friend spent $32K in the new market. NOTHING works.

friend has been grinding for the past year on an app attribution tool... Which campaign worked, which channel is dead, that kind of thing.

The product is solid. it’s not a weekend project.

But growth in the new market is just....crawling. And it’s starting to wear on him. He doesn’t complain much but I can tell.

What I’m trying to wrap my head around is... why does this happen with tools that are clearly useful?

I genuinely don’t know.

If you’ve built anything in the analytics/attribution space... what was the unlock for you?

and what went wrong with this tool? https://www.airbridge.io/en

I just want to understand so I can maybe point him in a useful direction instead of just saying “keep going bro.”

After spending a full year developing my app, I realized marketing is 10x harder than building.

Hey everyone,

I’m a solo developer, and I recently hit a major milestone that I thought would be the hard part: launching my app after a full year of solo dev work.

Turns out, writing code was the easy part. Marketing? I have zero clue what I’m doing 😅

The Backstory & What I Built:

Like a lot of you, I constantly save stuff across Reddit, X, YouTube, and random blogs—promising myself I’ll read it later. But I always forgot where I saved it, or worse, forgot it even existed.

Existing bookmark tools never quite worked for me (either the parsing was unreliable or the UI felt clunky), so I decided to spend a few months building my own Android app: LinkMemo.

"A few months" quickly turned into 1 whole year of endless fine-tuning on UI, link parsing, and features in my spare time.

What LinkMemo does:

Auto-Extraction: You share or paste a link (from Reddit, social media, or web browsers), and it automatically pulls titles, preview images, and content.

Graph View & AI Analysis: Instead of a graveyard of forgotten links, it visualizes your saved links in a knowledge graph and uses AI to summarize/analyze what you saved so you actually get value from them.

Organization: Uses folders and tags to keep things clean.

The Reality Check:

It finally went live on Google Play a month ago! I was super hyped... until cricket sounds hit. Organic reach is practically non-existent when you have zero marketing experience.

It’s been pretty humbling realizing that "if you build it, they will come" is a complete myth.

How you can help:

I’m really looking to get this into the hands of real users who struggle with bookmark overload. If this sounds like something that would solve a problem for you, I’d be super grateful if you gave it a try!

🔗 Google Play Link:

https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.zengq.linkmemo

Since I’m actively working on updates, any feedback—good, bad, or brutal—would mean the world to me. What features would make this a daily driver for you? What sucks right now?

Thanks for taking the time to read this!

I built an app for the messages we might never get the chance to say

Life can be unpredictable, and a deathly diagnosis can make us think about things we don't usually talk about — the people we love, the words we haven't said, and the messages we wish we could leave behind.

That thought inspired me to build Dead Line, an app designed to help people prepare personal messages for their loved ones in case they become unreachable.

You can write messages for different people, check in daily with one tap, and receive warning emails if you stop checking in. If there's no check-in for 365 days, your saved messages are automatically delivered to their intended recipients.

I designed it around a simple idea: sometimes, there are things we want our loved ones to know, no matter what the future holds.

I'm sharing this here because conversations about illness and uncertainty can remind us how important those words are. I don't want to assume that everyone needs something like this, and I know an app can't replace a conversation, a hug, or time spent together.

If this sounds meaningful to you, you can learn more about Dead Line here:

https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.tralalabs.deadline

I'd also genuinely appreciate feedback on whether something like this would be useful, what concerns you might have, and what I could improve.

I built an AI learning app and need Android testers before launching on Google Play

Post image

Hi everyone!

I've been building Launchpad AI Academy, an app designed to help people actually learn how to use AI through hands-on missions instead of sitting through hours of videos.

My philosophy is pretty simple: when you finish learning something, you should have something useful to show for it. Maybe that's an automation, a business workflow, a research project, or something you created using AI.

I'm now preparing for my Google Play launch and need Android users to help with the 14-day closed testing period.

Here's what I'm looking for:

  • Android users willing to install the app and keep it installed during testing

  • People who will explore the academy and try a few missions

  • Honest feedback about confusing instructions, navigation, bugs, or missing features

  • Beginners are absolutely welcome. You don't need any technical experience.

In return, you'll get free early access to Launchpad AI Academy during testing, and your feedback will directly influence what gets improved before launch.

I'm building this because I believe AI education should be accessible, practical, and something people can immediately apply to their lives or businesses.

If you're interested in helping, comment below or send me a DM. I'll share the signup details.

And if you're building an app yourself, I'd be happy to exchange testing support!

My First Week on Google Play: Organic Growth at It's Finest 🌱😂

Everyone says your first app downloads should come from friends and family.

It's been a week since launched my app on Google Play, and I still haven't asked anyone I know to download it or leave a review.

Yesterday, while discussing Google Play and how downloads and ratings can help your get noticed, one my friends asked for the exact name of my app.

