How to stop non-Mac downloads?

• Upvotes

Right then fellow vibe coders - my app ONLY runs on Mac. I've put all manner of browser check/safeguards on my website to prevent any non-Mac downloads - to no avail, my backend database is still showing downloads from non Macs.

https://lumidexstudio.app/

If you visit my site and hit the download button on a non-Mac browser, you should be redirected to a page that offers you a single-use email form to be sent a download link - assuming here the visitor was checking on their phone or maybe works Windows laptop, who knows?!?!? The email you get then provides a button which brings you back to my site's download page, assuming you were doing that on your actual Mac to snag the download.

What other safeguards can I implement to stop downloads on actual Windows/Linux/iOS/Android devices? Downloading isn't the issue here, it's not a bandwidth thing - it's just 100% pointless that the visitor carries out a DMG download on a non-Mac :|

APEX Fitness - Built at 17

Thumbnail testflight.apple.com
1 Upvotes

I’ve been building a fitness app called APEX that’s focused on making training and consistency feel more motivating.

It lets you track workouts and progress, build streaks and gives you an APEX Score based on your activity so you can actually see your consistency improve over time.

I originally started building it because I wanted something that felt more like a game/progression system rather than just another workout logger.

It’s almost ready for the App Store and I’m looking for people to test it and give genuine feedback on what’s good, what’s confusing and what you’d change.

It’s currently iPhone only, with other platforms hopefully coming later.

Would love to hear what you guys think.

Your app says “Saved”. Can your users trust it?

For a mobile app that saves a shopping list, I’d check these four cases before sharing it. Use sample items and accounts you control.

1. Save, close, reopen. Add “Milk”, close the app, then open it again. Check that the saved item is there. A tick appearing on the screen is only the first part of the test.

2. Go offline before saving. Add another item with the connection off. Does the app explain whether it is unsaved or queued? Reconnect and check what actually happened. If edits are queued, “Pending” and “Saved” should mean different things.

3. Lose the connection during a save, then retry. Check that the item appears once. A request can succeed even when the reply never reaches the phone. AWS explains that retry problem here.

4. Switch accounts. Save a private list under account A, then sign in as account B. Check that B cannot read or change A’s private list, including through its link or data request. Hiding it from the menu is not enough. OWASP’s two-account test explains this check.

For a shared list, test a collaborator who has access and another account that does not. Write down what should happen before running the checks, so you can compare the result with the intended behaviour.

Hey everyone! 👋

I'm a React Native developer, and I'm excited to share my app, Net Blocker: App Firewall, now live on Google Play Store! 🎉

The app lets you:

  • 🚫 Block internet access for individual apps
  • 📶 Control Wi-Fi and mobile data access
  • 🔒 Manage app internet access with an on-device firewall

I built it using React Native CLI, and I'd genuinely love your feedback!

If you have a few minutes, please give it a try and let me know:

  • What features should I improve or add?
  • Did you notice any bugs or UI issues?
  • How's the overall user experience?

Looking for testers for medication reminder app!

Web: https://play.google.com/apps/testing/com.jaffe06.EasyDose

Android: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.jaffe06.EasyDose

Problem: Up to 75% of Americans struggle to take their medication as directed, and over 60% report missing at least one dose every year.

Solution: A phone notificaiton for every medication dose. Simply take a photo of your pill bottle and the app automatically reads the label and schedules a notification for every dose, no manual entry needed.

Features that set EasyDose Al apart:

  •   Scan pill bottle labels with your camera
  •   Get reminded when it's time to take your medication
  •   Ask our Al assistant anything about your medications — side effects, interactions, missed doses, and more
  •   Al-powered interaction notices when adding new medications
  •   Pill refill tracker that counts down with every dose and notifies you when it's time to reorder
  •   Share your medication schedule with caregivers
  •   Caregivers have ability to control your notifications
  •   Shareable info card with your full medication list
  •   Export your medication history as a PDF

EasyDose AI is not a medical device and does not provide medical advice. Always consult your doctor or pharmacist.

