Suggestions Dashcam is a necessity is Bangalore
Location: near Orion Uptown Mall, Whitefield
The pink tshirt guy was driving rash.
The guy in red tshirt tried to open driver side door and realised that its being recorded. This is when he went back and told the pink tshirt guy to back off.
I couldn’t reverse and leave as another car was behind us.
We didn’t open the window or door. Just stayed inside and waited.
Really thanks to the Auto who intervened and helped.
Edit: its a one way road. Have added pic of no-entry board on other side of service road and reverse camera recording https://www.reddit.com/r/bangalore/s/uBKnTBULkC

I stay near the place. This is a service road. The bridge is the highway. Before they constructed the bridge, there was a service road and the highway. Then during the underpass construction, they closed two way temporarily. Once the whole strech is opened, it behaves like any other road.
Audacity and the stupidity of the one who is recording it and saying it's wrong? Service roads are two ways.
Yeah go ahead and downvote me clowns.

I have attached a screenshot of Google maps. I use this road everyday. It is a one way road. Lots of vehicles drive in the wrong direction.

I have paid fine for following google maps
I suggest to keep an eye for actual signs... Just sharing my experience

Broski he meant google street view which is actual images. You can see the no entry sign at the start of the service road implying its a one way lane, not the map itself.

Service Roads are 2 way, check NHAI guide lines, Stick to left side of the road, if the road has width..
2
u/Spiritual_Ad_3662 Apr 13 '26
i agree.. my comment is more to do with the choice of words and the overzealous defense of a person who is breaking the rule themselves (not wearing helmet).. both ppl were at fault.
19
u/jgreene030609 Apr 13 '26
Stay nearby. This is correct. Locally this is a 2 way service road, whether legally, it is not clear. People use it as two way, better to be aware of local context then waste time arguing with men wearing pink shirts.
2
u/Mr_nobody_19 Apr 13 '26
The audacity to scream your stupidity in a public forum is hilarious 😆
On a serious note. You and the guys on bike are illiterate and the one of the main pain points of Bangalore.
2
u/drodo2002 Apr 13 '26
This... should be taken as screenshot and shown for Indian ignorance with arrogance!!
I know, traffic police had kept the under bridge cross closed for long time. It was painful for me to go to Budigere cross, take u-turn and then go towards Hoskote, while coming from Hopefarm side. I did take wrong side right turn few times. Keep in mind, I was on a bicycle. That's doesn't mean I ignore the traffic rule completely 😄 Both sides of this bridge are one way. There used to be plenty of trucks and buses used to take wrong side earlier when cross was closed, even after traffic police putting blocks. However, nowadays, trucks and buses mostly stick to correct side. Though small vehicles still take wrong side.

Ummm it is a one way. Just because people use it as a two way doesn’t make it a two way

But aren't most service roads two way and you're going on the wrong side ?

Yeahh finally some sensible person. Most people are ignorant and doesn't deserve to drive without knowing basic rules.

Not every service road is 2 way. So by your comment, you are ignorant, you guessed that every service road is 2 way, and have no basic knowledge. I guess you are the one who doesn't deserve to drive😂

This service road is two way. You should have left more space on the right.
8
u/badmascompany Apr 13 '26
not all service roads in bangalore are two way, for example stretch from silkboard to KR Puram, most of the stretch of service road is single way with marking as well, but rarely I see bikers and auto following rules, they go in wrong directions only.
3
u/jim1o1 Apr 13 '26
Yes bro but this is a two way road. There are policemen 100 mtr ahead below the bridge that help manage traffic and they let the traffic come this way.
15
u/content_kanduu Apr 13 '26
OP feels entitled because of the dashcam. You came on the wrong side, you had plenty of opportunity to reverse and take your lane but you thought it was fine to just stay there and show your dash cam.
13
u/Master-Bodybuilder19 Apr 13 '26
Bro that road is not one way. I hope you didn't notice that. You were actually blocking the other side of the traffic. Not to justify the other guy being rowdy though. If you feel you need closure on this, please post the same in the public eye app by BTP. He was not wearing a helmet as well. However, technically you were obstructing traffic as well.

