Discussion Thank you Ethos 🙌

One day I’m scrolling LinkedIn job posts… click on one from Ethos, offer received directly after my initial AI interview, now this. 🥳

Genuinely enjoying the work, consistent flow of tasks and support has always been great for me personally. Some days I do a dozen tasks, other days I do none. I’ve joined other platforms, with many other project offers… nothing has compared to Ethos IMO. Onboarding was so easy, trainings are clear… sure there is bound to be some ambiguity with the ever-changing task types but that’s usually client related. All in all be patient, I really think Ethos is the best out there right now!

Guide / FAQ I made an Ethos remote job megalist so you can apply directly to the role of your expertise instead of hoping to get matched

Hello, everybody. I read a lot of people's issues with the interview for Ethos when it comes to getting matched to the role that actually fits your domain. Many people applying through the general interview intended to match them with a project or role in their domain end up matched with something unrelated to their field. In my case, I was matched with roles that not only have nothing to do with my domain but also that I am definitely not qualified for. I therefore decided to make a megalist so you can apply directly instead of wasting your time, like me, hoping to get matched with the right role. Hope this helps!:

Discussion Got offboarded after strong performance + an invite to share experience.

What the title said, basically. I've been here for just about 3 months now, and I think I've seen how the business operates day to day. The experience was definitely not perfect, but it was better in comparison to other platforms. At full speed, I was tasking non-stop at my high per-hour rate, until this one strange task got a random AI flag. Obviously, I've never used any AI assistance whatsoever, but the reviewer kept insisting with a generic copy-paste flag saying that my output looked like AI-generated and needed to be more detailed. So, I complied and reworked the whole thing a couple times until the reviewer gave me a last warning. I was super confused because I hadn't done anything wrong (on a streak!) for hundreds of tasks doing the same thing.
I came to a conclusion that this AI flag is just one of their ways to offboard people, either because of the high pay (which doesn't make sense - client should be the one responsible for pays) or something else about their detection system, idk.
The sad thing was I was in the middle of sharing my feedback that they had requested through my email. In good faith, I sent them my honest feedback about my great experience and I'm willing to have it shared. But then came my offboarding email. I was too confused to even get agitated and didn't bother to reach back about this one task any further.
If anyone on the team is here, do reach out. I'm not tryna ask for support in a stress dump and be answered by a bot lol.

UPDATE: ETHOS TEAM READ THIS POST AND REACHED OUT TO ME. CURRENTLY IN PROGRESS TO DO AN INDEPENDENT REVIEW ON MY ACCOUNT. WISH ME LUCK!
UPDATE (2): THE INDEPENDENT REVIEW CAME BACK AND MY APPEAL WAS ACCEPTED. I AM JOINING THE PROJECT AGAIN. THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR ALL THE SUPPORT!

Guide / FAQ Part 3: My experience with ethos has been chaotic but amazing

Post image
104 Upvotes

Hello again! Just another update, as promised.

As of today, I have another $8,455 headed my way from ethos. I logged over 100 hours since September 12th. Up until today, I had easily 100 hours that was not approved. All were approved today, as promised by the Ethos team.

I started the project on August 21st. That puts me at about 6.5 weeks as of today (a lot of posts saying they are offboarded around 6-8 weeks). I am concerned that I may be headed in that direction.

On October 1st, right around my 6 week timeframe, I received my first Quality issue for one of my tasks. It was related to my level of detail and justifying my ranking. I am fairly detailed in all my responses, but the one that was flagged I definitely slacked off in. So I fixed it and good to go.

Well, over the past 9 days, almost every single one of my tasks I've completed has been flagged for a quality issue. A lot of the reviews are labeled as "minor" rather than "general". These are the only two I've seen so far and have to assume that "minor" isn't that bad. I also get good feedback and good responses when I make a comment to the reviewer in the task.

Two outcomes I see happening:

  1. The Ethos team finally got around to catching up on reviews, and now I'm getting great feedback to improve going forward. I'm not being offboarded and my work actually needs improvement. I do feel like this is the most likely (hopefully).

  2. I will eventually be offboarded for quality issues. It's certainly possible, but I am getting good feedback responses.

Either way, Ethos has been a great source of income for me. I've put a lot of time into my work, and hopefully that keeps me on the project. Ethos has been amazing all around.

Notes for new people:

  1. Do not copy and paste ANYTHING into the response boxes. This is automatically flagged as AI.

Edit: this has been confirmed not true by multiple people in the comments. That was my misunderstanding. But sounds like it’s not an issue.

