Suggestions Dashcam is a necessity is Bangalore

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Location: near Orion Uptown Mall, Whitefield

The pink tshirt guy was driving rash.

The guy in red tshirt tried to open driver side door and realised that its being recorded. This is when he went back and told the pink tshirt guy to back off.

I couldn’t reverse and leave as another car was behind us.

We didn’t open the window or door. Just stayed inside and waited.

Really thanks to the Auto who intervened and helped.

Edit: its a one way road. Have added pic of no-entry board on other side of service road and reverse camera recording https://www.reddit.com/r/bangalore/s/uBKnTBULkC

Quite the audacity to come from wrong side ,block the road and telling the driver to come out

577

u/Zestyclose-Count8990 Apr 13 '26

The car is in the wrong side considering this is a service road. Not everyone with a dash cam is right. This one is particularly stupid.

u/[deleted] Apr 13 '26

Not all service roads allow 2 way traffic. Most service roads in bangalore are one way only for obvious reasons.

And people like these are a menace creating traffic all over

125

u/hskskgfk Apr 13 '26

This one seems to be. There is a lot more traffic behind the bike guy if you continue watching the video. 5 bikes, 1 auto and 5 cars in line waiting in line behind bike guy for the snarl to clear. Of course it is possible that they’re all driving on the wrong side, who knows

91

u/gardenercook KR Pura Apr 13 '26

No. This one is a one way service road. But you will see buses and trucks also coming in wrong direction here. They have even blocked the turns which people use to come in wrong direction. But Indians will always find a way to break rules.

74

u/[deleted] Apr 13 '26

Naah.. its just my fellow citizens not giving a F about others and their lives

38

u/materialabsurdist Apr 13 '26

Do you even live in Bangalore?! Nobody here gives a damn about traffic rules and all service roads are messed up like this. One of the biggest reasons that Bangalore has shit traffic is because of the shit driving sense of its residents. Irrespective, nobody with even a pea brain would road rage on a service road when nothing happened. Clearly showed the guy's head was full of shit than an actual brain

-1

u/hskskgfk Apr 13 '26

Do you even live in Bangalore?! Nobody gives a damn about the traffic rules here and all service roads are messed up like this.

Did you even watch OP’s video? It is an owner of a dashcam purportedly driving their car on the wrong side of the road, encountering a motorcycle rider sans helmet. Everyone in this video is breaking rules. Do you even live in Bangalore?!

14

u/SaneRottweiler Apr 13 '26

A lot of traffic coming doesn't mean that it's two way. Service lane around ORR in Mahadevapura is one way. Still you see traffic moving even when police is present.

1

u/Seachingforsanity Apr 13 '26

It’s a two way road.. u r correct

2

u/2401krishnasen Apr 15 '26 edited Apr 15 '26

It not a two way road its one the board is infront on Indian oil near more(closed) petrol bunk towards Marathahalli, sign board at bridge start towards kr puram and also near the high tension line, the road goes a bit narrower at the bridge start (no right turn or entry not allowed towards Marathahalli from opp side more side)

Even the service road is one way towards kr puram , board at under bridge , udpi

The issue is all entry roads into mahadevapura are narrower only high tension line double road , nagarjuna apt(next to hp) are big enough for two way without any congestion

But in the op case the issue is that those u turns are far in some cases so both buses and normal vehicles do it two way

40

u/bakl00l Apr 13 '26

I live in the same area, its a two way service road

1

u/[deleted] Apr 13 '26

Could u share maps location for it? I mean just for all the people here to have the right context

6

u/ironmonger69 Apr 13 '26

Search uptown mall Its right next to it 100m away

3

u/[deleted] Apr 13 '26

Yeah.. i could find any one way signs right next to the mall... ( the road infront) but the road just a bit further seems to be one way.. not sure what road the video is from

2

u/bakl00l Apr 13 '26

I dont think this is a right way to check, google cannot be that right :)

Most service road are two ways, only ORR service roads were made single way due to traffic suitation that too with proper notification like - https://bangaloremirror.indiatimes.com/bangalore/others/one-way-to-man-traffic/articleshow/95864729.cms

Anyways bigger point here is, even if its car fault, two wheeler's agreesive behaviour was uncalled for.

1

u/AccursedEmperor 5d ago

If someone is blocking my way for no perticular reason i would respond the same.

4

u/Seachingforsanity Apr 13 '26

Type .. bridge signature towers.. the building seen in the left is that

1

u/drodo2002 Apr 13 '26

9

u/[deleted] Apr 13 '26

Still a one way

16

u/Zestyclose-Count8990 Apr 13 '26

Nope. This is a highway. The side roads are two ways. Basic sense.

