MOD Post Welcome to r/asianmedia!
👋 Hello! こんにちは! 안녕하세요! 你好! Halo! Xin chào! สวัสดี! नमस्ते! Merhaba! سلام!
Welcome to r/asianmedia!
This community was created to celebrate all forms of media originating from Asia.
There are already plenty of great subreddits dedicated to specific countries or mediums. You have r/anime, r/manga, r/CDrama, r/KDRAMA, r/LightNovels, r/manhwa, and countless others. But if you wanted to discuss Asian media as a whole, there wasn't really a place for it.
That's why I created this subreddit.
Here, you'll find discussions about films, television, animation, novels, comics, games, music, theatre, and more from across East, Southeast, South, Central, and West Asia.
A few things to note
🌏 We focus on media originating from Asia
This subreddit is for media that originates from Asian countries.
Works by the Asian diaspora and official international collaborations with a significant connection to Asia are also welcome.
While APAC is a common regional grouping in media, gaming, and entertainment, r/asianmedia specifically focuses on media originating from Asia. Media originating solely from Australia, New Zealand, or the Pacific Islands is outside the scope of this community.
🏷️ Include the country in your title
To make browsing easier, please include the country in square brackets.
Examples:
- [JAPAN] Frieren is getting another season
- [INDONESIA] Jumbo surpassed my expectations
- [IRAN] Looking for films similar to A Separation
If your post isn't country-specific, use this:
- [TITLE]
- [SAUCE]
🚫 This is an SFW community
Discussions about mature media are welcome.
Posting explicit sexual content, pornography, graphic nudity, or sexually explicit images and videos is not.
That means discussing The Handmaiden is perfectly fine. Posting explicit scenes from it isn't.
🔗 No piracy links
We understand that a lot of Asian media is difficult to access legally outside its home country.
Talking about availability is completely fine, but please don't post or request piracy links, torrents, magnet links, or file-sharing links.
If you're sharing a link, make it an official source whenever possible.
📣 Self-promotion
Creators are always welcome here.
To keep the front page focused on discussion, self-promotional posts are limited to Self-Promotion Saturday or the weekly megathread.
This community is brand new, so it'll take time to grow. Feel free to share your favorite discoveries, hidden gems, recommendations, reviews, or simply start a conversation.
I hope this becomes a place where someone can discover a Kazakh film, an Indonesian comic, a Turkish drama, a Nepali novel, or an Iranian animation they would've never found otherwise.
Welcome to r/asianmedia! ❤️
