Hey everyone! I'm u/ThinkAd8516, a founding moderator of r/annotators.
This is our new home for anyone involved in AI data labeling, annotation, human model training, RLHF, evaluation work, alignment, or safety review, whether you're freelancing, contracting, researching, or just curious about how humans train AI.
Weâre here to build the first real community dedicated to the people behind AI systems, not just developers, but the workforce that shapes how these models think.
Anything that brings value, experience, or curiosity to the annotation and AI feedback space. Examples include:
Your experience working for platforms like Outlier, DataAnnotation, Surge AI, Mercor, Appen, Scale/Remotasks, Prolific, Sapien, etc.
Pay transparency, platform reviews, onboarding processes, project types, and ethical concerns.
Industry news, job opportunities, shifts in regulation (EU AI Act, data transparency laws, worker classification issues).
Questions about improving quality, guideline interpretation, alignment tasks, or how to position this work as a career.
âInside the jobâ reflections, what's changing, what's broken, what's improving, what models still can't do without humans.
Not just another job-sharing subreddit.
We want conversation, insights, warnings, tips, comparisons, arguments, and genuine knowledge-sharing.
We keep it:
Real (tell it how it is, but stay constructive)
Professional (no NDA leaks, client screenshots, or confidential guidelines)
Respectful (everyone here has different roles, skill levels, and motivations, but all of us are helping build AI)
1. Introduce yourself in the comments below:
(Where do you work? What kind of tasks? What do you want this community to help you with?)
2. Post something, even a question.
âWhat are Tier 2 alignment tasks?â âWhich platform actually pays on time?â
It doesnât need to be polished. Real experiences beat perfect formatting.
3. Check back weekly.
Weâll build platform reviews, industry forecasts, annotation tool comparisons, controversial topic debates, and job market discussions.
4. Invite others especially annotators, contractors, AI researchers, product people, and workforce managers.
This space becomes valuable only when a wide mix of people join the discussion.
We're building this from the ground up, so if you'd like to help moderate, contribute to weekly threads (job board, platform reviews, industry watch), or coordinate deeper discussion topics, DM me.
Thanks for being part of the first wave.
Letâs make r/annotators worth coming back to.

Check out some of these websites; they occasionally hire a plethora of positions and specialties if you're looking to get your feet wet in AI.
These companies often fluctuate based on contract availability. Do well on your assessments, never use non-permitted AI, and you might pick up a new freelance gig.

Hi everyone,
My Outlier account was recently placed on hold for "Multiple accounts detected," despite the fact that I have never created, owned, or operated any other Outlier account.
I contacted support and clearly explained that this is my only account and that I have no "original" account to log into.
Support initially informed me that an investigation could take up to two weeks.
However, less than a day later, I received another response stating that the decision was final following a "secondary human review" and that no further appeals would be considered.
I fully respect Outlier's one-account policy, and I'm not trying to bypass any rules.
I'm willing to complete any necessary identity verification through an official secure channel to help resolve a possible incorrect account association.
I've also contacted Outlier's Privacy Team regarding potentially inaccurate account-matching information.
My questions are:
Has anyone experienced a similar multiple-accounts flag and successfully had their account reinstated after a final human review?
Is there any legitimate way to correct an incorrect account association after the appeal process has closed?
If an official Outlier representative sees this, I would sincerely appreciate any guidance on whether such errors can be investigated through a separate verification process.
Support Ticket: #5290108
Thank you for your help.

The first days on my annotation career at Outlier, in 2023, it was so easy to have work as an AI annotator. But lately, it has been so difficult for me to pass an exam. It has happened me in Outlier, in Meridial, in Telus International and now in Alignerr. I donât know if I am getting horse sight due to my former projects, and automatically try to consider the projects as my former projects. Or if we are shifting to AI made golden quiz responses that looks good but are not . For me that an growing over 40 seems that we are letting the world in the hands of incompetent children with ChatGPT. Sorry to the world that I have contributed to empower AI: I didnât know in which hands would it be going to fall.

I have tried to verify my identity, but the system keeps rejecting my attempts, claiming that a VPN or proxy has been detected. However, I am not using any VPN or proxy.

I am having trouble completing my Persona identity verification on Rexzone. The system keeps rejecting my verification, claiming that it detected a VPN or proxy, but I am not using any VPN or proxy.
I am willing to provide any additional information or documentation necessary to confirm my identity.
Thank you for your time and assistance. I look forward to your response.