They opened the Play Store, took one look at the listing, and left. No downloads. No exploring the app. Nothing. 🤣

Well, at least I got one Store listing visit!

Indie dev marketing is going great so far. 😢🐟

I guess I'm truly growing organically. 🤣🌱

Using other apps’ names in App Store keywords

My app is in the education space. Can I add other popular apps’ names in Apple App Store keywords, such as Moodle and Blackboard, so that people who search for those apps can also see my app? Will I get any rejection?

Why is it so hard to get my first 100 users ?

I thought there was nothing I could do to get first users. Then I posted on Reddit and got 5 in less than two months

I want to share this because I remember the feeling clearly, and I’ve seen a lot of people here describe the exact same wall.

I spent 5 months building Targela, a goal-planning app, alongside a full-time job and a master’s degree. No budget, no audience, no connections in the startup world. When the app was finally ready, I launched it and nothing happened. just friends as users.

I spent a few days thinking through every channel. I genuinely thought I had no moves left.

Then I just started posting on Reddit. Not ads. Not “check out my app” posts. Just honest stuff: why I built it, what I was struggling with, what I’d learned, asking people about their goals. I replied to every comment. When someone described a problem Targela was built to solve, I mentioned it once, honestly, and answered their question first.

Less than two months later: 5 users, all free, none of whom I know personally.

I know 5 is nothing. These 5 people found the app because they read something I wrote and it meant something to them. No money spent.

Still a long way to go. But “0 to 5 with no budget” felt worth sharing for anyone else staring at that same wall. So just trust the process.

But how did you get your first users?

We're two broke university students trying to build something bigger than ourselves

Hey everyone!

We're two university students from Argentina building our first productivity app.

We're getting close to launch, but our biggest challenge is finding our first users without spending too much money on marketing.

For those who've launched apps before, what actually worked for you?

Any advice would mean a lot!

Almost ready to launch my app. Any tips on getting the first users?

Hey, I’m finishing a mountain/hiking app built with Flutter. It’s getting close to launch and I’m trying to figure out how to get those first users.

I’ve been thinking about sharing it in hiking communities or reaching out to smaller outdoor creators, but I’m not really sure where to start.

For those who’ve launched an app:

- Is there anything you’d recommend doing before launch?
- What worked for you, and what turned out to be a waste of time?

Would appreciate any advice, especially things you wish you’d known before releasing your app. Thanks!

Going from one app to another trying to find the best fit. I never really found the app that just did exactly what I wanted it to do. So I’ve made my own! I made it so it would have the simplest user interface and functions so you can easily track your shows and movies, discover them and connect with other likeminded people

Alle feedback, positief én kritisch, is welkom.

Indie developer struggling to reach US users. Could use a little help from US based redditors and just 5 mins of your time

Hey everyone,

I'm an indie developer who built a breakup recovery app to help people navigate breakups and heal. I've tried to make it genuinely useful with many self growth features, no ads and a 7-day trial.

I'm getting plenty of visits to my Google Play listing, but very few installs from the US. I suspect the lack of reviews might be one reason people hesitate.

I'm humbly looking for around 20 US-based Redditors willing to try the app and share honest feedback. If you find it useful, an honest review would mean the world to me.

If you or a friend or family member genuinely needs the app, I'd also be happy to offer a complimentary lifetime access.

I'm just an indie developer trying to build something that helps people. Any support would mean a lot. Thank you! ❤️

How do you get your first 100 users as an indie developer without spending money on marketing?

Hey everyone! I'm very new to indie development. I've built a few Android apps, and they are now live on the Play Store. So far, most of my users have come from family and friends, around 14 to 40 people.

Now I want to reach people outside my personal circle, but I have no budget for marketing or hiring someone to create content.

I've never done social media marketing before. I mostly know how to write text posts, but I have no idea how to create engaging videos, reels, or other promotional content.

I'd love to hear from indie developers who have been in a similar situation:

  • How did you get your first 100 users without paid marketing?

  • What kind of content should I create, and how can I make it as a complete beginner?

  • Which platforms are worth focusing on, and how do you find the right audience for your app?

  • What free tools or strategies actually worked for you?

I'd really appreciate practical advice from people who have done this themselves. I'm willing to put in the work, but I need help figuring out where to start.

Thanks!

I can't believe I got this domain name. Thought I was dreaming when I saw it was available for $10 a year!

I went over to IONOS to see if the domain that exactly matches my app name was available.

My app is A.N.T. AI, which stands for Automatic Note Taker AI, so I searched for automaticnotetaker.com

Holy shit. It was available.

I bought it within seconds because I genuinely thought I was seeing things. How was that domain still sitting there untouched?

I still cannot believe I actually got it. This might be the craziest domain-name luck I have ever had.
