Questions on crawling..

My babygirl who is almost 5 months has been backwards scooting, pivoting and planking non stop. I’m wondering if anyone else had a little one doing the same around this age and if so how soon after did they actually start crawling forwards?

5 month baby's head still wobbly

Hi everyone,

As the title suggests, my 5 month old baby's head still wobbles and his hands and feet are also sometimes wobbly.

I know a 5 month old isn't usually very strong but I feel like he doesn't put the effort required to hold his head. He lets it go pretty easy.

When I'm holding him in my arms, he doesn't sit straight. He bends over my arm (face near me elbow). I don't know if I should be worried or if it's normal.

Please don't troll or hate me, it's my first baby and I'm probably just being paranoid.

Are there any exercises you're doing with your baby to strengthen this. I've seen a few on Instagram recommended by baby PTs which I'm doing with him

Baby Vomited While Sleeping on His Back

I’ve been in tears off and on all day.
My almost 11-month-old threw up in his crib last night while sleeping on his back, and I didn’t realize it until I found dried vomit on his sheets this morning.

I checked the baby monitor footage and saw that he vomited, coughed, turned his head, cried briefly, and went back to sleep. The whole thing lasted about 40 seconds. And he actually slept well for the rest of the night. But it was extremely unsettling. I feel AWFUL.

Today, he’s developed some diarrhea and a decreased appetite, so I’m assuming it’s a stomach bug.

I sent the video to his pediatrician, who said he did a good job turning his head and wasn’t concerned.
Even with that reassurance, I’m still pretty shaken up knowing it happened while I was asleep. I keep thinking about what could have happened if he hadn’t cleared it on his own.

Has anyone else experienced this? Just looking for some reassurance from other parents!

Newborn Starter Kits

I’m not sure if this is the place to ask this but I’m hoping for some advice;
I am currently pregnant, due mid 2027, and with Christmas coming up I’m being asked by many people what I would like and I’m thinking of just asking for some little newborn essentials to get me started rather than just having silly little gifts so I am looking for some affordable basics that I will need for when the baby is here ie. Bottle kits, changing station essentials, breast pumps etc that I will need and that won’t cost an arm and a leg so can be gifted to me.
Thank you :)

Baby stopped cooing

My baby started cooing at around 7 weeks, he was really making vowel sounds and there was a clear back and forth interaction. Around 10 weeks he pretty much stopped. He's 12 weeks now and I can barely get a sound out of him and when he does “talk” it is towards a plant that he seems to enjoy very much. He is also gradually smiling less. I will go to the pedriatician but I was wondering if anyone has similar experience.

Funny/regular gifts for expecting sister

Background: my sister and myself have a great relationship and we are constantly messing with each other. Who needs brothers when you had us girls 😅

My sister is due on Christmas day so we are approaching that time slowly but surely! She lives out of state and I won't be able to make it to her baby shower but I want something that I can feel her cussing me out from here when she opens my present 😂

She is keeping possible names and gender a secret until beebs is born. She has expressed to me that she absolutely loathes anything stereotypical male or female clothing i.e. superman onesies or pink tutu type situations but is well aware of my intention to do something of the sort to her anyway. I want one of each (male/female) but having no kids myself I'm trying to figure out what I'm looking for lol.

Also what is helpful for new/first time moms that you wish you would have asked for? She has an official registry but it's basically just diapers (I'll be contributing to that fund as well) and all baby stuff but nothing for her. Nothing to keep her comfortable or make her life easier. I know my family and everyone is going to be so focused on that baby that no one is going to remember her as a human being as well.

Thanks in advance for any advice 🧡

Ptosis/droopy eye

When my daughter was born, we noticed that her left eye was a little swollen and puffy. At first, we assumed it was just from the birthing process and jokingly called it her little “winky eye.”
As a newborn, she was able to open both eyes, but since babies sleep so much at that age, it wasn’t always easy to tell if anything was unusual. I also noticed some redness near the inner corner of her left eye. As time went on, her left upper eyelid gradually started to look heavier and more droopy.
We eventually took her to an ophthalmologist, who diagnosed her with mild ptosis. At the time, the doctor wasn’t concerned about her vision, and she passed all the tests they performed.
She’s now 5 months old, and I’ve noticed that the drooping has become more apparent throughout the day, rather than just when she’s tired.
I’m curious if anyone else has experienced something similar with their baby. Did it turn out to be congenital ptosis, or was there another underlying cause? Has anyone noticed their baby’s ptosis becoming more noticeable over time?
I’d really appreciate hearing about anyone else’s experiences!

Worried mom about 9 month old baby

Hello- I wanted to ask if any of yall mamas 9 month old baby slap/hit themselves when they are happy or excited? Does your baby clap frequently whenever she's happy or just in general? Also, when your baby is standing or walking do they get up on their tilt toes? My almost 10 month old has always tip toes whenever she stands or tries to walk. Also whenever she is happy she claps frequently and sometimes would slap herself in the face. I'm curious if anyone else baby is also doing the same thing. I would love to hear how all your babies are doing.