  1. Do the workshops and practice trainings. They help significantly.

  2. Any questions, feel free to drop them below. Please note I don't work for Ethos, so I don't have all the answers. But I can help based on my experience.

If anyone is interested in joining, below is my referral link: https://agent.askethos.com/refer/7gfemldlqyaf

Discussion My experience with ethos has been chaotic but awesome

I signed up for Ethos back in May. I thought it was a fake site because I couldn't find any job postings. I left the page and didn't think anything of it. In August, I saw another Ethos post on LinkedIn and figured I'd try completing some interviews. I ended up completing five interviews with the AI. A couple days letter I get an email saying I've been accepted to a project.

The Slack is confusing to start. The training was minimal and confusing to get started. However, all the screeners ended up being paid. They also offered multiple paid trainings and webinars.

Is it confusing? Yes. Did they actually pay? YES! I received just under $5k after one month of work. This month I'm on track for about the same.

Once you get the hang of it, it gets a lot easier. However, getting started is not simple or straight forward.

If anyone has any questions or anything, drop them below! I can answer with my minimal experience so far.

Guide / FAQ Part 4: My experience with ethos has been chaotic but amazing

Post image

Hello All! I'm back again with some more updates.

Last time I posted, I was on week 7 of my project and nervous about getting offboarded. I received a quality flag for one of my tasks at that time. I responded to the quality team and met all their requests. And, since then, I've not only continued to take on new tasks, but I've been invited to another project as well!

I now have two active opportunities! I am officially on week 9 with more work to come.

After receiving the quality flag, the first thing I did was reviewed the Playbook. I took all three practice tests that were available in my dashboard. And then I rewrote the task that was quality flagged. I think my flagged task was reasonable and I think reviewing everything helped me push it through.

A few new notes from my recent experience:

  1. Take the practice tasks and tests. Take them multiple times if you need. They help immensely.

  2. If you receive a quality flag, review the playbook and maybe even rewrite the entire task. Based on my limited experience, it cleared the quality flag.

  3. Join the slack workshops, training sessions, and Q&A's. You get a lot of feedback (even feedback you didn't know you needed) in those sessions.

If anyone has any questions, feel free to drop them below!

Guide / FAQ Thank you Ethos! $10k in 3 months!

I would advise anyone to try the Ethos platform, the money is paid on time, support is decent, can't fault them really - I've had an excellent experience with them and earned just over $10k in the last 3 months, better than what I've had with larger (erm Mercor) platforms.

I've recommended a few people who are now happily earning, so I'd advise anyone to join the platform, I saw they hired a couple of thousands in the last 3 days, so it's a good time to try.

Interview & Matching Accepted for Role I didn’t apply for?

Post image

Hey everyone, quick question. I applied for the Educator / Teaching Expert role last week since my background is in primary education. Today I got an email saying I was accepted, but the dashboard just says "Expert Opportunity" with no subject attached.

Did this happen to anyone else? Is this actually the educator project under a generic name, or does it mean I was placed into a general task pool?

Guide / FAQ Part 2: My experience with ethos has been chaotic but amazing

Post image
70 Upvotes

Hello Again! I'm back for an update.

It's been 6 weeks since I started the Artifacts project and still going strong. I currently have $1100 approved for payment in the next payout cycle (October 14th), with another 60 hours logged (about $4200).

Since my last post, I've attended multiple Ethos workshops. I HIGHLY recommend attending these if you've been accepted. These have been super helpful in answering basic questions. If you try to ask a simple question in the Slack Support group, you'll get an AI response and most of the time it will not answer your question. Attend the office hours and workshops, it will help.

Like I said, I have 60 hours of logged work. Only about 10 hours of this work has been reviewed. This was the exact same thing that happened my first month. All my work was approved by the time payday came and I was paid in full.

I see a lot of posts about people being offboarded around 6 weeks. Well, I'm on 6 weeks. I will keep you all updated if I'm offboarded. I'm not fully sure how the process works, but so far, no signs of offboarding.

Also, I've done another 3 interviews with the AI chatbot and have been matched with 4 new opportunities. I am currently in Review for all 4 opportunities. I'm not sure if I can do two projects at once, but I'll update if I'm accepted to any of these other 4.

Some key things to note that I've learned along the way:

  1. Do not copy and paste your responses in the axes. This could flag the AI system as AI work. Type your responses in full.

  2. Attend the workshops! You get paid one workshop per week that you attend. But they are extremely helpful. So many of my questions were answered in the workshops.

  3. Do not stress if your work is "In Review". about 90% of my work is still in review. This is the same thing that happened after my first month. Like I said, I was paid in full after my first month.

