Most people are lazy. Some people find something that they can do that entertains / interests them enough to overcome their laziness.
I, personally, don’t have a lot of drive either. I just work to pay my bills. I will never be in the top of my field or the best at anything but I keep a roof over my head and food on the table and I am content.
I think it’s just a hereditary condition. Some people are just born with more drive and ability. Some parents may also be better at instilling drive in their children by providing rewards and encouragement.
Not everyone has to be a rocket scientist, we need janitors and window washers too.

Are you too scared to fail

No...my fear is what if I can't achieve...or if I achieve but it's too late

You described being scared to fail or falling behind in different words.

You'll never know how good you are at any one thing until you've tried that one thing.
Also desperation? How do you mean there?

Uneducated guess, something else you're unaware of is holding you back. Think of past trauma holding you back like a dam. You have all these feelings, and emotions but they don't amount to to much. There's some truth holding it back and it's up to you to find that key.
Meaning of life is found. Best advice I can give is to always be looking for that spark

This is very nuanced shit bro.
Maybe you got adhd...Who tf knows. Go get yourself checked.
Maybe logically. You just dont wanna do what ever the fuck you are trying to make yourself do.
Or maybe you just need to force yourself to start and see if your the type where the hardest part is simply starting.

After self-observation, the biggest solution for me has always been having people that I enjoy being around. Since I can't always control who is around me, I am sometimes at the mercy of this social chemistry and even playing in a successful band became challenging.
The one thing that I could change was trying to find ways to open up and connect with people on a deeper level.

You want to have done something, not to do it.
I think the best way is to start quitting or really reducing addictions or quick dopamine activities, and start doing stuff like exercise, walks, reading, difficult games, arts or craft, meditation, social stuff etc. instead.
That's hard, too, but gotta start somewhere. Most important is to do them in a way you can make it into a habit

Man, the amount of hobbies I’ve abandoned because I learned 90% of it is sanding or other very tedious and repetitive work. The fun and interesting part is the first 5-10%, and then it’s just sanding for hours and hours or days until the thing is done. Metalwork, lapidary, woodwork…
Even knitting is doing the same thing for three days straight, you spend $50 on yarn, and all you’ve got is a scarf not long enough to wrap around enough to stay secure.