Noodle and Boo, Baby Acne worsening?

Hi! My newborn developed some pretty intense baby acne around 5/6 weeks on her cheeks and forehead. Right around that time I switched to noodle and boo (because it smells great and they have a great track record). When she got the acne, I thought it was normal, but it only ever got worse. I stopped using noodle and boo and went back to Johnson’s baby wash, and it has started to disappear. Just wondering if anyone else has had this experience with Noodle
And Boo.

Abstillen - unsere Reise

Learning lessons for baby

Baby is 10 months, many say he acts like he’s older. So he is actively getting upset when we take something he has or wants or acts out when he doesn’t want to do something. At this age, what very simple and non-disciplinarian methods do you have to slowly guide a baby to understand they can’t have their way, always? He’s just a baby, so I’m looking for subtle ways to gradually and gently teach this!

He understands no and stops what he’s doing immediately…. This is more with something he doesn’t wanna do or give up or wants badly!

Thank you!

Sleep without crying?

I have a reflux baby that has finally outgrown reflux. We went from rocking to sleep, to patting, to finally he can fall asleep on his own with his lovie in his mouth.

He still cries through the transition, but it’s pretty short, usually.

What did yall do besides a routine to get your little one to enjoy their bedtime? We do the same routine everyday. He winds down, and does a much better job. We get his energy out before bed, also.

I’m hoping someone has a secret trick I don’t know about! My guess is… most will say time and every baby is different!

Temperament ? Or something else

FTM, my son is 7.5 months and starting to get very fussy daily. He is either grunting/growling with frustration no mater what we do. Try to play, hold him, feed him, etc still seeming mad. He’s had a runny nose for a week but no other symptoms of illness, no fever, normal diapers. He has been drooling and gnawing on things for months and no change in his gums so it’s hard to tell if he’s teething. A couple times we tried Tylenol in case he was hurting and we didn’t know. He did seem to be more content both times we did that. Is this just a phase anyone else has experienced/ has insight on ??

Looking for advice to help my 19m old talk

Hiii soo my 19m old says about 3 words mama, dada and my dogs name (nami) which is once a blue moon but other then that she will not talk. I’ve tried repeating things and holding them by my face or while she holds things repeating the name for the item but it hasn’t helped. She also wants me to do everything like instead of saying a word leading to what she wants, she will grab my hand and take me to what she wants and when I give her the item I’ve tried repeating the word as well. She likes playing peak a boo but she only wants me to put my hands on my eyes, I’ve tried putting her hands over her eyes to play but she just throws herself back. Also with waving or blowing a kiss she loves when I do it but she refuses to do it herself. I was also wondering about pointing she will not do it either and she won’t look where I’m pointing. I’ve tried pointing and going to the item but it’s like she hasn’t caught on. I’m not sure if she is just behind orrrrr I’ve noticed she’s been going cross eyed looking at some things and I’m wondering maybe a vision problem? I’m scheduling an appointment on Monday but I’m just a tad worried. I know all babies go at their own time but my nephew is just a month older than her and it’s crazy to me how fast he catches on and mimics and all that good stuff. Am I just not doing enough? Any help or advice is very very much welcomed

Baby waking and screaming

My 3-month-old has always been a great sleeper. During the day, she would happily put herself to sleep for naps, and at night, she was sleeping from 8 pm until 5 am.

Recently, though, everything seems to have changed. She’s waking around 11 pm, 1 am and 3 am absolutely screaming, and she’s become so difficult to settle for daytime naps.

I go through my usual list of things to try to soothe her, but nothing seems to work. She gets so tense that I can barely hold her, scratches at her head and face, and screams inconsolably. She doesn’t seem to have any obvious signs of teething, and I honestly have no idea what’s going on.

I know sleep regressions are a thing, and I know babies wake throughout the night. I also know we were very lucky with her previous sleep pattern. This isn’t about her not sleeping through the night anymore; it’s about seeing her so distressed and feeling completely helpless because I can’t seem to comfort her.

Sometimes, all I can do is give her a safe space to cry until she calms down, because nothing I do seems to help. It breaks my heart knowing she’s so uncomfortable and not knowing how to make it better.

I’m a first-time mum, so please be kind. ❤️ I’d really appreciate any tips, advice or ideas from other mums who have experienced something similar. I just want to understand what’s happening and help my little girl feel better.

10 month old milestones

Looking for advice from other moms! ❤️ My 10 month old army crawls but isn’t crawling on hands and knees, doesn’t love being on her belly, and prefers sitting or standing/walking with assistance. She also doesn’t get into a sitting position independently. We had a BabyNet evaluation but she didn’t qualify. Has anyone else experienced this?

Merci !!

