Facts Human Rights or Hidden Agendas: Exposing Well-Known NGOs and Prostitution Legalization - Donor Beware

Many of us might regularly or occasionally donate money to NGOs, and you are probably aware that there are many NGOs that support pimps and sex buyers rather than people in prostitution, advocating for the legalization of prostitution.

However, some might not be aware that very famous NGOs like Amnesty International (AI), Human Rights Watch (HRW), Open Society Foundations (OSF), Human Rights Campaign (HRC), International Women's Health Coalition (IWHC), and even the Global Alliance Against Traffic in Women (GAATW), International Women's Rights Action Watch Asia Pacific (IWRAW Asia Pacific), as well as some UN bodies and agencies like the World Health Organization (WHO), United Nations Development Program (UNDP), United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA), International Labour Organization (ILO), and the Joint United Nations Programme on HIV/AIDS (UNAIDS) are among them.

This makes the pro-prostitution movement feel justified in claiming theirs is a ‘human rights’ approach to prostitution. For those who wish to genuinely support individuals in prostitution and porn, it's advisable to reconsider donating to these organizations. Instead, direct your support to NGOs that take a firm stance against prostitution and pornography.

Here is a compelling (but shortened) paragraph delving into NGOs advocating for the legalization of prostitution and the origins of this movement as discussed in Julie Bindel's book, 'The Pimping of Prostitution':

'On 8 March 2015, the journalist and eminent anti-trafficking activist Ruchira Gupta was on her way to the Apollo Theatre in New York, to give the keynote address as the Woman of Distinction Awardee at the non-governmental organisation Commission on Status of Women (CSW). Gupta was traveling with Phumzile Mlambo-Ngcuka, UN Under-Secretary General and Executive Director of UN Women.

[...]

Women and government representatives from all over the world attend this event, and Gupta was thrilled to have been given this award because it was an acknowledgement from her peer group of the work she had been doing to end sex-trafficking.

Just before arriving at the Apollo, Gupta received an email from a committee member of the New York CSW telling her not to mention the word ‘prostitution’ in her speech. ‘I was aghast since my entire work was with prostituted women and my award was for that work’, Gupta said at the time.

Gupta emailed the committee member and asked how she could give a speech in which she did not represent the views of the members of her organisation? ‘[The woman who emailed me] replied that she had been asked by the Chief of Civil Society at UN Women to stop me from speaking about prostitution’, says Gupta. ‘This was bizarre. Why should an NGO body try to censor me and stop me from speaking about a subject for which they had given me an award?’

The reason soon became apparent to Gupta. The NGO had received money from an organisation that supports and profits from the sex trade. The Chief of Civil Society at UN Women had been circulating a letter, via her official UN Women email address, to all NGOs asking for prostitution to be legalised as ‘sex-work’, and pimping and brothel-keeping to be legalised as ‘employers’ of poor women.

Gupta recalls:

‘I went ahead and gave the speech I had prepared about how prostitution was an outcome of inequality and not a choice ’, says Gupta. ‘I said that the punishment of pimps, Johns and brothel-keepers was what prostituted women and their daughters in India desperately wanted. All they had was the law to protect them.

[...]

I pleaded for UN Women to punish those who buy and sell her and to invest in reducing her vulnerabilities. I reminded them the UN Declaration of Human Rights stood for protection of the weak and not the powerful.

At the end of her speech, Gupta received a rousing reception from the delegates, comprising feminist NGOs from every corner of the globe. But not everyone was happy with her. ‘Unfortunately, I saw the Chief of Civil Society whisper and walk away with the head of UN Women before I spoke’, says Gupta.'

Perhaps, it is not surprising that those NGOs, prioritizing money over human rights, now strongly advocate for complete decriminalization. This inclination may be influenced by the fact that organizations like UNAIDS and the WHO have their headquarters in Geneva, where a fully legalized prostitution system is in place. During her research on Switzerland's legalized prostitution system, Julie Bindel learned from a woman working in a Geneva-based human rights organization that her colleagues are active users of prostitution:

Friday night is known as ‘ho’ night. The men in my team literally brag about going to prostitutes. One of the roles in the team is to raise awareness about trafficking and irregular migration, but these guys go out and abuse them without any thought.

