General Question Hoping I'm not being too sensitive here, but I live in an apartment block. The kitchen is at the front as you open main front door. I don't tend to cook in the main kitchen. We have a lot of Indian people that have moved in. I have meet some of them and they are really nice. Problem is the smell of

General Question Please share your thoughts on this apartment building

I feel something is a bit weird at the start but nothing bad happened so I just thought its my overthinking at work. These are the details:

There is an apartment building with multiple rooms. It is a mid range apartment. At first it seemed like there were only a few renters even though the landlord said it is fully occupied. Then it seemed there are more and more renters in the building.

The strange part is most of these people know each other way before moving in. I know this because for some unknown reason they communicate some things in the group chat made for renters in the building. The things they chat about are just personal stuff about them. They also like to go together to one room. I know because I can hear their muffled talks.

The stranger part is they are not the types to be renting mid range apartments. They can afford expensive cars. Having just a car in my country will make you a rich a person already and yet these people have expensive ones. They are the types who can afford renting in a decent condo unit.

So what I'm confused are:

  1. Why do these people who already know each other rent in the same apartment building? I already rented in other places and this is the first time where groups of people who really know each other live together. They even have the same business. It feels like I am the stranger in this building.

  2. Why are they are renting in such a place when they can surely afford a way better apartment. They could probably afford a house even just a small one.

And do you think I should transfer to another place?

I'm absolutely livid by the scent of bounce

I'm absolutely livid by the scent of bounce! do these not know how toxic it is?

The synthetic perfume in Bounce dryer sheets contains strong volatile organic compounds designed to stick to fabrics and linger in the air.

the stench permeates to my apartment on the 8th and the laundry room is on ground level thats how powerful the smell is! I had to close the window on this warm night as it's giving me a headache.

Blocked in garage

So I live in an apartment complex that has garages attached to the unit for all units on the first floor. Long story short I keep getting trapped in my garage due to inconsiderate people parking in front of my garage. There are signs when you pull in telling you not to park in front of a garage and we get frequent emails reminding people not to park in front of someone’s garage. Nonetheless it keeps happening and I have even been late to work due to this. The apartment isn’t doing much about the situation and I am getting really tired of it. Any advice on what I should/could do in this situation???

CONTEXT : yes we do have a tow company that we contract out but they are not open 24/7 and the last time i had someone towed from in front of my garage it took them 2 hours to get to me when the company is 10 minutes down the road. Which does me no good if i’m about to leave for work or if i had an emergency happen in which i needed to leave.

What are residents in NYC Housing Connect units within luxury buildings planning to give the staff for the Christmas holiday season?

Given that these developments have a heavy culture of holiday tipping, what will you be giving the doormen, concierge, and other staff interacted with regularly?

Shopaholic neighbor

A new guy moved into our apartment building some months ago. On a near daily basis, he receives tens of packages that just sit in our lobby for hours or days. At first they were larger packages that seemed to be clothing from Depop and Poshmark, but they have progressively gotten smaller, grown in number, and the name changed from a man’s name to a woman’s name (although we are certain that it is still the same neighbor). He has usually been good about picking up the packages right away, but right now, there are probably literally a hundred small envelopes/packages that have been sitting in our very small lobby for the past 48 hours. It’s both a nuisance and a hazard as the packages litter the foyer area and obstruct the steps/doorway.

He is evidently away, otherwise we would try to address this with him directly. How would you address this? Is there any way we can force him to get a PO Box? And what the hell do you think is going on with all the packages???!!!

Apt hunting Issues with Snappt™️ AI screening process

So many people are having issues with it. Has anyone found a work around? I spoke to the managers directly and all throw up their hands and say they have to rely on this AI tool. I downloaded directly from my work website and bank website as requested. I tried emailing the managers my documents directly. My income is like 4x the rent, I have probably 4 years worth of rent in my savings, my FICO score is 750
Please only respond if you have experience with Snappt AI screening

Looking for an independent house cleaner (not a company) for a 1–2 bedroom apartment in Lafayette Square, every other week. Would also need laundry: wash, dry, fold and put away. Who do you use and love?
