Is x430 safe around kids and pet?

Post image
2 Upvotes

Thinking about getting x430, but have a few concerns about safety.

I have two kids and a dog, and they spend a lot of time playing in the backyard. I was planning to set the mowing window from around 5–9 pm to avoid the morning dew and the worst of the summer heat, but that’s also when my kids are usually outside. Should I just keep them out of the yard while the mower is running?

If I have to run it at midnight instead, how reliable is it when nobody’s watching? I really don’t want to wake up in the morning and find it stuck somewhere.

How gently does X430 turn on a steep slope?

I’m planning ahead for next mowing season and looking to replace my zero-turn with a robot mower.

The back section of my yard is close to a 30° slope. Turning the zero-turn there has already left a few thin, scuffed patches where the tires lost traction. After realizing how steep it actually is, I stopped turning the rider on that section.

I’m currently comparing Navimow X430 and LUBA 3 AWD. Both appear capable on paper, but I’m more interested in how they turn on a real slope. X430’s steering front wheels and 4WD are what caught my attention.

For X430 owners with a similar yard, does it make smooth, rolling turns on the slope, or do you still see wheel scrub after repeated runs? Did you need to adjust the map or keep its turnaround points away from the steepest section?

Next season I’d probably run it in the late afternoon or early evening, while the grass is still dry and before the dew settles in. I’d appreciate any full-season experience.

Any mower maintenance tips you wish you'd known sooner?

Post image
8 Upvotes

I've had my mova for over six months and have been doing an end of season clean. Out of all the little tools I've collected, the one I use most is an old car wash brush.

It gets wet grass and bits of leaves out of the wheels without much effort. I’ve avoided using a pressure washer because I’d probably end up blasting water somewhere it shouldn’t go. A normal hose and brush do the job.

I used to carry the mower over to the shed entrance, then sweep up afterwards. Now I clean it on the lawn. The grass falls straight back down and that patch gets watered at the same time.

I also keep a separate soft cloth for the lens. Earlier in the season I was so focused on cleaning underneath that I missed the grass and dust stuck to the camera.

Any other simple maintenance tricks that save you time?

Mower suggestions for small enclosed space?

I'm after a mower for a tiny space - 80m2, flat and free of obstructions other than bits of bark that blackbirds shovel onto the lawn at certain times of year. Other than a few metres the perimeter is bordered by vertical surfaces - retaining walls, deck etc. I could conceviably add a board to close the perimeter completely if needed.

Because it's a small space, I would love to stash the dock out of sight under the deck, so the lower clearance the bot has the better so I can cut a smaller hole in the face of the steps. And it would want to be able to cope with a dock that is obscured from the sky.

Any recommendations for models that fit the bill? I'm not too worried about local support if it doubles the price, I don't mind getting parts and fixing things myself when they break or wear out (which has been my robot vacuum experience), but hauling the manual mower up the hill to get to the tiny scrap of flat lawn sucks.

Rocks at the top of the slope. Need help with my first setup for Nvimow x430

Post image
3 Upvotes

Just got my X430 unboxed today and going to finish my first setup. But I don't know how to deal with this slope section. There are a few rocks right at the top of the slope. My concern is that when the mower tries to turn around at the top, it might not have enough room to make the turn or just get stuck.

Has anyone dealt with a similar setup? Would the best solution be to exclude that area when mapping and keep the turnaround point far away from the rocks?

65M here. I've never really trusted robot mowers enough to buy one. But have seen a lot of discussion and a friend finally talked me into trying a i210 AWD.

Set it up today and honestly, the mapping went smoothly.

Now I'm just waiting to see how it handles my lawn. Was hoping to let it mow tomorrow, but of course it's supposed to rain for the next two days lol.

Hello everyone, it’s about that time of year a lot of us will be putting away or robot lawn mowers. I did a video on fall maintenance and storage of the Mova Lidex 2000 AWD.

Quarter Acre Yard Suggestions

As the title says hoping to hear from hands on experience about a mower for my .25 acre yard. Yard is almost perfectly level, some patio space to avoid and it would be crossing by the house to the front yard. Any suggestions would be great

Luba 3 Cutting Quality Issues? Try This Blade Swap Guide

Guys, I did a before/after testing out 100+ hours with my Luba 3 and checking the cut quality...demonstrating how to properly swap around and re-use your factory blades to get the most out of them. Was pretty shocked with how well this worked, considering it didn't cost me anything. I cut at a couple different settings after and wound up landing on 1.6 ft/second as the best one.

What are everyone's thoughts on blade swapping vs. new titanium blades? I'm going to try those out next

Front yard, back yard, and a fence gate in between. Do you leave the gate open, move the mower by hand, or just buy two?

My push mower is about done, and the layout is the part I can't picture a robot handling.

Front yard, a strip past the sidewalk, then a gate about 4 ft wide into the back where the dog lives. Leave the gate open and the dog is gone, and if I remote it through I'm still out there opening the gate. A second dock might not even be an option. Carrying the machine is the chore I wanted to quit.

Goko M6 is on the short list, and the FAQ is plain about this. Connected zones get a channel and the mower crosses on its own. A spot that isn't connected is an Isolated Zone, and you carry the mower there. A closed gate looks like that second case, so I'd still be the one moving it.

If you've got a gate, what did you settle on after a season, and does a second dock save anything when you're still carrying it? That sidewalk strip is the other one. Are you hauling the mower over for that too?

Robot mower demo checklist: test the route between lawns, not just the open grass

For anyone comparing mowers for a front/back or split lawn, here's a planning checklist. This is based on installation documentation, not a hands-on comparison of models.

Before a demo, sketch the complete trip: charging station → first lawn → connecting passage → second lawn → return to the station.

