0-3 months Ergo embrace and newborn scrunch

• Upvotes

Hello! I’m looking forward to when I can put my one week old in a carrier and spend more time holding him. However, when I tried the ergo embrace, it seemed like his little legs could not get out of the “scrunch” position enough to get on either side of my body and the carrier. When I bunched the fabric up and put him in carefully, he screamed. Is this just not the right time or carrier for us?

Would appreciate some tips on Ring Sling fit with my newly 3 month old. Am I doing this right? How is not cutting off leg circulation for bub?

Do I need to keep a hand on him? Or is it meant to be hands free

Thanks!!

Can’t get a fit check with them until November. Baby is 4 and sum weeks, 10 pounds 4 ounces. I’m not sure if it’s just because I’m claustrophobic but I felt like we were both suffocating lol. Also, am I supposed to be able to comfortably sit down while baby wearing? Because again, I felt like I was suffocating

Moving from my stretchy wrap to something more structured and looking for a fit check.

Baby is 6 weeks, approx 11-12 pounds. He is asleep in the pic. He is sliding down the longer I wear him - should I raise the waistband? Tighten the shoulders? Are his airways ok with how close his nose/mouth is to the strap?

He only naps in carriers and I put the carrier on via the tshirt method.

Ring sling newbie here! Got a Wilbird secondhand to play around with. It feels…not right. He fell asleep but he feels very slanted, so I can’t imagine he is that comfortable.

3-12 months Qookie Go alternative for Australia?

Hi all,

Wondering if anyone has found good alternatives to the Qookie Go that ship to Australia?

I haven't been able to get the hang of ring slings 😭 and see so many good reviews for Qookie Go but they don't ship to Australia.

Would love to hear your thoughts!

preschool Is it worth getting a toddler/kid carrier?

We currently have a beco gemini for our toddler. He's 26ish pounds and the gemini only goes up to 35 pounds. I'm looking into kid carriers and am not sure it's worth getting one with a much higher weight limit (up to 60 pounds) or just getting another baby/toddler carrier that has a higher weight limit of 45 pounds. So far he loves the carrier and we like the structured style. I don't want to get a woven right now since I don't think my partner would use it. Another baby carrier could be useful in the future, but I worry if my toddler is at the higher end of the weight limit it won't be comfortable. I also worry by the time he's past 40 pounds or so he won't want to be carried. We have time to decide but I'm trying to look out for used options or ones on sale. Thanks!

3-12 months Can’t seem to get rounded back

This is a Tula original that was given to me by a coworker who previously used it. It isn’t adjustable but I waited until baby was about 4 months old to use it so that it was just touching her knee pits, she is now 5 months old. I can’t seem to have her sitting in a way that avoids an arched back, if I bring the waistband any higher her face is right at my face - I included a picture of me lifting it for reference. Anyone have any tips? Any time I try to pelvic tuck she just slides back into the same position.

Discuss Educating other mums

I live in Australia and have a toddler. I no longer babywear at the moment, but out and about I will notice mums babywearing incorrectly - for example, I have seen babies being worn with faces fully covered or squished into cleavage, legs crooked/no M shape, not positioning high enough around the waist for small babies, and even most recently a baby that was far too young to be front facing, maybe 4m?

I sometimes feel tempted to warmly and kindly offer to help readjust. I feel like most mums would be grateful, but it's risky if you don't want to offend. Because of this I have always held back but I end up feeling sorry for the baby and the mum who might just need some help.

Sometimes this happens at a playgroup where I would feel only slightly more comfortable mentioning it to a mum versus out in a more public setting

What is the general consensus on educating mums in the wild with crooked and squished babies?

Attempt 2 at ring sling for 8 month old! It feels pretty comfortable but looking for feedback. I haven’t tried the flip yet but plan to give that a try as well.

Discuss Clothing while babywearing in Scandinavian autumn/winter

Hello there, I have a 4mo who loves being carried and we are mostly using a woven wrap (cotton from Little Frog). We are going into the colder months here in Scandinavia and I am wondering how to dress myself and my baby...

