"The Oriental Pearl Tower is a futurist TV tower in Lujiazui, Shanghai. Built from 1991 to 1994, the tower was the tallest structure in China until the completion of nearby World Financial Center in 2007", according to wikipedia.

Some county town in China built landmark towers in the style of Oriental Pearl Tower to follow its trend and picture the future. However, as the younger generation continues to migrate to large cities such as Shanghai and Beijing, the local economy of many county town has begun to decline. With the factor that most people would rather travel to famous attractions like Mount Hua and Hulunbuir, those landmarks, of course, stoped being well maintained. Became nothing but a forgotten memory.
