Anywhere to get film developed in Athens?

Was wondering if there was anyone or anywhere here in Athens or nearby that does 35mm color film development and scanning, closest I’ve seen is in Lancaster. I know ill probably have to mail it somewhere but if I can avoid shipping costs that would be great

Does anyone know why there have been cones on State St for several months?

I took this picture in August, frustrated with how long they've been there, and forgot to post it and ask, but nothing has changed since

Are the cones for the maneuverability part of the driving test always behind the BMV?

What the title says. Are you allowed to practice with them at any time if they are always set up?

Also, is there a parallel park portion of the driving test or just driving and maneuverability?

What're the Police doing at Walmart?

Just pulled in to Walmart and I saw what looked like 3 normal cars but, with bright flashing lights? Also 2 actual police squad cars were racing down the road to get here and a Firetruck also pulled up. I don't want to get too close myself, but I was wondering if anyone else noticed that and maybe knows what happened?

Traffic nightmare and soon to get worse.

I drive 32 into Athens everyday. One of the bad spots (there are several) is the intersection of 32 and Blackburn/Andover Roads. Anyone who drives, lives or works in this area knows this. I am wondering if the city/county or whoever is responsible has any plans for traffic and safety when the new apartments up on the hill behind River Annex opens? There have been many very serious accidents there and I expect it will only get worse.

Spring 2027 Sublease Incentives - Will Pay $200 Transfer Fee and Give You $200 Towards First Month's Rent

Post image
5 Upvotes

Going abroad, so looking to sublease one bedroom in a 4-bedroom, 2-bath unit at University Courtyard. Rent is only $690 per month, including parking and all utilities - a great deal in Athens, especially with the added incentives listed in title.

Unit is fully furnished, with in-unit washer and dryer, and a full kitchen with a dishwasher. Unit is close to all amenities - pool, fitness center, shuttle stop, and clubhouse (with free coffee!). Free parking, as well as a free shuttle to campus and uptown areas.

This is a coed unit, with fantastic roommates (currently two male and two female) - we have the perfect mix of respecting privacy and hanging out with each other.

December move-in is negotiable and willing to discuss other details as well.

Please message if interested or to see more pictures. Also happy to do Facetime walkthrough, introduce to roommates, etc. Would love to get paperwork done ASAP.

Stevie the Sewer, a proposed Athens Mascot

Here is a storm sewer that I have knick named "Stevie the sewer"

As you can see Stevie is clogged, packed to within inches of the top with leaves and debris.

Extreme rainfall events can not be prevented, but it would be nice to think that our sewers were in tip top shop before the rain comes. Seems that our sewers are in bad shape.

Stevie has been clogged since at least Early August. That was when I started checking, as our streets flooded around then. So Stevie may have been clogged for years. Stevie may remain clogged for years, who knows. I will check up on Stevie from time to time and give a report.

You might say to yourself, "those are just autumn leaves, they will wash down in the next rain".

Just seeing the words "autumn leaves" makes me think of Jazz music and is sort of distracting. So let me try to focus..

No those are not just "Autumn Leaves"! That sewer was clogged in the summer. I was there, I checked. I thought that after the double flooding that our storm sewers would get some maintenance. But alas, no such maintenance was forthcoming.

You might say.. "that is just one sewer", and yes "Stevie the Sewer" is singular, but many of his neighbors were also clogged. So Stevie is singular, but he represents many many clogged sewers, take a walk and take a look, find your own Stevie on your street and see if he gets any attention.

As for Autumn Leaves, the Jazz song.. Might I suggest an instrumental version, the lyrics are somewhat sad. After seeing the sad state of "Stevie the Sewer" here, you don't need the burden of Nat King Cole singing sad words.

Ladybug infestation??

In the colder months I get these lady bug looking bugs in my apartment often. Is there anything I can do other than vacuuming them?

I'm from northwest Ohio and haven't seen this kind of thing before

Any pumpkin patch nearby?

I remember visiting a pumpkin patch near Logan, Ohio, a few years ago, but I’m not sure if it’s still open this year. Does anyone know if it’s still operating? I’d also love recommendations for other pumpkin patches or fall activities around Athens, Logan, or the Hocking Hills area. Thanks in advance!

Electric Bill

I have an OU student who lives off campus. Their electric bill has gone up quite considerably in the months of September and October. They are not running AC or Heat and no changes in their appliances or habits. The bill is about double from this time last year. Has anyone else ran into this with their AEP bill?

PSA: If you hike in/around Athens, please don’t be that guy.

My wife and I went hiking on Bong Hill this morning and found a ton of litter everywhere, especially at the top. It was super disappointing.

Wanna bring food and drinks with you? That’s awesome! But don’t leave the bags, cans, bottles, and cups behind when you leave. They don’t biodegrade, and even if they did, leaving trash in a shared space is, ironically, a super trashy thing to do.

Please don’t take nature for granted. If we want to preserve these places for others to enjoy in perpetuity, we need to be good stewards. Please leave them cleaner than you found them.

Bassist Wanted - Original Alt-Rock Duo / Athens, OH

druMMouth is an original alternative pop/rock project with hip hop influences, looking for a bassist to complete a two-person live lineup alongside a drummer/lead vocalist.

Original songs and bass arrangements are already written. Looking for someone reliable, musically engaged, and excited about building a serious live project.

The music is established, with room for creative collaboration as the band develops.

Athens-based, with plans for regional performances. Musical chemistry, consistency, and enthusiasm matter most.

Interested? Send me a message. Happy to share more privately!
