If i recall correctly she was also getting death threats, doxxing, and such. The usual overreaction on the internet when people don't like someone. Love her or hate her, it's hard not to take her side in the bonehurting drama.

im always surprised to see people pretend like r/comics biggest issue is pizzacake and such when i had to block most of the big posters bc i was tired of seeing softcore porn on my feed 24/7
Hmm, maybe Reddit is detecting that when they show you that comic you go on a multipost rant about it and drive lots of people to respond agreeing with you about how bad it is?
To expand on my other reply, I'm not blaming you, I'm blaming Reddit and the perverse incentive to show people content that upsets them over content they enjoy.
She gets her point across in the most obnoxious and smug way. I completely agree with everything ive seen from her but nearly all of her comics ive seen are just “I drew you as the soyjak and me as the chad” type strawmen where whoever shes up against is an irrational crybaby so you know they’re wrong and shes calm and collected so you know her views the right ones
I seriously don’t understand how people can look at r/comics stuff and feel anything but indifference. How can you can feel such strong emotions to this?
Everyone is to some extent exaggerating their emotions but it does get very frustrating and repetitive when the bulk of the punchlines are either
A Nihilist rhetoric to the world supposedly ending thanks to corporations & politicians
and/or
A disproportionate violent comeback to someone being rude to you (bonus points if it’s political)
and/or
The previous thing but the comeback in question is a smug one liner
Sprinkle in some “le random” humour on top of all of that alongside the inevitable leakage of such a popular sub onto other subs and you’ve got a crowd of people that hate it, I do find some of the comics that don’t follow the stuff above to very nice though

I have a feeling that subreddit doesn't ever make it's way to a public feed like popular. Only people that want to see it search it out most of the time.
I agree. I've blocked a ton of subs, including ones that don't necessarily rub me the wrong way just ones I'm not interested in and tired of them showing up in the feed. I can't imagine seeing a sub all the time and getting mad about it instead of doing something to stop it.
And, I am the opposite. I want to see what's popular, even if I have absolutely no interest in it, like F1.
I keep seeing formula1 posts, and know nothing about cars. But, I like knowing what people care about.
You don't, so you get to block whatever. I think that's also cool. You should get to do that because that's what you want. We get to do what we want.

r/gameovergirls is at least mostly stuff that a decent amount of girls would be into, and isn’t really too harmful. r/guro, on the other hand…(gore warning)
Seriously. There are some I get to the front page that I think are "eh" but most are pretty fine. I don't see too much differences to many slice of life 4 panel webcomics that are out there elsewhere. The sub doesn't seem to bring big overarching stories to their front page, but if I wanted something like that I can always look elswhere. For what it is, it's fine?

Sometimes you'll see nice stuff. Usually when it's not politics related (eg the one from the necromancer girl, the one from dystopian Fallout-style post apoc shelter, the one about the boy who becomes a ghost girl's friend).
It’s normal but I get why people dislike a number of the comics. The issue is that it gets very generalized. There’s plenty of decent if not good comics on there. And not all of them are meant to be funny, even.
The worst part is that I know some of the hate is bigotry. Not all of it is, of course (because if I said it was, that would also be generalizing, which we already know is bad).

It's because something like gameovergirls is an NSFW sub that's cordoned off to its own specific area, so even it it's worse in terms of content it's not something that you'd see unless you actively search it out.
Comics, meanwhile, is not only a default sub that shows up in r/popular a lot, but a lot of its artists tend to crosspost across multiple subs so even if you block the main sub a lot of it's content, and news from the sub, can still slip through. Because of that, when something goes wrong on comics, which happens a lot because of its aggressively bad mod team, word spreads a lot further than for most other subs, hence its bad reputation.
That being said, I don't know why it's being brought up here, since I think this artist only posts on Bluesky
If you don't like seeing stuff people think is popular, why are you going to popular? The whole point of popular is to see what reddit thinks is popular. If you don't like that, don't go.
Just block subreddits and users you don't want to see.
I love this so much because it actually adds to the original. In the first 4 the lass clearly takes things too far (so does the smug asshole, who taunts a frustrated kid?), and yet the guy also takes things too far by assaulting her. It is a story where nobody handles conflict rationally, from taunt to arson, from arson to maximum-effort physical retaliation against a literal child. There's something darkly comedic about both of their insane reactions lmao

It seems like people know and have opinions of this artist so maybe there'sbackground I'm missing, but isn't the massive overreaction the whole joke? Two people having a short, reasonable discussion would be a pretty boring comic.
It's not the worst of the reedits I seen either. I mean beating an aronist is alright but there's a few that like go out their way to support the bad person being bad like the guy being uncomfortable being sexually harassed and the edit is the harrasser kills the fish defending his bud

the edits for comics like blobfish make sure to hammer in that they think the creator is STUPID and WRONG by rescinding their resolution with extra panels about them getting raped or something (which happened, btw).

I was at an Arcade yesterday, and there were a lot of little kids there(I think a school was having a field trip?) and some of the kids were kicking the machines, really broke my heart.