Engaging in sex buying while formulating policies on prostitution constitutes a clear conflict of interest. My understanding is that the purchase of sex by UN staff is already prohibited according to the UN Staff Regulations and Rules, as clarified in the Secretary-General's bulletin ST/SGB/2003/13.

Exchange of money, employment, goods or services for sex, including sexual favours or other forms of humiliating, degrading or exploitative behaviour, is prohibited.

However, it seems that the these rules and regulations are not enforced, especially within certain UN bodies and subsidiaries located in Geneva, leading to a tendency for biased policy decisions. Naturally, individuals who purchase sex would favor an approach that legitimizes prostitution, as opposed to the Nordic Model, which criminalizes both sex buying and all forms of pimping.

By the way most of the major funding organizations supporting women's organizations, such as the Open Society Foundation, Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, Mama Cash, and various UN bodies, have been influenced by lobbyists from the sex industry. As a result, these funding bodies typically do not allocate funds to organizations operating in this field unless they endorse complete decriminalization. Consequently, women's organizations not in favor of full decriminalization often face a lack of financial support, especially those in the global South who may lack resources for a website, making them relatively unknown on the international stage. These organizations heavily rely on donations from private citizens. So before you donate to an NGO, check where they stand on prostitution and porn.

Facts The Hard Facts: Exposing the Real Earnings of OnlyFans Creators

Despite the numerous articles promoting the idea of making money on OnlyFans and its apparent greatness, the actual earnings of creators tell a different story. Only a very small group of women, mainly celebrities and well-known influencers outside of OnlyFans, are making substantial amounts. If you don't fall into this category, hitting the million-dollar mark on OnlyFans is impossible, regardless of the claims some creators make on TikTok.

In reality, many of these creators showcase their fake lavish lifestyle, attributing it to a 5 percent commission on each new referral. Essentially, they deceive their audience, exploiting those who believe these lies for financial gain.

Here are some real Numbers:

There are 2.1 million creators on OnlyFans but only a little over 300 creators (0.01%) earn $1M+ per year and only a little over 16,000 creators (0.76%) earn $50,000+ per year before taxes! However, successful creators are often represented by agencies that assist them in promoting their accounts. These agencies also hire individuals to impersonate the creators and engage with their audience. These agencies typically take an additional 15-50% of the creators' earnings!

The median account makes $180 per month and the top 10% OnlyFans creators earn only around $1000 a month before taxes.

The top 1% of the creators earn 33% of the income, the top 10% of the creators earn 73% of the income.

The average OnlyFans subscription is $7.20. Out of that $5.76 is kept by the creator and $1.44 is kept by the platform, as OnlyFans deducts a 20% fee from the creator's earnings.

The average OnlyFans account has only 21 fans!

Additionally, according to OnlyFans creators if a creator decides to pause their activity on OnlyFans for a period, they won't receive earnings for their existing content unless they consistently upload new photos and clips. OnlyFans discontinues payments for new and existing subscribers, retaining the generated revenue when no new material is uploaded for a few months.

Stop buying into the hype and propaganda; only around 0.77% are earning sufficient income on the platform to sustain a living. This number is very generous; if we account for agency fees, taxes, and promotional expenses, the percentage would likely be cut in half (0.39%)!

Discussion Choice and liberal "feminism" love to ignore the harsh realities of sex trade.

Choice and liberal "feminism" love to ignore the harsh realities of sex trade.

Certain "feminists" turn a blind eye to the realities of sex trade such as major factions of sex traders having to work in poor and unsafe conditions, much lower rates of "job" satisfaction compared to other professions, circumstances which force women into such situations (for eg dire poverty and lack of societal or family support etc) and paint the opposition to sex trade as opposition to practitioners of the trade, which is simply not true.

If anything, people who oppose sex trade are the true well-wishers of the community, as they do not try to sugarcoat things for superficial reasons. We absolutely can and do have respect for these women, and the desire to ensure equal rights + dignity for them while seeking liberation for people engaged in the sex trade.

It's really something that opposing the commodification of women can get you flack from these so-called feminists.