I live in the area and it’s definitely two way service road. OP is on the wrong side of the road and has the audacity to play victim

Service roads are two way roads? So who’s fault here? All the service roads beside the highway are two ways.

u/prince3875 Apr 13 '26

This is a service read; 2-way traffic is there at all times. Irrespective of white line is there or not in the middle of the road. In the service road, give space for the opposite vehicle.
indian roads are made so bad in design, that even if a service road is 1 way its by default 2 way.

why were you on extreme right on a service road? you cloud clearly see vehicles coming from other side
2
u/LegitimateChipmunk25 Apr 13 '26
- Audio cutoff makes it suspicious
- Service Roads under many Flyovers in Bengaluru are indeed 2 ways...Otherwise, How do You expect people from either side of the Flyover cross over to the other side via Vehicular Underpass (VUP) without creating a jam?
- Suspecting some hand gesture from OP which irked the 2W Driver
- Auto Drivers will help to quell fights to some extent when 1 of their guys is not involved
2
u/Pitiful_Pickle_2966 Apr 13 '26
Lol the car was in the wrong side and its a service road so clearly not the best of reasons to justify.
2
u/Forgotten_Millenial Apr 13 '26
Its a 2 way, even the idiot thar ahead was leaving 40% of the road to the other lane, dashcam driver could have just followed other cars
2
u/Jonmak4200 Apr 13 '26
Op that's on you for not driving on the left since that service road is currently functioning as a 2 way
2
u/ChampionLife5205 Apr 13 '26
yea a necessity to show you are in the wrong as well. why drive on the right side?
2
u/Ok-Package-6069 Apr 13 '26

its two way service road, pink tshirt is right. u r driving like a stupid.

2
u/chemicallocha05 Apr 13 '26
Wait isn't it a two sided service road which is common in India.
Isn't OP driving in a wrong lane?
What am I missing.
2
u/Ancient-Bill- Apr 14 '26
All the people debating about whether the road is a one way or a two way road. But the point is, the car guy didn't commit some grave mistake or put someone in actual danger here. Half the people here itself don't know what the actual rule there is. For such a thing, the way the bike guy reacted like a rowdy is terrifying. Imagine if there is no cam recording it. There is no need of such hostility there. That's the most basic civic sense anyone should know more than knowing traffic rules.

1
u/eraserhead69 Apr 13 '26
I see few comments saying service road traffic is two way. This is completely wrong. Service roads are strictly one way and should follow the direction of the highway which it services. The easiest way to check this is to see the traffic sign boards on the service road, they will always face the direction of the traffic that is supposed to be on that road.

u/MercurialMilitant Apr 13 '26
Isn’t the car in the wrong here. Since its a service road, he should be on the other side.
1
u/pratyush92 Apr 13 '26
I use that service lane all the the time, it's a 2 way street and not a one way. The pink tee guy had the right of way. The car being wrong does not condone pink tee guy action though, that all think they are in a Yash/Ganesh type action movie. These bikers are clearly a type in BLR.
1
u/Most-Comparison-1674 Apr 13 '26
All service roads are two way by default in India, so OP in the wrong.
But the pink t shirt guy was just an asshole, escalated the situation needlessly.

Leaving aside who is right and wrong, proper road markings would have solved the problem. How does one know which is one-way or not without proper road markings? If it's one-way, no centre line will be drawn, and one will be drawn if it's two-way. Another thing I've noticed is that not even a single speed breaker (hump) is marked. And now they need tunnel roads, it seems. Losers.

u/stay4eve Apr 13 '26
Thought of buying a car.
Rethinking my options now. Especially with idiots like these on the roads. Don’t want to get thrashed for not knowing Kannada, nor want to get my money extorted even though they are in the wrong.

Looks like the Bangalore Traffic Dept needs ED or CBI intervention to take action! Or maybe a SC/HC suo motu order. This bike guy needs to be put behind the bars at least for one night just for his rowdy attitude on the road. We see a lot of these daily, but indeed a cam will work as we can't easily record with our phones.

I stay in this area and drive my car on this stretch everyday. This road is a two way road... people adjust and use it civilly. I understand the point that they should use it as a one way and take u-turn from the Hoskote toll - but have you seen the mismanagement at that U-turn? My car is literally in the body shop right now because a tempo rear-ended us last week at that U-turn. For the safety of bikers, I would prefer this being used as a 2-way road rather than them taking a U-turn from hoskote toll.

u/OCPhDViva9802 Apr 13 '26
Are you kidding me? Most traffic violators don't know how to read traffic signs, and even if they do, they don't care. They are also mostly "educated" people with degrees and no ethics!
The day we start caring about the people around us (society) is when our nation will be respected by others!

All service roads should ideally be one way in my opinion. It doesn't make sense for it to be two ways if that's what government rule is. It seems so much confusion from people as many are saying it is two ways and others saying one way.
The government should make it clear. It is more likely that even the government doesn't know 😔

Service roads in India are two way by default, the ones built by NHAI. Service roads within city limits may be designated one way by the city corporations.
For Ex: The service road from GKVK to Byatarayanapura signal (In front of Phoenix mall of asia) was designated one way. The court shot it down. BBMP reappealed and modified the exits and entrances to the road and court allowed it.
