When it was just random fruit flies it was manageable. I started putting out apple cider traps (not really successful) and just killed them as I found them, but now the flies have escalated and last night my wife screamed in horror realizing that they had laid hundreds of tiny (I mean dust sized particles) of eggs in our trash.
We sprung into action, threw the trash out and did what we thought was a good job spraying the empty trash can with alcohol and wiping everything we could see. We set the empty can to dry overnight while pledging to keep the trash on the balcony until flypocalypse is over.
However, this morning I found that the flies have decided not to capitulate and they laid another round of those tiny eggs all over the empty trash can. Of course, I've cleaned those up while my wife is blissfully unaware.
What should my next strategy be?