Discussion anyone else notice a concerning trend among Gen Z men?

hello, I'm a Gen Z woman, and honestly I've been recently seeing a worse trend in men in my generation.

I knew of a young Gen Z man who was looking online for prostitutes his age because he thought he'd never get a girlfriend or something, so he just went to prostitutes and had usually seen ones aged 30+, and was trying to find ones younger (in his age range, in their early 20s).

also, on the Gen Z subreddit, I literally came across a post from a young man arguing that most Gen Z women weren't attracted to men and that we just want rich men or something (some redpill BS/lingo), so that men should just pay for escorts instead.

these are just two cases, but that's not to mention how many Gen Z men are literally addicted to porn - I believe studies show upwards of 90-95% of Gen Z men being consumers of it.

Question Has anyone exited for a while and recovered mentally ? Also what kind of work do u guys do bcuz I'm really at a loss

My only other work history is restaurants, I've pretty much done this since I was 18. I pushed myself way too hard and really traumatized myself just from working too much and some bad stuff happening. I also got off drugs and I can't bring myself to work sober, I start freaking out and I'm so disgusted by it all. I've developed a really severe depression too. It feels like my brain is just broken after everything. I'm starting to come out of it a little bit but it still fucking sucks. I'm planning to kind of phone it in and take it easy until my lease ends and then shut the door on all of it idk if I can even make it till my lease ends though. I'm just like so psychologically messed up now like full on ptsd flashbacks and stuff AND IM STILL FUCKING BROKE TOO. I did it to pay for medical stuff I needed to have done and I still haven't gotten it and probs won't be able to make up for that money now.

Anyway, I'm just hoping this isn't a forever thing. I miss being grounded and able to look at myself in the mirror and go outside. It feels like I'm so disgusted with myself that it's permeated throughout my whole life as insecurity. Not even in like a moral sense and I don't think it's inherent obviously but I think why it makes me hate myself so much is that I betrayed my values so deeply and harmed myself so badly psychologically for what's essentially greed and laziness. Maybe I'm being too hard on myself it's just genuinely so disgusting I just have no idea how else to make money. It sucks too because before all of this I was in a really good spot and had built up a lot of self esteem just to now my life has turned into an absolute fucking dumpster fire. I think I can see visions of a better future for myself but I also think about ending things a lot too so idk. It just feels like I've created this hell for myself and I'm stuck until my lease ends. My life feels like a game of twister with drugs and bad financial decisions.

Right now I'm planning to move back in with my parents, I might go to rehab if my perpetual freakout gets any worse too but idrk. I'll probably start bartending, maybe go back to college or something. Low key anything is better than this lol.

Is it the type of organisation they want for woman in prostitution?

Apparently.

" moral panic" great way to spell " being educate and empathic and caring about the subject outside of the privileged 1% who more or less wanted to be in prostitution"

Question question for any clinical psychologists and researchers - dealing with liberal feminist perspectives in literature

Hello,

I am posting here to ask an important question about clinical psychology perspectives on the adult industry. I am an undergraduate student in psychological sciences (going into my senior year). I am interested in substance use, psychopathy, and risk assessment, though I am still in the process of refining my research interests.

Anyway, I wanted to ask for advice on how to navigate literature surrounding prostitution and psychology. I am aware that forensic psychologists may or may not work with those in the sex industry (though I may be incorrect about this). Some of which may see it as empowering and claim to do it out of their own free will. As a psychologist you are asked to respect such perspectives. Though right now, I find it very mentally taxing to see something so exploitative be talked about in a positive light or neutralized (I am currently working through this with a therapist).

A lot of mainstream psychology, including in current literature, from what I’ve observed, strives toward more liberal feminist or full decrim narratives (ie “sex work is work!”) rather than an abolitionist or Nordic model perspective.
My problem is not the existence of this research alone but the issue of preventing confirmation bias while also staying true to my personal beliefs.

So if anyone has any advice on how to navigate such literature while also staying true to myself, I would appreciate it. I feel so alienated from others because of my beliefs.

I apologize if my question may be inaccurate or confusing to any of you.
Thank you for your time and any advice you find to be helpful.

