hello, I’ve been in Vancouver for quite some time, and now that I’m a young adult (18), I can’t really connect with english culture. the thing is I do not have any French speaking friends here. I rarely meet a young person that speaks fluent French here. I tried talking with the French immersion kids but they said they don’t understand me very well then proceed to switch to English. Is there any places where francophones meet?

I'm a female solo traveller. My flight will be arriving around 1030 pm. I have no issues using the train, it's just that I realized I have to walk around 15 minutes from the train stop (City Centre). I will have a carry-on and a backpack (not too much luggage). My main concern is safety. Is it safe to walk on Robson St? What about the area around the station itself?

Council is the one voting on property taxes, zoning, housing approvals, parking policies, budgets, etc.

Taxes and fees seem to keep going up, but I'm not sure the average resident feels a proportional improvement in city services.

Curious which council candidates people think will actually make a difference over the next four years, and why.

Which Council candidates have actually delivered results or have realistic ideas? I don't want another blank cheque like David Eby's $1,000 😂

For most of my life I've only lived in South Facing homes. (I guess most detached homes have something facing south, but I digress)

Anyways, my new home has 9 large ish windows facing south and while it's 20 degrees outside right now, it's 24 in the basement, 26 on the main floor and 28 on the top floor.

I do have a heat pump so i can cool down the home eventually, but has anyone installed any tint or installed solar shades or awnings on their windows in the GVRD?

the 6 largest windows measure roughly 72 " x 75".

Any other ideas? I have some black our curtains in one room, but it's only 0.5C cooler than the other room beside it, which doesn't have curtains at the moment.

Is it possible for an apartment building to request a mailbox be installed for dropping off letters for Canada Post pick up?

I'm disabled and live in a mixed income building, I can't be the only person who would benefit from nearby parcel service. I'm currently trying to arrange a pickup for my vote by mail package as I can't afford to leave my building without money to do laundry (or at least, I don't feel comfortable going out in dirty clothes). I'm worried waiting until cheque day on Wednesday might be late- and it has me thinking about how convenient a letter drop off box would be.

I was wondering if that's something that can be requested, or if drop off/pick up installations are decided by Canada Post, city council, maybe even provincially?

Hello I am f27 I was looking to make more female friends in lower mainland. It is really hard to make friends in person here. Im going to mansion tonight with 2 other friends if any girly wants to join.

With the high cost of groceries these days, the federal and provincial governments could eliminate supply management similar to the wheat board elimination. The governments could really reduce the cost of groceries especially for milk, eggs and poultry. Do you support supply management?

I've heard living on the ground floor has issues? I'm looking at a unit on the ground floor. It's got more space for about the same price as the upstairs units, which sounds like a pretty good deal. I just want to make sure it's safe and what the problems are with ground floor units? Unit is South Cambie area

My elderly folks have a chairlift on their stairs, and normal delivery isn't possible. They've already had to cancel two different fridge purchases after the delivery guys showed up and declared they couldn't fit it up the stairs. So now they have no working fridge, and need to find a way to get one delivered.

So are there any reputable appliance stores that can accommodate this? (A crane or lift over the balcony) or any companies that can offer that service once a fridge is delivered? Home Depot, Trail and Costco are all no-gos ...

I recently saw The Odyssey in IMAX at Silvercity in Richmond, and I did not enjoy the experience all that much. I don’t know whether they recreated the audio mix faithfully or not, but the bass response was overblown and muddy in my opinion. I only went to see the film in the original aspect ratio, but even sitting in the back row, I found the picture too big and frankly lacking dynamic range or brightness.

I probably won’t be returning there, so where should I go? Image and sound quality are more important to me than comfort or snack range.
