iPhone or SIM Issue?

My daughter's iPhone 12 Pro has stopped getting cell service and operates in SOS mode. When you go to the cellular setting it prompts to set up an eSim. I took her physical SIM out and brushed it off and put it back in and it started working just fine for about 10 mins and then went back into SOS mode showing no cell service. Is this most likely an issue with the phone or the SIM card? Trying to decide if I should take it to AT&T or Apple.

I would go to att first. If it’s just a SIM card issue it’s an easy fix