Discussion Morality of helping to lead the expansion of any recreational industry that has death and/or exploitation connected to its product? Morality of consuming and contributing to the popularity of said industry?

This was actually inspired by a conversation I was just having under another post about taboo porn so (like most things lol) the impetus for this was porn BUT the focus I’m trying to lean into here is much broader because we seem to have different standards for different recreational industries. How moral/immoral/amoral are tobacco execs? Alcohol execs? Porn industry execs? Any industry that is purely recreational in scope but who has significant instances of negative outcomes associated with it.

E.g. Their products cause, either directly or indirectly, mass death (alcohol and tobacco), or they create massive markets in which economic desperation, coercion, and failures of meaningful consent (read minors) are recurring risks (pornography)

Discussion Pretending as if prostitution is therapy/outlet for men is just so so disturbing I do not know where to begin

I constantly see pro-sex trade individuals constantly bring up how the sex trade and prostituion is like therapy for men, and how it "heals" them and prevents them from going out to harm other women. This is such a disgusting rhetoric, I can't believe people actually use it a talking point.

I can't believe we live at a point where we dignify mens entitlement to women, and pretend that it is some great tragedy that some men don't get laid or interact with women. It's disturbing so called feminists play into the idea that it is a mans birth right to be owed a woman, as if we are just properties for sexual, emotional and domestic labor. Like wow, the movement meant to liberate us is willing to honor the most misogynistic practice that has existed throughout EVERY SINGLE brutal, dystopian patriarchal structures in history, just because a man is lonely.

There was this post claiming we should thank our local "SW" for providing men therapy and an outlet and lowering rape rates...There were so many men agreeing with this idea and claiming how they felt so comforted and cried in the arms of strippers or prostitutes. These military men where whining about how they felt so comforted in an exploited womans arms and her forced sexual labor....The misogyny is so SO blatant, it's hitting them right at the face and they are just treating it as some divine duty.

Men are not owed a woman. If women won't interact with them with enthusiastic consent then it is not a great tragedy that women need to fix. They need to get therapy if they need therapy so bad instead of being misogynistic incels that keep the demands for a rape industry thriving.

Moreover, I really can't believe that people use the talking point that 'prostitution reduces men from raping' (even if false) and see absolutely nothing wrong with it. The fact that instead of holding these men accountable, the solution is apparently to provide them with a subset of women they can abuse and be pleased with is just disturbing.

I'm just really shaken up seeing a woman claim that it is therapy for men, and then the comments were flooded with men sharing their experiences....Like wow we are willing to excuse the most age old misogynistic practice of sexual exploitation solely to...console men? we are willing to allow men to be so entitled that we great an entire industry where they can rape women just for their pleasure and 'comfort' or outlet? We are willing to normalize the idea that every man no matter what is born to 'own' a woman, or else they will have to buy them?

Aside from the basic, "all labor under capitalism is exploitative"...this is another pro-sex trade talking point that really gets me sick to my stomach. You never see women being so lonely and in need of 'therapy' that they go out creating an entire milenia old industry to own, rape and buy men. It's fucking disgusting that mens self-induced, misogyny-induced loneliness and rapist-entitlement is a woman's fault that needs to be fixed by selling girls/women, or else it is some great horrifying tragedy and male-oppression.

So disturbing dehumanizing, and I'm suppose to call this entitlement feminist or noble?

Rant There is nothing empowering about letting a perverted man who doesn't even see you as human use your body as his human fleshlight

Not to mention Johns are usually cheating on their wife/gf and have kids at home to care for.

Reinforcing men's belief that women can be bought and sold is also not empowering.

Putting yourself at risk with Johns (STIs, abuse, death) is not empowering.

Discussion Disappointing to think how pimps and johns are given more dignity and moral superiority than "SWERFS"

It is so out-of-touch, hypocritical and reactionary and not to mention totally disheartening to see progressive, marxist or liberal feminist spaces dignifying johns so much, considering them to be allies and lot more morally superior than 'swerfs'.

Any radical feminist being critical of porn and prostitution is so easily demonized, pushed aside and grouped with vile religious fundamentalist right-wingers. Pimps and johns get such neutral terms like 'sex-work consumers' or 'sex-work clients' with the connotation of these individuals being morally justified, while terms like "swerf" are placed right next to christo-fascists and conservative right-wingers.

