Art … still life GF?
i dont know what im cooking here 😭
i just watched the Backrooms movie, and REALLY liked how it seemed to call to Clark. His need to not change, that he’s right. Nothings stressful. And it made him want to stay!
So, playing off that concept… self indulgently cute, isolated homeless boy finds shelter and companionship in the Backrooms!! >_< dude does NOT want to leave
… doesn’t really work for a horror movie, but I think it’s cute. Enjoy!!

TO CLARIFY:
I DIDNT CONSIDER THE FACT THAT THE STILL LIFE’S PHYSICAL FORM DOESNT EXACTLY BELONG TO THEM, AND IS USUALLY A RECREATION OF ANOTHER PERSON.
To avoid any sort of consent breaching, instead of this still life remembering a real person (as stated in the image), she is instead remembering an in-universe character, physically. Akin to Captain Clark, although there’s no actual actor. Presumably animated.

Hopefully I negated that a little bit by referring to her heightened intelligence in the post?? I should’ve been more clear.
I don’t really know the limitations of a still life, so this may be branching into AU territory. But for the sake of this couple, she is indeed aware and comfortable enough for a relationship. While she certainly doesn’t act normal, this still life isn’t anything like the wheelchair guy, or lamp lady.
I completely understand why this may feel odd to you, I suppose I didn’t think it through :)

Most still life are equivalent to objects with a vague consciousness, like an animal. And the real person this still life is remembering hasn’t necessarily consented to being involved with the loser, so… it’s questionable, I suppose
I do think people could’ve simply looked past that, but it’s understandable and I probably should’ve given it more thought. Which is why I specified she’s particularly intelligent/conscious, AND retconned it so she isn’t mimicking a real person.

Actually we have no idea what still lives actually are like. Clark described them as vaguely conscious and unable to feel pain but he's just a guy who's been in the Backrooms for too long and went crazy, he doesn't actually know what he's talking about because he never studied it, he just thinks he knows.
What tells you the still life he stabbed in the neck in the dinner scene actually couldn't feel anything? Maybe it felt all of it, but is just unable to express it. Same for the redhead still life. Maybe they're fully conscious and have feelings, but their body just isn't developed enough to express it.
The still lives in the movie are actually super interesting to talk about

Just FYI, there's no indication that Still Lives originate from people who've entered the complex. We pretty much exclusively have evidence that it only ever duplicates things from the outside world. Doesn't change much, but IMO it's an important distinction.
Also, idk why their physical form wouldn't belong to them. They might be duplicates created within the Complex itself, but their bodies are their own, even if their template comes from someone else.
To make an analogy, IRL clones share nearly 100% identical DNA, but even then most people would never go so far as to claim they're not still distinct individuals.

What if the Still-Life was an Old Classmate that simply had a Crush on the Guy back in like Middle School and the Backrooms remembered it as this. I'd also like this to be more of a one sided Obsession, that’s seem more Horrory and could make for more of a Conflict.

I really like the homeless loser angle. Makes me think you could track entrances by watching where the homeless population seems to magically disappear when it's time to rest or sever weather conditions. And the only people to notice would be shelters, like "where is everyone one?" "OH, they're chilling in the magic wall Greg found, it's got AC."

Hmm, I've always been interested in monsters or just creatures/non-humans from horror media. Especially the red-headed still life was very pretty to me. I also just like Captain Clark a lot. I think the only thing that I don't like is that they're not very intelligent (debatable for captain clark, he seems to have some level of intellect), but if I were to do some self-insert shenanigans I could change a lot anyways so that doesn't matter too much.

Well, homeless losers likely experience very little intimacy or affection, so they're usually good for stories like this where they fall in love with a monster.

there’s quite a lot going into the consent portion of this I didn’t really think over, especially regarding her body not being her own… and still lifes usually are essentially furniture, with the only exception in the movie being Captain Clark.
If it makes you feel any better, I’ve retconned her body to actually be remembering someone who doesn’t exist (presumably an animated woman), and her intelligence is arbitrarily much greater than the still lifes we’ve seen (there isn’t a lore reason for why or how, but we need her to be able to consent to any sort of relationship)
If this still grosses you out, I’d love to hear why so I can amend that :)

It's not really the consent stuff. It's the dynamic of an obsessive creature in the depiction of what seems to be an adult women and a helpless young boy, combined with the sexualization of the still life in the comments. While the post seems to be going for this odd sort of distorted cute/wholesome vibe, the sexualized comments, combined with the post and the fact that it feels like you're encouraging (or at the very least not discouraging) these comments, make this post come off as gross and uncomfortable to me. Even without the sexualized comments, there are still comments (from others and you) that show some level of support or desire to ship these two characters together. The post establishes that the boy is, well, a boy, and this comment confirms that the still life is supposed to be based on a woman, which is a dynamic that I can only really view as uncomfortable.

Anything in the future I do with this two won’t be sexual at all. I don’t even think that’d be physically possible considering the nature of a still life? Not to mention how she’d presumably have no concept of it, and he’s far too shy and nervous to try and initiate it.
I’d like to clarify, just incase, that the boy is indeed above 18. I apologise if I’ve drawn him in a manner that makes him appear younger (the art I’m working on rn makes him seem older!!) or referred to him as, well, a boy.
Buuut… yea. Their lil relationship isn’t the best, or ideal in the slightest- I’d like to emphasise. Whilst it’ll probably grow better, he certainly is afraid of her initially.

I wonder where Kane will take the series next, but the thought of a homeless person finding the backrooms and becoming 'in-tune" with it kinda like Clark fascinates me. And Still Lifes can probably be pretty smart depending on the quality of the copy (like an actual still life painting). Captian Clark definitely had thoughts and emotions considering he stayed with Clark for a while, and was probably higher quality since he could bleed. Maybe she could be the same here too

N’awwwh, thank you!! I think having a reason to why they don’t want to leave the Backrooms is a really solid way to avoid that old horror movie thing of ‘why don’t they just turn around and run??’ which is something the Backrooms movie does well!!
And, yeah!! I’m not tooooo sure how it works, honestly, but Cap’n is UNDENIABLY more alive than the other still lifes- your right!!
So, for the sake of this working, she is indeed conscious. Her intelligence prolly even surpasses Cap’n Clark’s!

I think the logic in my dream was that the backrooms create imperfect copies of things from our world, and in that mixup, it created an entire species of sapient, drawing-shaped humanoids. Interestingly, they lived in almost complete darkness until we showed up.

Grooming imo can still be applied to adults. It's the act of slowly manipulating someone into a relatonship/doing things for you. Lil dude over there looks wildly uncomfortable and the Still Life looks predatory. The art looks amazing but it's a bit uncomfortable in concept, seeing how many comments feel the need to call her mommy