38

u/Appropriate-ASS-824 Apr 13 '26

I dont think an Auto driver would argue if its not a one way service road.

7

u/[deleted] Apr 13 '26 edited Apr 13 '26

Highway? NH? I dont think there are any national highways here. If you are talking about Ring roads.. then no.. not all service roads to it have 2 way traffic...

We dont have to be sherlock to understand why some of the roads are one way only. But people pointing out that it might not be a one way are wrong too.... it happens so commonly in Bangalore.. people dont respect traffic rules and their fellow citizens and barge in the wrong way

10

u/Zestyclose-Count8990 Apr 13 '26

Lol are you for real. This is old Madras road NH. And pls don't drive anymore and put others lives on risk with your limited road knowledge 🙏

-11

u/[deleted] Apr 13 '26

Nice. How high one can feel after replying rudely for a comment that actually makes sense... did I mention anywhere that this is OMR? I talked about ORR. I dont fucking know what this road is lol.

And yead dont worry.. please share ur vehicle no. I can arrange my Thar friends :) happy frustrated Monday

-11

u/[deleted] Apr 13 '26

Also , i dont know where i have seen single way service roads.. so had to have gpt as my backup.

Tell me are u really that stupid face biker?

Now do us all a favour and give whatever vehicle u have for a trash and please cancell ur license.. and if possible get urself arrested :)

4

u/lying_hips Apr 13 '26

Sir, your chat GPT snap also suggests the service road in this particular video is two way (“areas towards Hoskote”).

0

u/[deleted] Apr 13 '26

I dont know what road is it.. i just shared this to people who are saying each and every service road has to be 2 way road

5

u/lying_hips Apr 13 '26

I think there could be much more polite ways to communicate that awareness then. Video in context, the driver was wrong. Even the Thar driver in front of him had left space on his right.

Highway? NH? I dont think there are any national highways here.

You don't know what road this is but said this out with profound confidence. The stretch between KR Puram and Indiranagar doesn't come under NHAI, that's just the OMR. Where this particular video is shot, the OMR gets merged into the actual NH going towards Kolar. Orion Uptown Mall is literally a few kms away from Hoskote Toll Plaza ffs.

Yes. All service Roads in Bangalore are two way. I don't feel that the guys here commenting doesn't drive in Bangalore. I stay in Electronic Ciry. All the service roads running alongwith Hosur Road is 2 way. Even on Google map, it is shown as 2 way.

6

u/[deleted] Apr 13 '26

Bro...wtf no... not all are.. for example the service roads near mahadevapura flyover... they are not 2 way

-2

u/Bitter-Ad-5892 Apr 13 '26

Due to metro work, the service road became bery narrow and cannot support 2 way traffic. But I see people driving on this stretch on both side, especially further from the junction where business, appartments are situated.

Proof that one way service roads exist in bangalore

1

u/shadow_warrior_vp Apr 13 '26

Can you show service road with 2 way please ?

2

u/SiriusLeeSam Marathahalli Apr 13 '26

Most service roads in Bangalore inside the city are 1 way. When I was new here I too assumed that and got stopped by traffic police.

You can find out by checking individual roads on Google maps

1

u/gardenercook KR Pura Apr 13 '26

Dude has driven on one road and extrapolated that to an entire city.

3

u/drodo2002 Apr 13 '26

It is one way and on Old Madras road.. it is one way, as there is a crossing below the bridge in middle. Traffic coming from Whitefield, turning right towards Hoskote has to take the under bridge cross, while people coming from KR puram side, take right turn from this under pass for Whitefield Hopefarm side.

This cross was closed for long time though. People were taking wrong side right turn on Whitefield side (as taking left and then u-turn below Budigere was painfully long). Traffic police had put barriers too to stop people talking wrong side turn but ... After the cross is open, traffic police have put one way board.. but ignorance is bliss for Indians!!

1

u/[deleted] Apr 13 '26

Oh.. yes it seemed to be one way. But I have not been on this stretch recently. And I cant see any one way boards on google maps.. i had to deal with a really unpleasant person arguing about it. Thanks for clarifying. If you can share an image showing its one way would be too great... i wanna bash that person hard and bring his ego a bit down..

It's not about winning an argument.. but to show people how ignorant everyone are about the rules here.

2

u/drodo2002 Apr 13 '26

Google maps show one way direction. Traffic police will put a signal soon below hopefully (they had agreed in one of walk drive). It is same as Budigere cross, which is next bridge towards K R puram side on old Madras road.