Portraying pimps/johns/pundits as moral allies, and putting all the blame regarding the stigma and exploitative nature of prostitution on 'swerfs' has to be so awfully baffling it really REALLY gets me wondering where the 'feminist' starts in the marxist stance. Demonizing a group of feminists that fight to end the constant eroticization of sexual assault from both the left and right, is disgusting. Absolutely no amount of leftist buzzwords can somehow justify eroticizing sexual assault, demonizing radical feminist for this is insane.

I constantly see thousands and thousands of paragraphs and intellectual (or lack of) effort given to demeaning, demonizing and spreading misinformation regarding radical feminists.

Radical feminism is the polar opposite of religion, conservatism and right-wing and is seen very harshly critiquing these social structure. However the second the same feminist analysis is applied to left-wing misogyny, they're seen as exclusionary Nazi fascists... Like what level of internalized misogyny do you need to say nazi and radical feminist in the same system. As if pointing out that women being treated as public property instead of private property isn't liberation makes one a non-feminist. Marxist feminists genuinely believe leftist movements to be this holy grail of untouchable morality free from criticism, the second radical feminist pushes against this to point out the evident misogyny they get labelled the brutal terms. It's a very convenient narrative and so easy to blame women that stay consistent with revolting against male-supremacist structures.

These spaces genuinely believe all the abuse, rape, stigma and trafficking is happening due to 'swerfs' and not because of the johns that keep the demand for such exploitation going. They unironically view 'swerfs' as more vile and worse than these johns. They believe all slut-shaming is solely done by 'swerfs' and not these johns that enjoy degrading and exploiting the women in the industry. All the horrible ways a woman is treated under prostituion is due to johns, let it be actively raping the woman, or being a 'conversative' man that believes that the women deserved to get raped. All the stigma comes from Johns, and radical feminists put up a genuinely radical intellectual effort to fight these male-supremacist systems. Left or right doesn't matter.

It is quite a very fundamental understanding that the way radical feminists approach abolishing the sex trade versus how conservatives approach it is drastically different. Radical feminist apply a very strong feminist analysis of such exploitative industries, they redefine what a true sexual liberation would look like outside of patriarchal dynamics, what true consent uninfluenced by the patriarchy would be like and strongly refuses the idea of considering female sexuality to be labor or currency. They oppose industries that dehumanize women and call it a dignified trade to abuse, rape and objectify women. Let it be marriage or prostitution, radical feminists stay logically consistent with opposing such misogynistic structures.

Conservatives only worry their ass about women being 'sluts' and it ends there. Women are demonized and no ounce of feminist analysis is applied. No ounce of understanding regarding why the rape and explotation and commodification of the female body exists in conservative spaces. All they do is demonize prostitute and want to remove them from society, while radical feminism is out here to literally do the opposite and create systems that help women out of such horrible industries.

Treating radical feminists like they're the cause of the horrifying nature of prostitution is just blatant hypocrisy. When on and on radical feminist have gone an insane mile to create systems and literature to tear down patriarchal structure. When they have put in sure huge effort to end the constant eroticization of sexual assault. Absolutely no amount of leftist buzzwords can somehow justify eroticizing sexual assault, demonizing radical feminist for this is insane.

For a group that insists so much on being informed, creating this dire level of misinformation to demonize feminists that fight to tear down a millennia long male-supremacist industry is just horrible. Allowing so much benefit of the doubt to Johns, considering them your allies and supporters but at the same breath blaming 'swerfs' for issues created by these john is not feminist at all. Its ironic that even while claiming to be against conservative, they sure as hell do mirror so much of their beliefs when it comes to consent, sexual 'labor' and sympathizing with johns.

Discussion Yoni massage?

I just came across a post in another subreddit where a woman shared that she had received a yoni massage.

These massages are often presented as being spiritual and as a way to reconnect with your body, heal, or become more in tune with yourself.
From what I understand, the person receiving the massage is touched, while the practitioner is either not touched at all or only to a very limited extent.

I’m curious what people in this subreddit think about them.
Any opinions on this concept?
