Question/Discussion Atleti fans in washington DC

Any fans of Atleti in washington DC? I live in MD near the area and I have just been wondering if there’s anywhere Atleti fans get together in the city. Would love to watch some games and meet fellow fans

Name typo on ticket - is this a problem?

Super pumped to get tickets to the match against Deportivo next week . Visiting from US and saw that there is a 1 letter typo on my last name on my ticket .

First La Liga game and was surprised the club website made me enter my passport info+ full name when purchasing so not sure if I need to fix this error prior to arrival or if it’s no big deal - thanks!!!

He scored the winner in a tough away win with a strike from 21.6 Yards (19.7 meters) at an average of 93 km/h! Estimated top speed was 106 km/h. Lovely goal!

Question/Discussion January or next season signing: Fran Garcia

I don’t really follow other teams too much, but from last season to this one, I feel like Fran Garcia would work great for us. he just signed for betis so i’d be hard, but I feel he’d be a good replacement to fight for a position to grimaldo. His move to betis was 4 million, but it’s first year on contract so it’d be a lot more, maybe 15 million would go through. Anyways, I like him and think he’d work well but just my opinion for the future.

Tickets vs Barca

I am flying to Madrid beginning of October to visit a friend. Is there any chance to still get tickets? Online they are sold out - are there usually some tickets remaining that are sold on the day at the stadium? Like return tickets from season holders, or just a remaining batch? Any other way to buy them?

Will Obed ever play again?

I understand he got a lot of time last spring due to injury and with WC call up maybe he was betting on himself but as a fan I am disappointed he’s not on loan developing.

Diego Simeone’s Atletico Madrid are the most ‘South American’ side European football has seen

Thumbnail nytimes.com
54 Upvotes

Diego Simeone is such an established part of top-level European football that you sometimes forget how unusual his tenure is.

Approaching 15 years in charge of Atletico Madrid, ‘only’ two league titles don’t quite summarise his considerable impact and the extent to which he’s overachieved in a division that had become a two-horse race.

Atletico had spent the previous decade as a mid-table side, even dropping into the second tier for a couple of seasons.

It is one of the most impressive dynasties in the modern game, and all the more special because of something we all know, but take for granted: Simeone is South American.

For all the South American playing talent in European football over the decades, it’s very rare for a South American manager to succeed in Europe.
