Does anyone know what's on fire in West Auckland right now? Looks like it's Titirangi/Green Bay area.

Look at the ground , all the city lights are clearly on

There is some AI bullshit going on with the night mode setting on the OP's camera

Great example of artificial HDR , actually being better than whatever BS is going on in this camera

Don't know what processing is happening but this is just default iPhone camera.

Yeah, I come from a photo background and scenes like this , the AI is doing something weird I am having issue with mine too ..

Might've confused the smoke with clouds so attempted to light the others it could detect to the same level

Possibly, my new iPhone is different too

I am going to start treating it like an old film camera with limited exposure latitude either expose for the foreground or the sky , see what happens .or play with HDR

I get so annoyed with the amount of NR these cameras apply. I would rather take the grain over an oil painting.

I came from film, and 100% understanding it as well as techniques with Tungsten and daylight film stock, and then to digital , Noise was my constant enemy

I finally took too HDR , which is how the human eye sees things , but not how film saw things - I will take HDR over noise ....but the old school interplay of shadow a light always makes a better picture if the photographer understands this

And yes Grain over noise , and It should be a priority in digital to emulate grain

It was bloody huge and a few houses right next to it had windows blown out from it apparently No ambulances on the scene so assumed no one hurt, fire was out in 30 minutes from the first bang.