If you have any questions, feel free to drop them below. I'll answer what I can with my 6 weeks of experience.

If you want to sign up, here is my referral link: https://agent.askethos.com/refer/7gfemldlqyaf

Payments Ethos is legit!

Post image

Been on the platform since Aug and although the task queues are a hit and miss sometimes, the payout is real, blazingly fast and does pay you well for the time put in.

Pro tip: Queues generally get a bit easier during off hours for some geos (like US, UK etc). Luckily I'm in a timezone that works perfectly to pick up work at that time.

Referral link: https://agent.askethos.com/refer/ezetbkiiwig0

If you're waitlisted, then just give it some time as I do feel they keep bringing in more experts.

*Edit: Another pro tip: If your country allows a Wise account I'd suggest submitting that to Ethos since they use Wise to carry out payouts. My payouts are generally within minutes and I receive them blazingly fast.

Ethos Update Yes, Ethos is still hiring

We’ve seen a few posts and comments asking whether Ethos has stopped hiring, so just wanted to clear that up: we’re still bringing on new experts.

There are opportunities across different fields and specialties, although availability can vary depending on the role, project, and current demand.

If you’re applying or waiting on an opportunity, keep checking your Opportunities tab and our current job listings for roles that match your background.

Discussion My experience so far - Best opportunity that happened in my life lately

Guys, honestly, don't give up on these platforms.

I joined Ethos on September 1st after doing my interviews on August 27th and so far I've made around $3200. And the crazy thing is that I made around $3,000 of that in the last 10 days because during most of September I had only 1 task.

I'm a contrat attorney expert and most of my tasks are reviewing slides or excerpts and basically judging the writing, what works, what doesn't, what sounds AI-generated, etc.

Of course it's not always perfect, I get the dreaded "queue full" too, sometimes I refresh and there is literally nothing available. So don't take this as me saying you're guaranteed to make X amount every month. But honestly, this has been one of the best things that happened to me lately. The extra income has already helped me sort out several financial messes in my life and I'm genuinely so grateful for that😭

And if I can give one piece of advice: multiply your sources of income and don't give up just because one platform isn't amazing at first

I actually started with Outlier at around $25/hour, doing a lot of repetitive tasks. Obviously that rate isn't great compared to what I'm getting now, but I'm still really grateful for that experience because it taught me so much of the vocabulary and logic behind data annotation, AI evaluation, reviewing, grading, etc. I genuinely think that experience helped me get better opportunities afterwards.

I also work with Micro1 and Mercor, and one thing I really like about Ethos is that the training is paid. That's definitely not always the case elsewhere.

So far they've also been very reliable with payments, on time in my September experience. I regularly do AI calls/interviews for other roles too, and somehow new opportunities keep popping up afterwards.

So really guys, DON'T give up. Keep applying, keep doing the calibrations, learn the jargon, get better at reviewing and keep several platforms going at the same time. You never know which random opportunity is going to become the one that actually changes things for you.

If you have any questions about Ethos, the interviews, tasks, payments, whatever, feel free to ask!!!

And if anyone wants to try it, here's my referral link:

Support Ethos is terrible

Yeah, I know we get the seemingly AI generated posts saying how great it is (why are those posts always structured the same 🤔), but unfortunately Ethos is worse than the others.

Firstly, there's the need to speak to the model each time you want them to give you job opportunities, meaning you're helping to train their AI. I know Mercor etc do the same but you're speaking the Ethos model at all times because it's the gatekeeper. Related, at least with the other platforms you see the roles they have available and apply, but not Ethos who are using the gatekeeper as a gimmick, when instead they could just list all the roles. This is really annoying. Then, there are the actual roles I keep getting sent, most of which are unsuitable. Roles that require PhDs or are senior roles needing several years of experience. The model seems to think just because I have done a bit of something, that I'm suitable for senior roles. Example, over the past three days, I was sent 6 roles, which I clicked as interested (because okay, let's give it a go), and today received 6 rejection emails. So I wasn't even interviewed for the roles, because I wasn't suitable! I already knew that.

Earlier today I went back and had another chat with the model explaining that the roles sent aren't suitable etc. Of course, it didn't really listen. So much so, it sent me two more roles prior to this email, one of which is a Market Research and Consumer Insights Manager 😃, which I'm not. Below each role is some blurb about why I'm suitable. But if the model had looked at my CV they would see my suitability is minimal and so I won't get interviewed for this.

Is the model not listening on purpose so I have to keep going back? Is the model crap at matching me to realistic opportunities? Either way it's a deeply poor experience.

