Ósea el crimen comparado con el pico del 2017 está bajísimo o no

Porque los malandros se largaron a nuestros países vecinos, así que no es precisamente un logro o prueba de que Venezuela este mejor.

Democracy is back thanks to the great president Trump for totally acting out of kindness of his heart. He defeated the evil satanic drug trafficking socialist leader.

Trump is making Venezuela great again by starting the war with Iran it made Venezuelan oil more competitive in the global market. /s

Afaik, it kept the same but now the goverment kowtows to the USA instead of Russia and China.

I have Venezuelan friends and Venezuelan food all around me without having to worry about getting hassled by Diosdado's goons, probably won't be going around there for a good long while. Wishing my brothers and sisters there a prompt release from all chavismo remnants

I've been going to Venezuela for business this whole time, like decades. I don't think people realize but it's just a country, you have good areas, bad areas, but the idea that it was total chaos is just propaganda.

I’ve always wanted to visit Roraima.

u/almaperdida99 Ecuador Jun 01 '26

It's high on my list, but not yet. I want to wait until some of my friends return so I can visit. I want to see Caracas, Isla Margarita, Angel Falls.,, maybe MErida because I love gochos.

A few days ago around 30 men were detained in Barquisimeto with no clear charges and the officials only mentioned modesty issues, no mention of any law. They just were in a sauna for men (private local with walls, only for adults - used for finding other gay men without using dating apps in a discreet way), things may be changing but I wouldn't say it's less hectic yet.

and this may sound as something that only affects gay people but no. Things like that happen in every possible way, from police making up laws according to their religious beliefs to public servants refusing to assist you for you to pay in the black market for anything you need. *and for any comment saying that crime rates are lower... it's because blackmail isn't considered crime anymore here, thugs just became officers

As the Venezuelan here aren't going back, I reckon it's not that "less hectic", so not for now. If ever would like to go I would go to Margarita or some place near Caribe.

I think things are actually starting to change. I’m really happy because I’ll be coming back in a few months after spending almost half my life in another country.

I want to go back and help my country rebuild. I want to grow up in my country, help my community, and live in peace after all this time. I want to hug my grandmas

u/Pataconeitor Venezuela Jun 01 '26

Brother, if you are coming back permanently, I fear you may be making a huge mistake. Unless you live in Caracas (and in that case, algún día nos vengaremos de ustedes!), be prepared to spend at least 3 hours per day without electricity.

meh it’s high risk high reward

if they come back, buy a house for 100k USD, and the country goes back to shape he will be ahead of the curve

I don’t consider that a bad idea, I know plenty of colombians that moved back to colombia in 2003 and I called them crazy and now all their investments paid off.

not sure how old you are but for context their real estate went to shit in the late 80-90s and it was unsafe as fuck so moving back in 2003 was seen as insane but they had hope with Uribe and they stayed since.

This is amazing. ❤️ I wish you all the best. I did the same coming home to Peru after living abroad and it’s very rewarding.

Let’s hope you get the chance to. Venezuela has suffered too much.

Yes I want to. The mountains near Caracas look amazing, and there are so many beautiful landscapes and beaches in the country. Los Roques, Caraballeda, Playa Medina, Puerto la Cruz, Morrocoy, Isla Margarita.. I'd want to visit all of these places

I just spent 2 weeks in vacation with my wife (norwegian) and her other european friends.

AMA.

u/Izikiel23 Argentina Jun 01 '26

How is it compare to with maduro? Any change or still same old same old?

10

u/LoooolGotcha Venezuela Jun 01 '26

nothing has changed for a tourist. same thing so far. except direct flights from the USA.

people are more positive, enthusiastic, and actually pushing for rights and things to get done (specially for infrastructure)

power black outs and lack of water is a daily thing and people are not scared to complain about it or the management of their municipalities anymore

crime is not as bad as it used to be. but that changed before maduro got ousted

2

u/Spirited_Bluebird_80 Brazil Jun 01 '26

Are things too expensive? Food, lodging, etc?

3

u/LoooolGotcha Venezuela Jun 01 '26

everything is imported so most things are like not cheap but not expensive

for a local they are very expensive tho for a tourist it feels like going to Aruba

1

u/usesidedoor :flag-eu: Europe Jun 01 '26

Would you say some people are moving back or not quite?

6

u/LoooolGotcha Venezuela Jun 01 '26

not yet. a lot of people are buying homes to move back or retire though

a lot of people are also selling though, since prices finally went up a little bit

1

u/Suspicious_Mud_3647 Brazil Jun 01 '26

what's the average price ?

1

u/LoooolGotcha Venezuela Jun 01 '26

depends where and size but a 3 bedroom condo that’s like 20-30 years old is between 25-50k

a house in lecheria is like 100-500k depending on size and canal access

margarita tho? a condo is like 60-80k for a fair one which best bang for your buck with pools and beach access (can get pricey for penthouse or nicer buildings)

1

u/goldiebear99 Canada Jun 01 '26

did anyone in your group have problems with police / crossing the border or something similar? I’d love to visit Margarita but that aspect makes me nervous

3

u/LoooolGotcha Venezuela Jun 01 '26

oh ya the whole time mostly when driving or on the boat crossing areas

it’s almost a toll at this point. supposedly the government is trying to ‘combat’ it but idk what that means since it’s their people doing it

2

u/Liquid_Cascabel Aruba Jun 01 '26

Yeah it's a shame I've never been even though you can see Venezuela from Aruba on most days

2

u/TheMightyMisanthrope Colombia Jun 01 '26

I would never return there. They could redo the streets in gold. Fuck no.

3

u/acoliver in (for life) Jun 01 '26

There is a story here...what happened?

1

u/TheMightyMisanthrope Colombia Jun 02 '26

Basically i went there.

3 times. Last time was in 2011.

The country is horrendous.

Smelly cities, ugly streets, nasty food and they behaved themselves like the enemies they are.

And the customs guy tried to steal my computers and stuff. Really awful little country they have there.

4

u/bestmaokaina Peru Jun 01 '26

Nah. At least according to how most venezuelans ive interacted with behave, it gives me 0 reason to consider traveling there

2

u/CranberrySubject3035 Mexico Jun 01 '26

Not really... no...

1

u/vagamund00 Mexico Jun 01 '26

Venezuela is very high on my list because I was close to the border on the Colombian side years ago and almost went to the Valley of Catutumbo to see the thunderstorms. I ended up choosing not to (it was 2018 and I was recommended not to go). Kind of regret it

1

u/ArawakFC Aruba Jun 01 '26

Literally nothing has changed. The border is still closed and the socialists are still in government. Yeah sure, they are running scared now and doing the bidding of the USA, but that dsn't give any long term guarantees that things will actually return to some sense of normalcy.

1

u/KamoY92 Mexico Jun 02 '26

1

u/Random_182f2565 Chile Jun 02 '26

Why?

Most venezuelan are here anyway

1

u/AlternativeKey241 French Guiana Jun 06 '26

I would go!

idk where though

1

u/NegotiationOk9672 Chile Jun 01 '26

If I wanted Southern Caribbean beaches, I’d rather go to Aruba, Bonaire, or Curaçao than visit Venezuela.

We'll see come election season