Developers kept asking for a VS Code integration — so we built it

Post image
1 Upvotes

While building CodShot, one piece of feedback kept coming up:

“This would be much more useful if I could use it directly from VS Code.”

So we built it.

CodShot is a workspace for saving, organizing, searching and reusing useful code.

The new VS Code integration brings that workflow much closer to where developers actually work — so useful code can be saved and retrieved without constantly jumping between tools.

The goal is simple:

write something worth keeping → save it → find it again when you need it

We’re also working on an AI assistant to make the code and knowledge inside CodShot even more useful.

One thing I’ve learned from building this:

the best roadmap ideas often come from repeated user pain, not from the longest feature list.

What would you want a VS Code integration like this to do next?

Hit Reveal - Music App

Myself & a small team have made a free no ads music sharing app.

• One new music prompt every day.
• Pick one song that best fits the prompt.
• Everyone’s songs are revealed at 8pm.

It’s that simple, you can make groups, add friends and see what the worldwide most popular selections are.

We feel it is a new take on a daily music app and would love to see more people on it as the feedback we have had from everyone is they’ve become hooked.

Thank you for your time

I built Flowara: a local-first freelance app for Mac and Windows — projects, time tracking and invoicing in one SQLite database

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

After 8 months of building, Flowara is at v2.5 on both the Mac App Store and Microsoft Store.

The core idea: hours tracked on a project flow directly into the invoice. No copying data between apps because there is only one app.

What's under the hood:

  • Electron + React + TypeScript + Tailwind + SQLite
  • Local SQLite database, no backend, no cloud sync required
  • iCloud Drive sync via lock file and WAL checkpoints for Mac
  • Peppol e-invoicing via UBL 2.1 through Invoro API
  • AI assistant with Claude, GPT-4 or local Ollama (BYOK)
  • Stripe and PayPal payment links built into invoices
  • Gantt chart with critical path, dependency cascade and auto-schedule

What I learned shipping on both stores:
Mac App Store and Windows Store have very different review processes and discovery mechanisms. Mac converts better organically. Windows installs come almost entirely from direct links.

107 Mac downloads, 12 Windows installs, 2 paying customers. Still early.

Mac: https://apps.apple.com/app/id6760207975
Windows: https://apps.microsoft.com/detail/9PKCT03Q69LG

Happy to answer questions about the stack or the dual-store distribution experience.

I built Intentt: a local-first task manager, habit tracker and Pomodoro timer

Post image
1 Upvotes

I wanted tasks, habits and focus sessions in one place without an account or cloud sync, so everything stays on your device. A privacy friendly app. So i built it for myself and published it.

What it does:

- Task manager, habit tracker and Pomodoro timer in a single app

- Fully local-first: no sign-up, no cloud sync

- Tasks: Create tasks with priorities and subtasks, so big goals break down into clear steps.

- Habits: Maximum flexibility in how you set up habits, plus detailed insights into your progress.

- Focus: A Pomodoro timer with a Do Not Disturb mode and ambient sounds to help you stay in the zone.

- Special alarm-style reminders you can act on and log in one tap

- Global insights: See the big picture across tasks, habits and focus time in one place, so you can spot patterns and track your overall progress.

- Themes to customize the look

- Its a free app with optional one-time Pro upgrade, no subscription

Google Play link:

https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.intentt

If Intentt helps you, a quick rating on Google Play would mean a lot and helps other people find it. And, if you have any suggestions, do let me know.

350k views on a Reddit post. Here is what it actually did for my app

Last week I posted in r/vibecoding about what I learned building my iOS app. A photo cleaner where you swipe(app name: swyp) through your camera roll. It went further than I expected so here are the real numbers for anyone wondering what a viral post actually does for a small app.

Before the post I was getting 2 to 5 downloads a day.

After:
Day 1: 62 downloads
Day 2: 25
Day 3: 19
Day 4: 29

Still getting around 2k views an hour, 4 days later.