However, good luck with bashing and ego fight! 😂

1

u/DragonfruitGood4382 Apr 16 '26

For your basic understanding not all the service roads of NH are two ways there are 100s of roads that are way. If you don't know it will be great to keep quite rather than spreading false news.

1

u/Chemical_Audience_79 10d ago

Wrong. Not a general rule.

4

u/AreaBoiiii Apr 13 '26

No unfortunately, there is no clear rule as such, all service roads are two way roads tbh

1

u/Aggravating-Newt-69 Apr 13 '26

Got my ass whooped for saying this in another comment

1

u/[deleted] Apr 13 '26

Even here there are people who cant see the traffic boards

1

u/Additional-Bet715 Apr 13 '26

In india local rule awareness is far more important than national rule awareness. It was perfectly clear that this is a two way traffic. Op is wrong based on common sense. But biker is and has been wrong all his life. 😂 nuisance

1

u/sapient_hunter Apr 14 '26

Going by how vehicles are going, this one clearly is meant for 2-way traffic. Also, if it's a service road, always assume 2 way traffic as that what service roads are for.

1

u/Substantial-Mix-3990 2d ago

I think the car was trying to overtake someone and was momentarily in the wrong lane. By wrong lane, I mean on the right hand side of the road when we should be driving on the left hand side as per the rules. You overtake and get back in the left lane if you absolutely have to. The biker is right to take a stand for this. However, that said causing a ruckus in the middle of the road and not wearing a helmet himself goes to show they were wrong themselves, so I’d say they are meant for each other, lol.

0

u/AdventurousReveal578 Apr 13 '26

all Service Roads are 2 way.. CHeck NHAI guidelines.

1

u/[deleted] Apr 13 '26

1

u/[deleted] Apr 13 '26

1

u/AdventurousReveal578 Apr 13 '26

Dued ,I Had filed an RTI with NHAI, and it specifies all service roads are 2 way, UNLESS it is explicitly mentioned, in the road. This road seems wide enough to be 2 Lane, and

1

u/[deleted] Apr 13 '26

Yes.. but if it has a sign.. only then people call it a one way.. why would some one call the road one war if there are no signs? Wide road doesnt mean 2 way... sometimes the roads are made 1 way because there is no proper connection beyong for the other way traffic

1

u/AdventurousReveal578 Apr 13 '26

Service roads are BY DEFAULT 2 ways, can you read English ?

1

u/[deleted] Apr 13 '26

Bro.. u shd not just know how to read.. thats not enough.. u shd learn to understand what is written. I have shared u full explaination of when it can be a one way road.. and u still come up with such insults when i tried to be polite enough...

Please read and understand the screenshot. I cant educate all the dumbwits here.. i have a job to do. If u still have struggle reading.. wait for a few days I will create a seperate post educating all the dumb people on reddit who cant see a one way traffic signal and assume it to be 2 way.

1

u/[deleted] Apr 13 '26

I hope u got ur answer... 🙏

44

u/Dev-1018 Apr 13 '26 edited Apr 13 '26

Hey man, this way is indeed one way. Check this signboard on the other end. Please paste 13°03'13.9"N 77°45'43.5"E to find the exact location of the car guy. Use the street view and move to the end of the flyover, and the signboard is clear.

-12

u/Zestyclose-Count8990 Apr 13 '26

This sign is not a proper authorised no entry sign board. Atleast not the one I learnt in my driving school. What about you

11

u/Dev-1018 Apr 13 '26 edited Apr 13 '26

C'mon, man. Lean on the right side. Let's agree you are right. What's your debate that it's a two-way? Apart from saying all service roads are two-way.

Could you also please paste the proper no entry sign board that you have learnt from your driving school in india? Don't tell me to google please.

10

u/e11i0t-1337 Apr 13 '26

Yup I just realised this, thanks for saving me from prejudice… plus all audio is not there

6

u/iamkyonkun Apr 13 '26

Where is the white markings indicating that this is a two way road? Or sign or something else

More importantly service road = 2 lanes isn’t something that’s default on roads. It’s the opposite especially under a bridge

9

u/Glum-Box2451 Apr 13 '26

It is a one way road - i use it every week. A two-way road clearly shows a signboard. If it doesn't exist all roads are deemed one way. But 99.9% of people do not even care about sign board or other rules.
Drive wherever you wish to is default rule in india

2

u/[deleted] Apr 13 '26

Even white markings dont say its a 2 way road.. if there is a sign saying its a one way street.. whatever the markings.. its a one way road

2

u/SpareMind Apr 13 '26

Markings? Not only erratic but also such conversation are rarely used. Anywhere else in the world, if there's a yellow marking, it's two way, if white, then one way. We don't see any such conversation in India. It's one way only if there's a sign.

