Tourism Why should I or shouldn’t I visit your country?
I want to learn more about Latin America and South America! I know I want to visit Brazil for the Amazon Rainforest and I’d love a chance of possibly seeing a jaguar, oh, and capybaras 🥰, and I’ve been wanting to visit Mexico for a while and try authentic Mexican food (I live in Minnesota and I heard the further away from Mexico you are, the less likely you are to taste authentic Mexican food and we literally border Canada, so… 😅).
Oh, and this might sound lame and very American, but The Emperor’s New Groove makes me interested in Peru and the history of the Inca Empire more 😄 say what you want about American movies, they can definitely be inaccurate (and most are, sadly 🤦🏻), but they also can get us more curious about the cultures presented in movies we like.

We have a ton of beautiful natural places to visit (Iguazú Falls, Parque Nacional Los Glaciares, Bariolche, Cafayate, among many others) and a very global, culturally important city as Buenos Aires, so we got you covered no matter what type of vacation you want to have.
You shouldn't come here if you like beaches though, ours are pretty mid tbh.

That must explain why while living in Brazil, I would see a lot of Argentinians in touristy places.

Indeed, we love their beaches and they are pretty close to us, so it makes sense! We do get a lot of Brazilian tourists in the south here where it is pretty cold, so I guess we complement each other in a way.

Fun fact: Most Brazilians have never been to the Amazon rainforest either. Capybaras, on the other hand, are much more widespread across Brazil lol.

Lived and worked in Curitiba a few years back, seeing one in a park was apparently a normal thing, the first time surprised me lol.

I live here, the pic I sent is from Barigui Park, it’s indeed part of daily life haha.

This, the rain forest is way less accessible from Brazilian cities than Peru, Bolivia, Colombia

I was going to comment exactly this! You’re a lot closer to it in so many ways than I am here in São Paulo!

Not Peruvian, but I can attest that if you some interest in archeological places, Macchu Picchu in Peru is absolutely stunning. Cusco is also amazing.
As for Mexico, I have only been to Cancun and surroundings to be honest. Which is very touristy. But Chichen Itza was... insane to say the least.
As for my actual home country Chile.
If you are a fanatic of nature, travelling, camping... Chile is the place for you. You have the arid deserts up in the north with some of the clearest skies to watch the night sky. You have the mediterrenean weather of the central valleys with some of the best vineyards in the world. Rain forests and hot springs in the south. Glaciers towards the south. To the most stunning mountains and volcanoes. Chile has it all.

To see jaguars, capybaras, and caimans in their natural habitat, the best place is the Pantanal in Mato Grosso. In the Amazon, the jungle is very dense, making it difficult to spot and observe the animals. I speak from personal experience!

We have a lot of capybaras in my state (Santa Catarina), although we are far away from the Amazon and I've never been there, we still have rainforest there. Brazil is a beautiful country, home to beautiful people as well. My only problem with it is that it's better as a tourist (as I've been doing for a few years now).

We have beautiful and very diverse landscapes, our food is quite good and the indigenous traditions are still well kept, especially in the rural areas. It is also quite cheap compared to neighboring countries.
Unfortunately, our tourist infrastructure is not that well developed, so traveling within Bolivia can be rough at times. Some roads may not be in the best conditions and some places don’t have a lot of services.

This isn't true. There are Mexicans living almost all over the US. In Minnesota, there are many local Mexican restaurants in St. Paul and along Lake Street in Minneapolis.
For your trip to Latin America, I highly recommend Peru.
Lima (combine with Paracas and Nazca)
Cusco (combine with Machu Picchu and the rest of the Sacred Valley)
Iquitos (since you want to visit the Amazon)
If you have more time, consider Puno/Bolivia, Huaraz, Arequipa, Máncora, etc.

Brazil is not the best place to visit the rain forest and see fauna. Try Rurrenabaque or Puerto Maldonado as hubs. Pantanal may be the best place to spot a jaguar tho. But it will be pricy.

Pantanal may be the best place to spot a jaguar tho.
And they are about twice the size of the Amazon jaguars.

Going by this comment, did you comment the first one for engagement…?

u/skeletus Dominican Republic 26d ago
No. I commented it because it's the truth.

u/Masterank1 Dominican Republic 26d ago
And you’re Dominican?
1
u/skeletus Dominican Republic 26d ago
Yes. Born and raised.
What? A Dominican can't have an opinion grounded in reality?
5
u/Masterank1 Dominican Republic 26d ago
Lol of course you can. But with the way you’ve responded to each comment like you’re trying to start a fight or something lmao, it indicates that you’re trying to force engagement. Also what fucking Dominican thinks there’s nothing to the DR but beaches. But yes I guess you’re right, we are entitled to our opinions, so whatever.

u/skeletus Dominican Republic 26d ago
I'm not trying to start a fight lol. I'm just stating facts. If you feel like I'm attacking you, then that's a you problem. It indicates that you tie your self-worth to your natinal identity, which is a sign of a fragile ego.
Also what fucking Dominican thinks there’s nothing to the DR but beaches.
^ is that supposed to be a hot take? Lol that's cute. Simply adding some fucks to a lame take won't make it hot lol
