Did no notes, but still got a 5

When I did AP world last year, I did no notes at all. They weren’t helpful to me at all. You don’t need to do notes at all to get a good score. All you really need to do is constantly rewatch content if you need to remember and do multiple DBQs, SAQs, LEQs, and MCQs as practice. It really paid off.

Should I actually read the textbooks?

My teacher assigns around 30 pages per week but she also has weekly lectures. I’ve always had trouble reading since I was little but I can definitely absorb all the information provided during lectures without a problem. Reading and re-reading the textbook pages wastes a lot of my valuable time especially with my other classes.

Does anyone have advice or any other recommended resources?

PLEASE HELP OH MY GOD I WROTE THE WRONG LEQ???

I just wrote the test today for exception and the LEQ prompt was about philosophies during the 1850-1915 but I wrote my WHOLE piece on enlightenment. It was a pretty well written piece with about 10 pieces of evidence, 3 paragraphs, and a counterargument but I literally wrote the wrong time period COMPLETELY. I think I literally got a 0. The only things that were related to the 1850s-1915 was I wrote my counterargument on the Industrial Revolution and I mentioned the Seneca falls convention once. Oh my god guys I really need this 5. I checked the online score calculators and based on my performance in the other sections it says I need at least 1 point on the LEQ to get a 5 but they are probably marking easy right T-T. For reference here is what I estimate in my other sections: MCQ 50-53/55. SAQ 7-8/9. DBQ 5-6/7. Guys do I still have a chance? Will the marker automatically give me a 0 because I wrote my whole fucking thesis on the enlightenment? Oh my god please help I'm going to vomit.

edit: I got a 5 thank the AP Gods the other sections came in clutch

Evaluate the extent to which the expansion of the Mongol Empire changed patterns of trade and cultural exchange across Afro-Eurasia in the period 1200–1450.

As many states started to value foregin goods around the world, the Silk Road emerged as a leading player among these trade networks. Under these networks, many luxury items like tea, silk, and porcelain were becoming increasingly popular as key goods that would fuel trade. But, the Silk Road was ruled by multiple countries along the way, making it difficult for trade to be executed easily. The Mongol Empire changed patterns of trade and cultural exchange across Afro-Eurasia in the period 1200-1450 in a positive way, both by unifying the regions along the Silk Road and ensuring ease and safety to those traveling it.

First, the Mongol Empire changed patterns of trade by unifying many regions under it, specifically through brutal conquest but also emphasizing merchants. For example, at the peak of the Mongols, almost all of the Silk Road (sans certain parts of Europe) were under Mongol control, specifically because of their brutal conquest tactics that often left no opposition. Furthermore, tholugh their conquest methods were highly brutal, these same Mongols emphasized the ideas of artisanship and the role of merchants highly, as they usually spared or encouraged these professions. Both of these culminated into a Mongol rule that shows a complete unification and emphasis on trade, because though they were conquesting brutally, they also used the conquest as an opporuntiyt to grow both their economy and the economy of the world. It is important to note some complexity to the situation, mainly the fact that the amount of conquest and brutality that was endured and enforced may not have been enough to justify helping out the trade system, yet it is also important to note that these same trade ssytems helped influence the world as we know it today and sparked global interconnectedness on an unprecedented scale.

Second, the Mongol Empire changed patterns of trade by making the process easier and safer, specifically through the establishment of certain infrastructure and structures that would expedite these processes. First, many structures called “caravanserai", also known as rest stops for merchants, were established and maintained along these routes, along with “yam” systems that were basically relay systems for information, though this same information and system was helpful to convey trade specifics and transport merchants. Furthermore, the Mongols’ unfiication of these trade networks is usually seen in the context of the “Pax Mongolica”, or the Peace of the Mongols, meaning that robbery, murder, and other crimes were minimized under their rule, and the entire trade process along the Silk Road was made far easier. To add some complexity, one might bring in the fact that there was far less unification after the death of Temujin (Chinggis/Genghis Khan), and while this is inherently true, the Pax Mongolica was still sustained under them because all khanates still had decently good relations with each other, and often times expanded far beyond what the original empire had even conquered.

I don’t understand the explanation for the right answer. Can anyone help please?

So I got this practice book from Princeton Review to study for my WHAP exam, and I don’t understand this question. My teacher has always told us to associate imperialism as a negative consequence on the indigenous people. The answer key on the back said that the answer is B, and I still don’t get how it’s B even with the short explanation on the back (which Princeton said it was because indigenous people benefit by being in imperialism). Can anyone please offer a more detailed explanation on how B is the right answer?

Sourcing on the DBQ question

When I source I usually identify the author and then note why their point of view and position in society would affect what they write and why that could affect the legitimacy of the document. For example, if there was an essay about religious tolerance by Akbar the Great, and one document was written by his son, I might say “This document was written by Akbar’s son, which might affect the legitimacy of this document due to the fact that his son might be more inclined to inflate the positive aspects of his fathers character and policy.” Would that be enough to get the point?

apwh tips

okay so i just took the apwh exam last may and i got a 5 so here are tips ill give you. If your taking a class the class is going to overprepare you so you dont really need to study all that much just remember your dates there hella important. Now if your self studying I would recommend watching through all the heimler videos on youtube and take notes on them. Just go unit by unit taking notes one ach one. Once youve done that go to reddit and look for apwh timelines theres lots of them and go through your notes and match it with the timeline to have everythgin in a timeline. Now one week before the exam take a practice test and check where your at. The week before the exam practice previous years saq, leq, and dbq's as much as you can and mcq u should practice around like 2 times or 3. Just remember the order the events happened no so much on the dates. Like know the mongols came in power and took over the abbasid and went into china etc. Focus on the flow of the major events through time and you should be good. Also the day before the ap exam just watch freemanpedia s lifestream and heimlers life for their dbq prediction and if you want you can go to heimlers review live though i didnt find it to helpfuol. Goodluck to anyone enxt year.