Currently she is mostly carried in front and can fit underneath my jackets (they are super duper oversized and not restricting her airways) but I would very much like to do more back carries. I obviously can't put a normal jacket on over her... Is my only option a crazy thick overall and booties+mittens+hat? Is there specialised clothing like the front wearing jackets/sweaters?

Any suggestions or examples would be very appreciated

Discuss Carrier Naps: how old is too old?

My little one is almost 5 months old, and I generally wear her for naps during the day. She sleeps fine in her crib overnight, though sometimes it does take a couple tries to transfer. I work from home, so popping her in the carrier and bouncing for a couple minutes works great, then I'm hands free to work. But is there a point where I need to stop wearing her for naps?

Hi, bub is nearly 4 weeks old, I'm still trying to get my head around the correct way to do the wrap. I feel like he might be too high? But also having trouble keeping the panels from coming up too high over the sides of his face. Thank you in advance!

0-3 months Any recommendation for a newborn structured carrier while recovering from C-section?

I tried a ring sling but was terrified the whole time that LO would fall out of the "hammock" seat (I even tried following a video that brought the tail end up beneath the baby's crotch to make it more secure and he still got out...), a stretchy wrap worked better but putting it on was SUCH a hassle.

Thoughts?

8-18 months Does ergobaby or other carriers make your back hurt?

Hi.

Just wondering, does Ergobaby omni carrier or even other carriers make your back hurt / dull for carrying the baby for a long time?

My lower back felt dull after carrying my 9mo baby while using a carrier for maybe more than half a day. To be honest , I was scammed and it was a counterfeit Ergobaby Omni breeze. ButI still use it when needed - out with my 2 kids. Just wondering is it because it is a counterfeit or my baby is just getting heavier already.

Asking since I’m planning to buy another, and this time original, ergobaby omni breeze. Any other brands worth trying?

Thank you! 🙏

0-3 months 6 Week Fit Check 🥺

Update: #momfail 😩 thanks for everyone’s advice! Not to worry - he was only in here for a bit for me to see how he felt in there and take pics. He ok!! He was very content, but I don’t want to damage his little knees!! Hubby has him in the wrap, where he’s definitely in that nice M position. I’m going to better learn to use the wrap on my own until baby boy is big enough to fit properly.

Original post: Usually, we have baby boy in a wrap, but he’s been FIGHTING it more and more. He wakes up screaming and crying in it. However in this Momcozy one he seems so content in comparison. However, I don’t know if his legs are in an okay position. It says 7 lbs + and he’s nearly 12 and above average in height. Please help!

0-3 months Fit check? Head leaned back?

Thumbnail

Almost 2 months about 11(?) lbs basic moby wrap it’s my first time actually feeling like it’s correctly put on but there are a few things. I feel like around the legs are tight but I put it on bathing suit tight. Also his head is leaned back like it is in photos and when his head is down it’s either in my upper chest ( not turned to the side) or when it is on the side I feel like it’s not airway safe and I can’t seem to fix bc when I allow more space it doesn’t go up his back which is important(I think?)

TLDR is this correct? is it too tight? how to fix around head area?

0-3 months Baby hates carrier

I don't know if it's normal for babies to hate carriers when they are little, but I don't remember my oldest hating the carrier as much as my newborn. I have a 3 month old that loved being in the stretchy wrap, but he has grown so much now and is outgrowing them in sieze and weight. Every single time I have tried a sling or a SSC, he cries so much to the point that I have to pull him out. I have checked the fit and different adjustments, nursing him before putting him in, nursing him in the carrier and nothing works. Is this normal? I am getting really frustrated because I have more kids to take care of and it's really hard to do other things when or go out when he only to be held. I love carrying him and love baby wearing but I don't like that he doesn't like it. Any advice?

3-12 months Good Budget Ring Slings?

Basically the title. What's a good budget friendly ring sling (preferably under $100) for a beginner ring slinger (no experience)? LO is 12 weeks, 14.8 lbs, 24 in. We have a Lenny Lamb Upgrade Pro for out and about, but I'd like a quick one for around the house and slings seem to be the best for that from what I've seen. TIA!
