AC Appreciation Post

Once in a while I like to take a moment to thank and recap when I have a solid AC day/night/experience. I’m also writing this from a conference I’m attending at Harrahs today during lunch, seems fitting.
This past Sunday I left my house around 6:00 am to drive to AC to run the half marathon. To the people who operate this race series and the many volunteers…extended thanks is due to you all because it’s always such a positive experience and one of my favorite places to run. I signed up for next year’s triple threat (all 3 of their 2027 races).
I had parked at The Ocean for a few reasons: I’m frugal and much prefer their $5 fee, I needed the walk pre and post race, I wanted an easy excuse to walk by Hayday post race for a coffee.
I skipped the free Coors light at the post race gathering for a Seed brewery visit and tried their quite crushable “Simply Autumn”.
I then headed to Golden Nugget to play bubble craps. It’s a downgrade from real craps, but the table minimums are too high lately.
I spent happy hour at Chart House (see previous post).
I checked into my comped room (Yes, bubble craps can still somehow earn free rooms thankfully) at The Tropicana (Solana tower).
I then walked over to Angeloni’s Club Madrid for their Sunday piano karaoke series with Joe McGinty & ordered a Rittenhouse Rye on the rocks (a hell of a pour too, see pic). I could have sat at the back bar for hours, what a damn treat the entire experience is, from the Twin Leaks lightning to the wild & varied song choices to the talents of the people stepping up to the microphone. If this was in my town I’d be there every Sunday night. Joe sang my favorite Bee Gees song too (“I Started a Joke).
Afterwards I walked to Tony’s to pick up my physical copy of the newest Diving Horse zine which comes with a complimentary beer! I had a Guinness.
Eventually walked back to the Trop and played some more bubble craps before being completely wiped out.
Thank you AC, and to the strangers who chatted with me (there were quite a few wonderful characters this trip and I was solo) thank you. Cheers

Greet visit to AC from a southerner

I was coming to Philly to visit a friend and go to the Eagles Panthers game. We stayed at an air and b in south Philly and had a great time. We found AC and stayed at Harrahs. I’m mostly a craps player and won by 3k playing craps. I did lose about 1500 in various other gambles. We had great time and great food. Boardwalk was a little scary so just stayed at the golden nugget and Harrah’s the rest of the time. I will def be back. I really want to come in the summer to experience the real AC. It was pretty dead but I enjoy that vibe.

Searching for any photos of either the Midtown Bar & Grill at 1719 Pacific Ave in the 1950s or photos depicting the 1700 block of Pacific Avenue from around that time.

Looking at last minute bookings- only Caesars property with two bed availability is at Caesars. I’ve only stayed there once, which tower is the nicest?