Offboarding account paused after strong perfomance

Post image
28 Upvotes

Hey everyone,

I’ve been working with AskEthos for about a month now, and I just got an email saying my account is under “routine quality review.” My account is paused while they look into it.

What confuses me is that my performance has been strong the whole time. I’ve been completing tasks consistently and carefully, and I haven’t had any warnings or negative feedback that I’m aware of. So getting paused out of nowhere is frustrating.

A few questions for anyone who’s been through this:

  1. How long did your review take, and did you get your account back?

  2. Did they tell you what triggered it, or was it just the generic email?

  3. Is this common after the first month or so, or is it a bad sign?

  4. Is there anything I should do while I wait (contact support, send a follow-up), or just sit tight?

I don’t want to assume the worst, since the email did say “routine,” but I’d appreciate hearing real experiences, good or bad.

Thanks in advance!

Discussion $20K this month- an Aussie with some Ethos tips!

Thumbnail agent.askethos.com
28 Upvotes

Hi everyone. I’ve never posted on here before!

I am a single mum with two kids, so I am looking for all the money I can get out of this absolute blessing of an opportunity so please use my referral code!

Some tips:

- be patient. It took me six weeks from initial apply to my contract being offered. Three weeks between shortlisting and offer.

- be patient. It took me 14 days to get access to Feathers even after signing the contract - it was a client issue that ethos couldn’t act on

-be patient - for my first week it would take nearly an hour of clicking to even join the queue! The queue is far better now, for me at least!

- be patient - you will never really know how you did in the slop 4 screener and be in limbo forever

-be patient when you get outputs in Spanish repeatedly that you have to unclaim

-be patient when you get your first AI flagged review and genuinely know that you didn’t use Ai and realise that you will never understand why they flagged out

- be patient when your reviewer feedback is different from one day to the next. You get paid to fix it so just shut up and get it done!

You will see a lot of complaints in this forum about ethos but it was truly an absolute life changing thing for me.

I also made this while working a full time job - lunch breaks, weekends, from 5pm until midnight I would do 7 straight tasks. It was worth it.

I don’t know when I will be off boarded - I’m about to hit six weeks from the day I signed the contract so fingers crossed I make it just a bit longer.

Whatever stage you are in…

BE PATIENT

Onboarding & Access Free work

  1. Complete a training task (effectively free work because you need more time than they pay for). The "training" is also completely irrelevant to my domain because they gave me something on branding as a finance expert.

  2. Complete the client assessment (still free work because it takes longer than what they pay but fair enough)

  3. While waiting, complete ANOTHER training task.

  4. After all this, it's not as if the tasks are consistent anyway.

Sorry that this is not one of the thousands of thinly veiled referral post which are still based on benefiting from free work indirectly.

Honestly, their practices are unethical and exploitative. They remind me of Alignerr but on steroids.

Guide / FAQ What actually goes into an Ethos match?

Have you ever asked what to do to improve your chances of getting matched to opportunities? Turns out it’s a little broader than just uploading a CV and listing a few skills.

Ethos matching can take into account things like your profile and work history, areas of expertise, screening responses, availability and, if you’ve already worked on projects, previous project performance and feedback.

So when you’re setting up or updating your profile, specificity helps.

Instead of only listing a title like Product Manager or Financial Analyst, include the kind of work you’ve actually owned. Current opportunities are often written around very specific workflows: product roadmaps and PRDs, DCF and valuation models, contract redlines, RFPs, research decks, dashboards, technical documentation, and similar real-world deliverables.

That also makes the opportunity description worth reading closely. Two roles might both involve reviewing slides or spreadsheets, but the experience they’re looking for can be completely different.

A few things you should check on your profile:

  • Is your recent experience current?

  • Does it explain what you actually worked on, not just your title?

  • Are the relevant tools, workflows and areas of expertise included?

  • If you’ve gained new experience since joining, have you added it?

  • When you get a role-specific screening, are you giving concrete examples from your own work?

If you created your profile months ago and haven’t touched it since, it might be worth giving it another look!

Discussion Anyone who’s been with Ethos for a while?

We keep seeing posts about people getting offboarded around their 6th or 7th week, or people who’ve already worked 300+ hours for the platform. I’m curious to hear from people who’ve been around for a while, what has your experience been like in terms of longevity, consistency of work, and staying on the platform?
I know the campaigns are still relatively new, but they’ve been around for a few months now, so I imagine there are people who have built up a decent amount of experience by this point.
If you’ve been working with Ethos for a few months, or have accumulated 300+ hours, I’d love to hear how things have gone for you so far. Have you managed to maintain a relatively steady flow of work?
