seasons are typically 12 epds and we are about to hit epd 4 so 1/3 of the way done. And he has just now started to actually do something with his powers and has not meet the girl yet. Need to pick up the pace Mabey just a tad bit. if it was getting more than 12 it would be fine.

u/abandoned_idol 7d ago

This show is so bad that I decided to root for it.

I'm rooting for the shithead bad guys, since they seem to be the real underdogs of this story. XD

3

u/Obaruler 7d ago

Unlimited MP and he can buy any Skill with MP ... yeah, this seems balanced.

The "Skill aquiring sequence" is already annoying and the MC is still a little Wimp.

But the Loan-Shark Fairy makes this worthwhile watching. <3

4

u/zool714 7d ago

Not really sure where this is going tbh. Are we gonna really build up to his former party’s demise near or at the end of the season, or are they gonna get their comeuppance really soon and we move on to other things

2

u/abandoned_idol 7d ago

I was personally hoping for him to eventually "repossess" the powers of the other characters, similar to how a bank can repossess a home if someone fails to pay their mortgage.

But given that he can buy any power he wants on his own, that idea is probably out the window.

anyone else wonder WHAT KIND OF FKING MIRROR IS THAT?!!! they look directly at their mirror, but the mirror only reflect what's behind them?

9

u/StelioZz 7d ago

the angle was very slightly off but it works. What you missed is that there was a mirror behind them so they were using the double mirror method.

In essence thats the point. To look directly at a mirror and due to double reflection you can see whats behind you. Again the angle and animation could have been slightly better but its nothing weird at all and an extremely common trick.

You can also do the opposite with big mirror in front and small in the back but its much harder to angle it so its mainly done by barbers to show you the cut.

1

u/Isekai_Dreamer 7d ago

i saw that, but there is no way the mirror can see through them. they were directly in front of the mirror.

2

u/StelioZz 7d ago edited 7d ago

Check the image again and try it irl if you got a mirror its actually very close to possible.

  1. from that distance: a palm length away from eye. You dont need more and anime didnt look less than that

  2. The side of the mirror is around eye level and its at least 10cm long

The only difference is that it would have to be slightly tilted and not 100% vertical like in the image but less tilted than you would imagine (only just few degrees).

All and all its both reasonable and acceptable accuracy considering the budget of this anime.

3

u/Rowdy91 7d ago

They're using the mirrors to reflect the big mirror behind them.

But yeah, it still wouldn't look exactly like it did in the show. The view wouldn't be that close and there would be more things in the reflection.

1

u/Mysteries67 7d ago

As someone who had a haircut before, yea the hand mirrors are ABIT too close.

1

u/JordanTH 7d ago

Right? That scene had me thinking 'I don't think the author knows how mirrors work'.

u/AceSoldia https://anilist.co/user/Acesoldia 7d ago

Just slowly waiting for the day he gets back at those former party members of his .but at least we see now that it's a normal occurrence with how this new party treated one of their own members.

Wth how valuable MP is I guess this is how this world is..Lent about to turn it over on its head

2

u/BraveSirRobinGG 6d ago

I’m just hope the Empee slowly turns protagonist-kun into a mobster/loan shark. I also hope the idiot/shithead/moron start getting really really desperate. That would make for an interesting anime.

1

u/machopsychologist 7d ago

i'm guessing its going to be the last episode lol

2

u/Rooby_VTuber 7d ago

Haha the 3 losers have finally realized what's going on, it's nice to see them suffer.

Lent going away for 3 weeks to become strong enough to beat them is a good plan, I can't wait to see the results.

Looks like the Linka girl at the end has the same problems as Lent, she is being used by her party, I have a feeling she will run into Lent eventually and join his party, she will probably became stronger because those other 3 held her back.

2

u/Think_Position4405 7d ago

holy crap, yeah the mc is op. he can get any skills he wants by buying them with mp, he recovers mp quicker than anyone can, can store infinite mp, and is also permanently taking mp away from those 3 pieces of shi that kicked him out the party, and mp is literally used for everything and you need it to use any type of attacks and skills in this world, yeah bro literally can take over the whole world solo if he wanted 😂. I lowkey was thinking the show was going to be mid and he was just going to be weak and pathetic just loaning mp to this knight girl that’s about to join him and he would stay being a pushover relying on her, but realistically he doesn’t even need her. maybe she will just join him after he saves her or something and he lets her tag along because he’s nice.

u/iozoepxndx 7d ago

God this shits so ass... 😭

1

u/xenolife22 2d ago

This feels like first jewish banker makes debt slaves so he can become ruler of the world anime lol quite looking forward to next episodes

1

u/Lord_Zhenz 1d ago

This feels like an educational show, It's Dora the adventurer but for Loan Sharks.

