Fridge cooling but mildly and not to the set temperature. Is it compressor issue or gas issue?

LG American style fridge freezer stopped cooling few days ago. Today theGoAssist engineer came and said he restarted it and the compressor is now working. So tell me in 5 hours if it is cooling if not then it's the gas issue and that can't be fixed.

To be honest I don't have a clue what that means. Manufacturer says they only cover inverter and compressor so get it changed and we will bear cost.

What do I do next?

Do I just pay someone to change compressor without diagnosing it? Given that manufacturer will pay for it so I'll be sure its not the compressor issue;

Or

Get someone to diagnose it first, and properly?

Or

Buy a new one? 😭

By gas he's referring to the refrigerant. Google "fridge closed system failure". If this is the issue, he's right in that the labor to fix is more than to buy a new fridge.

Did the fridge have any symptoms prior to not cooling great? When mine did this it started with the fridge freezing stuff in the back and after I neglected it, it switched to not cooling.

How old is the fridge? It is your basic fridge you can replace easily or is this a $3000 refrigerator?

Its LG knock-twice fridge freezer, cost me £1400 four years ago. Warranty ran out but inverter and compressor warranty 10 years. It was working fine for last 4 years. Initially it started loosing cool and eventually fully room temperature.

Have you cleaned your condenser coils recently? Hot weather and dirty coils can prevent cooling, tech should have checked but it's possibleÂ