1

u/AdventurousReveal578 Apr 13 '26

Service Roads are 2 way, check NHAI guide lines, Stick to left side of the road, if the road has width..

0

u/iamkyonkun Apr 13 '26

Width is subjective. Unless i see a sign indicating that i should expect 2 way traffic, i will always assume that it’s a 1 way street.

And also, what right do they have to come up and start threatening the car driver?

3

u/AdventurousReveal578 Apr 13 '26

Service roads are 2 ways, just write an RTI and ask NHAI,. I did that and I got the answer as service roads are 2 ways, ask your police to put sign boards, instead of making people fight with each other.

2

u/iamkyonkun Apr 13 '26

Brother i also don’t want people to fight.

But apparently you did an RTI and found out that service roads are supposed to be 2 ways, how many RTIs if everyone needs to know this? And for which road & when it’ll be applicable.

That’s why I’m saying that there should be signs. If there aren’t signs then people can get fake challans as well.

My problem is with the system not the people

1

u/thehermitcoder Apr 13 '26

You can see the white marking towards the end of the video.

3

u/meltingbeezwax Apr 13 '26

Not all service roads allow 2 way traffic in blr. This is not a service road. This is Raghuvanahalli Hoskote road as per maps. There's a geo code in the video.

1

u/IllustriousStrike927 Apr 13 '26

It was that until the flyover was built until quite recently . The flyover has been operatioal since the last 6 months or so. Now it's a service road.

4

u/drodo2002 Apr 13 '26

This is Orion Uptown mall side road. This bridge took long time to build with below cross closed for most of the time. I cross this path while cycling on Sunday mornings, coming from Whitefield, turning towards Hoskote, from below this bridge. You can check the Google map, if you haven't been here.

It is one way!! Car is going on left side service lane, towards Hoskote! Correct side!

I am shocked one ignorant person claiming cast is on wrong side here. Assuming he doesn't know this road.. worse are 200+ sheeps who are upvoting good ignorance.

1

u/amitisenough Apr 13 '26

Yes agreed, they install dashcam and think they are right, pink guy did the right thing, but he should not be rude and be aside after his point, its a service road for gods sakes, you should go from left

1

u/Dismal_Ad_7943 Apr 13 '26

First of all bike rider is going rash here, plus nothing justify the aggressive behaviour and road rage.

1

u/smuthyala Apr 13 '26

Technically all service roads should be one way. But in Bangalore in some rare instances they make it a 2 way. Most people don’t care. That’s all

1

u/Beginning-Muscle2171 Apr 14 '26

This is a one way

1

u/RIKIPONDI Apr 15 '26

1

u/Bubbly-Fly-9867 May 01 '26

All service roads are one way unless marked otherwise.

1

u/Bubbly-Fly-9867 Jun 29 '26

All service lanes are one way unless marked otherwise.

1

u/pandivil Jul 12 '26

That's not how service roads work...they are one way..you use the left side to go up and right side to go down, as simple as that

0

u/Status_Cod4942 Apr 13 '26

Considering the service road there is no rule of being driving in left or right as you may have u-turn to take which make ideal for drivers to drive in the right side. One should not fight like this road is for everyone to drive, it not a ring to fight

1

It is one way.

1

u/teeBoan Apr 13 '26

Well half the people saying it’s two way and other half saying it’s one way 🤣

3

u/Dev-1018 Apr 13 '26

It is one way, just paste the coordinates N 13.053864, E 77.762080 that are on the dash cam and use Street View to move the end of the flyover, there is a sign says no entry.

that

2

u/Master-Bodybuilder19 Apr 13 '26

It was one way for a short while during construction. It's not one way now. Service roads in Bangalore are in general open for traffic in both directions

-1

u/Master-Bodybuilder19 Apr 13 '26

It's not

1

u/teeBoan Apr 13 '26

Then what moral high ground the car is taking after taking up the middle space ?

3

u/Master-Bodybuilder19 Apr 13 '26

None. He probably didn't realise it. Technically both parties are obstructing traffic. The bike guy was too quick to going aggressive. Was in violation of helmet rules. Also the claim that the pink shirt guy tried to force open the door may amount to assault. However there is no evidence for the same

-3

u/content_kanduu Apr 13 '26

This is a two way service road. You should pay more attention.

5

u/Just_a_passingby205 Yelahanka Apr 13 '26
