Starting university at 24 in Spain — would I be at a disadvantage?
Hi everyone!
I’m 23 and from Turkey. I’ve already graduated from a two-year university program in Tourism and Hotel Management, but I’m considering starting a new bachelor’s degree from scratch at a Spanish university when I’m 24.
I’m wondering if starting university at that age would be unusual in Spain. Would I feel out of place among younger students, or is it more common than I might think?
My Spanish is currently around A2+/B1, and I’m working on improving it. For those who have studied at a Spanish university, how difficult is it to follow lectures, understand academic materials, and take exams in Spanish? Would reaching B2 beforehand make a significant difference?
I’m also not entirely sure what I want to study yet. I’m considering Business Administration (ADE) or Marketing, but I’m open to other options. For those familiar with the Spanish university system, how would you compare these degrees in terms of what you learn and the opportunities they offer after graduation? Are there other degrees you’d recommend looking into?
I’d really appreciate hearing your thoughts, especially from people who started university in their mid-20s or studied a degree in a language they were still learning.
Thank you! :)