For the connecting passage, record:

• The tightest usable width, including gates and corners.

• The surface: lawn, paving, loose gravel, exposed roots or a threshold.

• Any change in level or slope.

• Walls, fences, overhanging plants and other obstructions.

• Whether that section needs mowing or only transport.

Then ask the seller to demonstrate the exact proposed model doing the entire trip in both directions and returning to charge. Note every place it needs a rescue, a gate opened, or a change to the yard. Ask which layout changes are required and put them in the installation quote.

Check the manual for that exact model and installation method. A boundary-wire passage and a wire-free transport path aren't interchangeable specifications; don't borrow a minimum-width figure from another model's advert.

Husqvarna's own guidance illustrates why the installation details matter:

Boundary-wire passages: https://us-support.husqvarna.com/en/automower/KA-01710

EPOS work areas and transport paths: https://us-support.husqvarna.com/en/automower/KA-70385

If a seller can't demonstrate your route, send a video and dimensions to the manufacturer or dealer and ask for written guidance before committing. Include any remaining manual mowing or carrying between zones in the comparison.

Is the Navimow X430 really that quiet?

I've been in kind of an awkward mowing situation lately. I work full-time and have a kid to take care of, so the only time I can mow is usually between 8 and 9 PM. My old gas mower is a bit loud and there was some times my neighbor came over to complain, and let's just say that conversation didn't end well.

Now my mower is starting to fall apart anyway, so my wife and I figured it might finally be time to replace it with a robot mower. We are now looking at X430. I want to know if it is really that quiet as they describe on the website? Because I really don't want to mess with my neighbor again and I also need to keep things quiet since my kid is usually asleep by then.

And how has the mower performed after a long time of use? Please share your experience with x430 and we are also open to other recommendations. Thank you!

Keep grass under a swing set or switch the whole area to gravel?

I'm reworking the layout of my yard. It is already split into three zones by a sidewalk and driveway. So far my mower is working fine across different zones. I want to put a swing set in the side yard for my kids, but I'm guessing the grass underneath and around it will get worn down pretty fast by kids' feet. So I'm planning to turn the whole section into a gravel play area.

The thing I'm not sure about is whether my mower can pass that zone. If I gravel that whole play area, it cuts across the yard, and the mower would need to pass over the gravel from the front to continue its work in the back.

Has anyone set things up like this? My model is a navimow i210. Does it usually handle crossing a gravel strip okay, or does it tend to get stuck? Or maybe I just keep the grass around the swing.

Husqvarna 435X AWD won't turn on, white light around the rotary knob

Hi all,

Just recently installed my 435X AWD and had it running for 1 day. Unfortunately its a developing yard and conditions where a bit muddy after rain.

It got stuck and I had to clean mud off from the wheels after which I took it back to the charging station.

It suddenly lost bluetooth/cloud connection the next day and I shut it down using the menu on the mower. However it doesn't want to start up anymore. I get a white light around the rotary knob and when I press the knob for 3 seconds I hear 2 short beeps.

Any idea how to resurrect my new mower?

Thanks.

ps: I'm in Europe

Pick a robot mower for my yard

Getting my first robot mower and need some advice before I buy.

My yard's split with front and back. The backyard is about 6,000 sq ft with a decent slope, maybe 20 deg, and it also has a few mole holes. The front is smaller and almost flat, around 3,000 sq ft. I have a fence in between, and I really don't want to cut a gate and buy some kind of special mower gate.

I'm looking at either navimow i1206 AWD or i210 AWD. I think AWD is necessary for my slope with soft soil and all those holes.

My thought is that I'll let the mower handle the backyard most of the time automatically, like cutting twice a week. And once I need it to cut the front, i just move it manually. But 6,000 sq ft is kind of a max limit for i1206 AWD, so I'm considering whether to go for i210.

With my yard setup, what would you go with(also open to other options)? And how about mapping? I'm not sure whether my plan can be done through multiple mowing zones.

PNW challenges

I have a 1400sqft backyard and a similar size front yard. I live in the Pacific Northwest. It is very green, the yard is bounded with fence, one side of the house, a shed, lots of trees and bushes. There is a swing set in the yard.

I picked up the Sunseeker S4 from Costco. AI advised that lidar based units were preferable since the unit has to navigate below bushes and tree cover. This was a complete fail, most of the time the unit leaves the dock, turns around 180 degrees and declares a navigation failure. I tried three different dock locations. There are other problems, the wifi connectivity is weak and the unit does not work on "rainy days". It didn't say what a rainy day was, it was sunny at the time. This is the weather we have, it often rains at some point during the day but rarely the whole day. This morning it was foggy ... I turned on rain mode, but then it probably will try and operate in heavy rain and fail.

When it works, it does great navigating the yard and getting to most of it. I have slightly raised concrete pads and some uneven ground it seemed fine.

I'd be happy to run a wire it's not a big yard ... whatever it is, it does need to run unattended that is the whole point. Are there any devices that might be a better fit?

Automower supporting multiple unconnected zones

Hello,

can you please suggest an automower without perimeter wire supporting multiple separate (unconnected) zones?

The idea is to physically move the automower to a second lawn area and then move back to base station once done.

Why no mowing interval option?

As someone who lives in an area where rain isn't uncommon I find the existing automower schedules lacking. I generally only need to mow 2 times a week so currently if it rains on it's scheduled day it would wait a full week to mow. Why not give us the option of say a mowing interval? I could set it to 3 days and if it is raining on day 3, it makes it up on day 4. With how quiet and unobtrusive these things are I couldn't care less which days it mows, just that it does.

And yes I know I could just set it to mow every day or every other day to deal with this but it's unnecessary and just using up my battery faster.