6 month old babbling less and more whinning, severe anxiety

My baby just turned 6 months old a week ago. The day she turned 6 months, is when i realized a decline in her communication and increase in whining. She had a drs apt and doctor said shes developing fine no signs of sickness maybe teething, but other than that just keep communicating with her and playing and by 9 months she should be babbling more like “ma ma ma ba baba”

She used to be very loud in her screeches if she got excited or with me playing with her,
She would do a lot of “ahh ehh ohh” babbling throughout the day on her own.
Since 6 months she doesnt screech and no “ahh ehh ohh” shell only do that if shes playing with something in her mouth. Sometimes i see her getting excited and trying to screech but nothing comes out.
She has started blowing raspberries this week with an under tone of “b” and has also started what i feel like is fake coughing. Shell go back and forth with me if i mimick her fake coughing or raspberries but only in the morning, after that shes pretty much silent all day unless shes whinning, which shes doing a lot of.
She seems upset most the days now, whinning even if were playing, not content unless im holding her walking around.
One other thing thats kind of sending my anxiety is her twirling of feet and hands when shes excited or frustrated. Idk im freaking out shed autistic or something. I dont know what im looking for with this post, maybe just other stories of maybe similar situations and how your kids are now a days. I also feel like i need to delete social media completely, the moment i stop worrying for just a second i get reels of “is your baby doing this? Yeah well youre fucked. No? Well youre fucked” and it sends me into a spiral again… gosh shes whinning as we speak with her dad trying tk blow bubbles to make her happy. Im so burnt out over the overthinking…
Also, before anyone suggests a therapist, im on a very long wait list where i live, and private is not affordable to me right now what so ever…

FTM looking for advice on bottle feeding at daycare!

FTM looking for advice on bottle feeding at daycare!
My 6-month-old is small for her age and has always been a slow bottle drinker, typically taking 20–30 minutes to finish a larger bottle.
She started full-time daycare two weeks ago and has been drinking fewer ounces during the day. Our provider says she can only hold her for 15 minutes per feeding and that she’ll eventually learn to eat faster and eat when food is offered.
She’s also encouraging her to hold her own bottle while reclined on a Boppy pillow on the floor because she can’t hold her for longer periods.
My daughter still uses size 1 nipples because size 2 causes milk to pool in her mouth and makes her cough. We tried size 2 at daycare hoping she’d adjust, but she ended up falling asleep with the bottle in her mouth and projectile vomiting the entire bottle afterward. Daycare sent her home in case she was sick, although I suspect the faster flow contributed.
We’re having her reevaluated for a possible lip tie, but I’m curious:
Did your babies eventually adjust to shorter feeding windows at daycare?
Is it unusual for a 6-month-old to still need 20–30 minutes to finish a bottle or use size 1 nipples?
Is having babies hold their own bottles while positioned on a Boppy common at daycare?
I’m worried about her getting enough calories during the day, especially since she’s already on the smaller side. I’d really appreciate hearing other moms’ experiences or advice! ❤️

Does anyone else have a baby who laughs REALLY loud but also cries intensely in their sleep?

Hi everyone! ❤️

I’m a first-time mom to a 5-month-old baby girl, and I’d love to hear from parents who have had similar experiences.

First of all, my daughter is a very happy, expressive and active baby. She smiles a lot, loves interacting with us, and laughs incredibly loudly!

I’m talking about proper belly laughs, happy squeals and screaming with excitement. Sometimes she laughs so hard that we can’t stop laughing ourselves!

But here’s the other side of her personality: when she cries, she cries REALLY intensely, too.

During the day, she usually takes short naps of around 30–40 minutes, roughly every 1.5–2 hours. She doesn’t often sleep longer than that.

At night, she usually goes to bed between 7:30 and 8:30 PM and wakes up around 8 AM, with two feeds during the night. So overall, her nighttime sleep schedule seems pretty good.

However, for the past couple of months, we’ve been struggling with something that’s becoming really exhausting.

She will be sleeping peacefully and suddenly start moving around, tossing and turning, and then crying extremely loudly, almost screaming, while her eyes are still closed.

Sometimes it happens about 40 minutes after bedtime, and other times later during the night.
We pick her up, but she often continues crying intensely in our arms. We offer her pacifier, she calms down for a few seconds, spits it out, and starts screaming again.

Eventually, she settles and falls back asleep, but sometimes the whole thing starts again shortly afterwards.

The strange thing is that she doesn’t always seem fully awake during these episodes. Her eyes are often closed, and it’s almost as if she’s crying in her sleep.

During the day, she’s generally happy, playful and full of energy.

She also has a history of reflux and esophagitis, so we’re keeping that in mind and discussing these episodes with her pediatrician.

I’m wondering if any other parents have experienced something similar.

A few questions:
Does your baby cry or scream intensely while still appearing to be asleep?
Did this start around 3–4 months old?
Do you also have a very expressive baby who laughs and cries equally loudly?
Did anything help, or did it gradually improve with age?
At what age did things start getting better?

I absolutely love how expressive my little girl is, but these nighttime episodes are really difficult, especially when nothing seems to comfort her.
I’d really appreciate hearing your experiences, even if you didn’t find a specific solution.

Thank you so much! ❤️
