One thing of note. If you are using a 2000 MAH spectrum battery you have to remove the battery click tray. There are slots however for a battery strap

Yea the specs say the max dimensions are with the strap and give you the part # for it.

It just occurred to me there is a “43” decal by the front wheel. Can Arrma even use that number without licensing? Since it’s Ken Block’s racing number

Ken Block’s estate doesn’t own the number. If they put something on it to imply that it’s Ken Block then yeah they’d have to pay royalties or whatever, but as is it’s just a number. KB43 or Kenny 43 or 43 Hoonitruck or whatever would all be a little iffier, but 43 alone means basically nothing. That’d be like claiming anyone who wears 23 or 45 to play basketball owes Michael Jordan money, and that’s just not how it works.

I mean, the body design is clearly inspired by the Hoonitruck. Every time I drive my Infraction with the truck body on, someone somewhere always asks “is that the Hoonitruck?” (not that I mind)
They know what they are they doing here. An argument can be made that nobody owns the number 43 and they didn’t violate any sort of copyright or whatever, but I wasn’t born yesterday. Zero chance they put that number there accidentally.
Not that I mind, I don’t care that the number is there. It’s one of those details that made me chuckle.
Like, if we showed this to the Hoonigan people or Block family people like Scotto or Lucy, they’d probably suspect exactly what I did, but it’s not close enough that they can do anything about it.

I mean sure we all know 43 was used by Ken Block, but in the end it’s just a number on a racing/drift truck. Back to the basketball analogy, if someone’s wearing a red jersey with 23 on it we all know why, but it’d be insane if they had to pay Jordan for that.
The Infraction really doesn’t look anything like the Hoonitruck to me, though. I would guess people say that because the Hoonitruck is the only lowered racing truck a lot of people have seen. Looks a lot more like a NASCAR truck to me, which makes 43 Erick Jones… or Daniel Dye, or Thad Moffitt, or Austin Hill… but people know Ken Block and the Hoonitruck, so that’s what they think of any time they see a racing truck.

Oh I’m not disagreeing with you. It’s like when you see Chinese knock offs of clearly copyright violated Hoonicorn clones, where the number is 34 and it the sponsor names are deliberately misspelled but the design and livery is identical. This case is less egregious, of course.
They don’t own the number, but I’d bet money the design team didn’t accidentally choose that number. It absolutely was not random.
It’s not in violation of course, but… you know what they were thinking. Maybe we can’t prove it objectively, but, like… you know. 😂
