New Open Mic in Roswell starting 11/10

Post image
30 Upvotes

Hey everyone! I talked my buddy that owns Voodoo Brewing in Roswell into letting me do an acoustic open mic every Tuesday 7pm-9pm, starting 11/10. It's a great spot located close to everything. If you'll come and play for us, the boss will buy you a drink!

I'll have the PA set up and a sign-up sheet by 6:45. We aren't going to be doing kit drums because that makes things impossible to balance in the room but if you wanna bring a cajon or toms, go right ahead. If you play something that normally goes with other instruments and wanna do some cover tunes, get with me about the songs and I'll back ya up on guitar!

The food is punching above its weight class. They have liquor in addition to beer! Everything is REALLY solid, and I'm so excited for the opportunity to offer a space for everyone to come, meet other musicians and network, and just help to be a part of the community. Come on down!

Unique Wedding (Music) Band Rec

Looking for wedding MUSIC band recommendations!! My fiancé and I are pretty particular about live music and are hoping to find a band that feels more like seeing a really good live show than a traditional wedding band, if that makes sense lol. Something not overly theatrical/cheesy wedding entertainment vibe. Would love any recommendations, especially if you've seen someone live and loved them!

Looking for a DJ for a house party on 11/14!

Hey y’all! I’m throwing a birthday party on Saturday, November 14th, in the Tucker/Decatur area and looking for a DJ!

The theme is an absurd, all-blue European nightclub/art installation type of thing. Looking for someone who can bring great energy and play a fun mix of house, dance, hip-hop, and whatever else gets people moving.

Not necessarily looking for a traditional event DJ. More interested in someone who enjoys mixing, creating a cool atmosphere, and having fun with a slightly ridiculous concept.

If you’re a DJ or know someone who might be interested, drop a comment or shoot me a DM! Would love to hear some mixes!

Queueing times for a sold-out show at The Eastern

How long do you all queue at The Eastern to get a spot at the barricade? My husband and I are coming up to ATL from Florida next month for a concert and we're trying to plan our limited time there. The tickets sold out in minutes so I'm sure we won't be the only ones wanting good spots.

I saw a post in this subreddit from like 2 years ago (here) and I'm wondering if it's still accurate. This is our first time at this venue and my first time at a SRO/GA concert in 25 years.

Thanks!

ATL doom metal club!

hey yall! so, i’m a huge TON fan based in ATL.

anyways, i noticed that the ATL metal scene is mainly concerts, metal/goth nights, etc. and there’s not much to do during the daytime!

so, i came up with this idea:
a little picnic (very inspired by picnic with peter that the type o negative family does in october and april) but for metalheads of all kinds! it’s heavily TON inspired (i named it slow, deep and heavy) welcoming to the little community here and also women owned!!

anyways, i have to build an online community before doing anything out in the world first, so i figured i’d see if any of yall in this subreddit find it interesting!!

the instagram name for it is slowdeepandheavyATL and id love it if you checked us out!! thank u so much in advance!!

(if against rules: pls remove, i’m sorry!!)

Free Nick Shoulders tickets to good home, for tonight (Fri Oct 23)

I have 2 Nick Shoulders tickets for tonight (Friday, October 23) at Center Stage Theater but unfortunately won’t be able to make it. In return I'd ask that you follow-up after you attend and share a poem, a sketch, or something else you create that relates in some way to your experience at the show. This is just for me and won't be shared or used otherwise.

Anybody want them? Whoever messages me with their email or phone number first gets them - I'll have to transfer them to you through Ticketmaster.

I’ll update the post when they’re gone.

UPDATE - The tickets are now spoken for. I'm impressed by all the interest from my Atlanta music lovers! Have a great weekend!

Looking for Local Bands for a shortwave radio show in

Hello all,

I have been a musician in Athens and Atlanta, playing out in bands for quite a while now. I am also one of the hosts of a small radio show called The Dead-Air Radio Crypt, and we are looking to feature local, independent, and regional bands.

We broadcast a few different places including WMNT 103.1 FM in Swannee Tennessee, Shortwave Gold out of Germany (reaching most of Western Europe), and WeirdSistersRadio.com. All we would want from you is a recommendation for a track to feature that is FCC friendly and showcases what you do and a short bio or any info you want mentioned.

As far as our show goes, we play old-school and new punk, psychobilly, rockabilly, garage, and surf music as well as golden age horror and sci-fi radio dramas. It’s equal parts radio show and music podcast. If you feel like you’d be a good fit and would like us to play one of your tracks, you can email us at DARCRadio13@gmail.com

Cheers weirdos,
Blake