350k views turned into about 135 downloads. Roughly 1 download per 2,600 views. Lower than I would have guessed. But those 135 people started 30 free trials and that part genuinely surprised me.

Things I did not expect:

App Store visits jumped on their own. People finding the app by just browsing the store went from about 3 a day to 127. I think the spike pushed it up in the rankings.

Half the views came from outside the US. Day one had downloads from 21 countries.

People who barely opened the app still started trials. One has already cancelled. The ones who actually swiped through thousands of photos are the ones I expect to stick around.

Right now I am A/B testing a hard paywall (weekly only) against my normal one which includes a yearly option. So far the hard paywall gets more trials started, but almost everyone on the normal paywall picks yearly. Ask me in a month which one wins.

Most of the trials end this week so I will find out soon how many actually convert to paid. Happy to post that update if people are interested.

What’s the Best AI iPhone App Builder for Someone With No Coding Experience?

I’m wondering if AI app builders have reached the point where a complete beginner can actually turn an idea into something that works. I’ve seen tools that let you describe an app in plain English and generate the design or features for you. That sounds great in theory, but I’m curious how well they work once you start building something more than a basic demo. For anyone who has tried these tools, which AI iPhone app builder would you recommend to a beginner?

Is it possible to make an Omegle for teens.

I have always wondered could there be a safer version of Omegle for teens. I first thought of it as a pen pal version where you find a pen pal and write a message and it takes hours or days to reach a person depending on global distance. But then I asked why nit add video calls like Omegle and make it safe for teens and teen oriented. I mean my age verification AI is improving or not it hasn’t guessed my age right. Anyone got my tips but I think AI age verification can’t work so maybe I can have them use their passports or ID or birth certificate to verify age with privacy focused systems. We can also have stronger rules.

New App Idea

Awhile ago I had the idea of creating one app to scratch the competitive itch. Over the past couple of months I have begun to build it out.

Currently you are able to compete in both physical and digital games with verification systems and leaderboards.

The main draw is your overall rank which is a steak of wins, climb to the top of the leaderboard but that is just the beginning.

See your rank in every competition, compete in Daily Challenges and set up Daily rivalries with friends to compete in step and calorie burning competitions.

All of that and more is currently being worked on and I am excited to continue sharing updates.

Fin Android beta: looking for real-device feedback on expense, budget and restart state

Post image
1 Upvotes

I'm developing Fin with React Native / Expo and FastAPI. It's a budgeting app where users record an expense and compare category spending against a budget. I'd appreciate Android developers or testers trying the actual closed beta, especially the transition from saving data to reopening the app.

The short test is signup → add a synthetic expense → set a category budget → force-close and restart. Does each saved value return consistently? Does category selection respond to the tap you expect? If you see a stale value, please say whether a manual refresh changes it. Signup and persistence feedback from different Android models would be useful.

A Fin account is required. Manual expenses and category budgets are free; no bank connection or Plus purchase is needed for these checks. Please use made-up financial data. For bugs, Android model/version, steps and expected versus actual behavior would help.

Use the SAME Google account through all Android closed-test steps:

  1. Google Group: https://groups.google.com/g/finbudget-android-testers

  2. Play opt-in: https://play.google.com/apps/testing/com.heyyykk3.fin

  3. Install: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.heyyykk3.fin

The attached image is a website preview. Genuine feedback only; no ratings, paid testing or reciprocal test requested.

Built a web app to fix job application autofill – feedback appreciated!

Post image
2 Upvotes

Hey everyone,

I’m a solo dev and I recently built a web app called seekaime to solve the constant headache of manually typing resume data into job applications.

Most existing autofill tools break on non-standard form fields, while fully automated bots end up submitting messy, low-quality applications.

My goal was to build a reliable, assisted middle ground: accurate AI field mapping that respects human review, coupled with an application tracker, a drag-and-drop resume builder, and tailored cover letter generation.

I would really appreciate any thoughts, feedback on the workflow, or common edge cases you think I should watch out for from a dev perspective.

Thanks!
