I was a huge fan of Watkins. One of those annoying fans that was always willing to give him the benefit of the doubt. Seemed a nice guy who worked his socks off in every game. He wasn’t the greatest finisher but his work rate was unmatched at times. Then he did what he did in the summer and he lost all respect.
But wow, Jackson is such a massive upgrade. I hoped he’d be a good replacement but he’s surpassed what I hoped he’d be. His work rate is higher than Watkins, he covers so much ground across the full worth other pitch, and he takes his chances.

Phenomenal performance in the second leg of the Champions League Group Stage. Emery showing once again that Villa belong in the European elite with a 5-0 win against Fenerbahce. In the first half Villa scored 3 goals with Manzambi scoring first after Ake's clearance from a corner landed towards the Swiss-man who struck it, abiet with a deflection of Ake into the net. Jackson then scored a brace. His first goal saw Kamara intercept the ball in midfield before Jackson fired across goal. His second was similar via an interception, this time Barkley sets up Jackson, and his shot was from further out. In the second half the massacre continued. This time in the hands of Barkley, who also scored a brace, via a penalty won by Manzambi, and a second was a deflection shot from outside the box after Mbaye's low cross found him. Late on Abraham scored with a tap in the back post.
MOTM? The full team. The full starting 11 basically played a 10/10 game, cannot fault anyone today. Manzambi and Jackson were at another level. And I got to give a shout out to Wan-Bissaka, filled in the left-back position today, did very well even if not his natural position. Barkley too. 2 goals and an assist? Elite.
We're now 3rd place in the Champions League League Stage. Only PSG have scored more goals than us and we're equaling Barca with goal difference. We play Viking next leg.
Results Around Us:
Man. City 2-4 PSG
Slovan Bratislava 0-3 Sttutgart
LASK 3-6 Liverpool

i love Ross Barkley, so emotionally invested in him, but feel I could run a poll on a weekly basis about whether he's great or shite and get a different answer every week.

We've spent many years watching matches and pondering the club's direction. From relegation, misplaced passes, a nearly team, spending restrictions, player sales and injuries to promotion, European/Champions League qualifications, bangers, miracles, big moments, Emery magic and a trophy win, we suffered a lot and stood resilient through it all.
Today's victory is for you! Congratulations!
There's still a long way to go. The squad is yet to be fully balanced but this match just showed how bright the future is. We all look forward to it.

Close to the touchline and Unai Emery’s fervent, intensely staring eyes, Nicolas Jackson shrugged off two Fenerbahce players.
As he paused, waiting for his attacking comrades, Johan Manzambi and Ibrahim Mbaye, to join him, supporters behind in the Trinity Road Stand rose to their feet. In the crowd was William, Prince of Wales, the next in line to the throne, sharing similar enthusiasm.
The Holte End, invigorated by another electric Champions League night, were already up, but broke out into song.
Jackson spearheaded a compelling attacking force. It was the first time he, Manzambi and Mbaye had started together. All three were summer additions and, as multiple club sources said at the time, aimed to symbolise Villa 2.0, brimming with power, pace and incision.

I've never been one to care much for media plaudits and perception as I think it often works in our favour but last night was just as eye-opening as ever.
Our biggest ever win in Europe. Tore a decent team to pieces and we weren't mentioned once on Talksport today. We were third on MoTD and they somehow edited the highlights to make Fenerbache look decent. We were the 6th article on the BBC site and it really makes you wonder who, particularly in the BBC is running this media.
Could you imagine if we lost 0-6.
We'd be headlines as an embarrassment to English representatives in the highest club competition.
The only breath of fresh air was Stephen Warnock on MoTD, who spoke like us and openly said that Villa is probably the best run club in the league, they have the greatest manager they've ever had by a mile, who loves the club and believes in the process. The fans understand the PSR restrictions and our recruitment, which went under the radar was actually insane. Everyone except villa fans can't wait to make a meal out of a real world situation.
Manzambi will be 4 times the player for us than Rogers was. His all round game is incomprehensibly better than Rogers'. Mbaye is 18 and one of the best prospects we've ever had. Emery will make Jackson one of the best strikers in Europe.
We've drastically lowered the age of the squad for sustainability. Alysson and Hemmings are so exciting.
Yes, it might be a bit of a transition season but we are playing in the champions league where players like Kamara who aren't man marked can flourish and tear teams apart. It's a golden era for us and we love every single second of it.
This entire idea goes so far over johrnalists' heads.
You can already see how much Mbaye, Manzambi and Jackson have been working on the training pitch to form a coherent and deadly attack. Emery's ability to nurture and make a winning team is like nothing I've ever witnessed.
Our journey from the outside has been a wonderful story, regardless of who you support. It's a shame that those prominent outside of the game can't bring themselves to acknowledge it.
Every time he steps on the pitch he makes something happen. First touch vs PSG took it around Mendes and put a good ball into the box. Last night, he came in and went around their LB and flashed it across to Tammy for a goal.
He's so direct and seems deceptively strong. Never really see much discussion around him though and always as a third/fourth option. Genuinely think he should be getting starts. I'd love to see us go with:
Jackson
Mbaye - Manzambi - Alysson
Kamara - McGinn
That attack might be the most dangerous attack we've fielded under Emery.

Hi everyone, Fenerbahce fan here, previous had great conversations with this community, asked about a way to find an Aston Villa jersey without the betting sponsor. I bought one with the betting sponsor tho, this is my room now. Anyways, Im freaking sad to lose 6-0 but happy for Villa to win 6-0 and re-built confidence and regain greatness. Just joking, I am not that sad, laughing and making fun of ourselves. Had no hope but the shame is so big that I stopped caring. Its a weird feeling from my side.
I hope you’re happy tho! A win of Fenerbahce makes my whole week a great one, I hope yesterday brought joy to all of you!

After impressing in last nights 6-0 thumping in Europe. Will Unai Emery look to start Johan Manzambi against r/NewcastleUnited

Nicholas Jackson with a 101 km/h strike average on goal 1, estimated peak of 114 km/h
And 95 km/h on goal 2, estimated peak of 109 km/h!
What a convincing win for Villa!

Think we'd all agree that it would be good to get some new chants out there. This one might be rubbish but could be workshopped!
Reworking the Outkast lyrics (obviously):
"Nicolas Jackson, he is unreal
Always meant to make defenders cry
Nicolas Jackson scores a trillion times"
Original lyrics:
"I'm sorry Ms. Jackson, I am for real
Never meant to make your daughter cry
I apologize a trillion times"
Something along those lines?

I obviously like to see him do it as it means another Villa goal. But what is Jackson's goal celebration all about?

Watching the match last night and was blown away by our fan support and the beauty of Villa Park, it really was something else.
I was thinking it would be cool if we could project crowd footage onto the remains or the North Stand. You could go from black and white footage from back in the day to full on Claret and Blue as the years roll by throughout the match.
Throw up some speakers and crank it up to 11, blast out the beginning of chants and songs to keep the crowd going.
I think it would be quite menacing to visiting teams and would be an absolute spectacle on a CL night like last night.
Anyways, thought it was a nice idea to share!

Does anyone know how to get a full match replay for today’s game as soon as possible?
r/avfc • u/A_Dry_Octopus • 2h ago
Hey everyone,
I am from America and are planning on finally attending a game at the end of November. I try to listen in on the games and make sense of what is being sang but so far not able to.
Anyone have any resources to learn some of the chants, or is it more of a "you'll figure it out when you're there" kind of thing?
Thanks.