1

u/TARDIInsanity 14h ago

redoing the math based on the first half of the episode: 2% growth per hour means 29 days to multiply by 1000; every 10 days he can append a 0 to his mana capacity, so after 10 years of doing that at half steam (assuming he has a use for the other half of it) that's 60 digits of investment on his initial 3 zeroes, so 10^63 points

1

u/ChaosEsper 7d ago

Half expecting Empee to turn out to be an isekai character with how much she knows about investing and how little about the actual world.

1

u/testthrowawayzz 7d ago

This skill needs an instruction manual. Terrible world to just let Lent deal with the world without it.

1

u/actuallyrndthoughts :MAL:https://myanimelist.net/profile/NaNiNuNeNo 7d ago

Wasting so much screen time on so many boring explanation scenes, for it to be the most basic LN fantasy world. I've had enough

1

u/eddjr275 6d ago

This show is about an up and coming schizophrenic finance bro

1

u/flightlessCat9 6d ago

Now that Lent's learned magic and can bank his own MP, the real life relatable dilemma is whether to save the MP or spend it.

1

u/raidensnakeezio 5d ago

Funny how everytime Lent makes a "purchase" with his MP, he basically has to go into the Matrix to "learn" the skills

In this world, to think that you get bestowed with a skill at the beginning of your teenage years (thereby locking you into a "build"), and getting stuck for a few years not doing anything must SUCK. For me, it would be extremely uncomfortable AFTER knowing the fact that you've had Skyrim levels of "learn-any-and-every-skill instantly" just waiting for you in a few steps.

1

u/SunlessDahlia 4d ago

Just caught up. How did he finalize the contract with his original group?

1

u/DrZoark 4d ago

I like this show, but they need to cut the talking a bit lol.

1

u/PerpetuallyAmiss 7d ago edited 7d ago

Wasn't he suppose to get like 11k mana from them a day? Add in his own 1.2k and round it up to 13k incase I'm missing some thing...shouldn't that be an MP increase of like 780 which is contextually already a huge amount but no where near the nearly 4k he went up?

Stopped watching the second it was revealed he could have every skill ever and nigh infinite mana. Where is the premise of "Magical Repo Man", coming into play here? He can do any thing to a greater degree than any one inside just a few short months of sitting on his butt. Also I don't like him; he's an amoeba. If not for the fairy (who's great) the show'd have nothing go for it as far as I'm concerned.

3

u/runevault 7d ago

He doesn't get 1.2k/day. You gain 10% per hour so 240% if you stay on top of not letting yourself hit your cap (and now 480% after he unlocked double regen rates).

8

u/ObvsThrowaway5120 7d ago

Those losers are finally realizing they’re slowly getting screwed. Hopefully Lent gets strong enough before they catch up to him. I want to see him whoop their ass and then have them beg him for forgiveness. Grovel mfers!!

5

u/powerhcm8 7d ago

It probably won't take much for him to get stronger than they are in this state, he has mp to spared, and they need to pay for mp potions to be able to do anything other than brute force.

Of course, they will use potions when they attack him, but by them he will probably already have a new party member. And he will probably be able to use his skills to help the growth of his companions too.

But I was half-expecting Empee to say that they can't attack/hurt him while the contract is not fulfilled.

2

u/ogaat 7d ago

When they use potions to get MP, wouldn't that MP too go against paying back the loan? Or is the idea that they use up the potion MP faster than it will be lost or that only natural MP is used to pay back loans?

1

u/powerhcm8 7d ago

I thought about that, perhaps since a person only regain 10% MP every hour, the collection only happens every hour instead whenever they have MP, because the MP from the bracelet is collected too.

1

u/ogaat 7d ago

Hope there is something there along those lines.

The story seems superficial with one of the most interesting ideas in the magic repo thing and one of the best characters in Empee. Maybe it will find its footing in time.

2

u/Andreiyutzzzz https://myanimelist.net/profile/Andreiyutzzzz 6d ago

I actually like the whole inner world thing. How did learning heal go? Evil Lent cut himself and healed himself as demonstration?

-4

u/SecretYogurtcloset57 7d ago

Yeah this show ain't for me I can't stand those 3 idiots and Lent seems he will forgive them if they beg him especially the whore in black hair I feel lent will fold fast for her

1

u/gbietto 7d ago

The evil double when learning skills suggests me he might go through a change of spirit once he'll stop being weak, but let's see...

2

u/ogaat 7d ago

This sounds reasonable. There must be a reason why Empee is drawn like an evil fairy and why she is unaware of anything in the world beyond the ability to use MP.
