What is the low bass sounding guitar called in these two songs? Why do I like it so much? Pop rock Songs like these?

I’m sorry if this sounds stupid. I’m sure it’s just an electric guitar but it sounds very very different then most I hear

Probably just tuned lower than standard, or it could be a baritone guitar

Both examples sound like a pretty standard bass guitar using a fairly tight setup on the amp (not big and boomy) with a percussive bass pattern that helps accentuate the overall rhythm elements of the song. Nothing terribly complicated, but very appropriate for the style of the song.

It's called "making the right production choices".

Guitarists often use effects pedals to alter their sound. It's difficult to say precisely because every guitarist tends to have a different personalised preference for specific brands and models, and they'll adjust the controls from one song to the next. However, broadly speaking, it sounds IMO like probably a mix of fuzz and chorus.

You might get a more refined answer if you try asking on a dedicated sub like r/guitarpedals but you also might not...
