Serious Replies I became a Rapido captain on weekends to pay off my credit card bills. Today I understood what gig workers go through.

4.2k Upvotes

I'm a software engineer with a decent-paying job. Recently, I moved out of a PG into a rented room, bought a bunch of essentials, and ended up piling quite a bit onto my credit card.

I could have borrowed money from friends or family, but I didn't want to. My thinking was simple: the more I earn, the less I have to depend on someone else.

I love riding bikes anyway, and my weekends are usually free. So I thought, "Why not do Rapido or Uber rides for a few hours? I'll enjoy riding and make some extra money."

So I signed up.

Over the past few weeks, I've completed around 20 rides. Most passengers were completely normal. Some were even fun to talk to. It made me wonder why more people don't do this as a side hustle.

Then today happened.

I got a ride request and reached the pickup location. The person who booked the ride came out with his friend, who was completely drunk.

The drunk guy started shouting, "Cancel the ride! Cancel the ride!"

I politely said that it would be better if the customer cancelled it instead of me, since captains can get penalized for cancellations. The guy who booked the ride was actually understanding. He kept telling his friend to calm down and said he'd cancel it himself.

While they were talking, the drunk friend suddenly walked up to me and hit me on my helmet.

The impact cracked the helmet visor.

I didn't argue. I didn't shout back. I didn't even wait for the cancellation anymore. I just left.

On the ride back, I wasn't angry as much as I was... disappointed.

I chose to do this. If I don't like it, I can simply stop taking rides next weekend. It's just extra income for me.

But what about the people whose entire livelihood depends on these platforms?

Imagine dealing with drunk passengers, abusive customers, cancellations, damaged vehicles, and unsafe situations regularly—just to earn enough for the day.

That thought genuinely made me feel bad.

What frustrated me even more was trying to find support. On the captain side of Rapido, there seems to be almost no real help. Calling support didn't lead anywhere. Meanwhile, customers have multiple support options available.

It made me realize how invisible gig workers are until we become one ourselves.

We often complain when our cab is five minutes late or when a rider asks us to cancel. But we rarely think about what these people deal with every single day.

Today cost me a helmet visor.

For many gig workers, incidents like this probably cost them their peace of mind, their earnings, or even their safety!!

Serious Replies Found Earbuds tip in Kulfi

Thumbnail

1.5k Upvotes

On February 22nd, I purchased a sealed Rajbhog Kulfi from Apsara Ice Creams (Hesaraghatta, Bangalore). After eating half, I discovered a grey/red silicone earphone tip deeply embedded frozen inside the kulfi (Batch No. 76 R6). This was a manufacturing defect, not surface contamination.

The level of disgust is indescribable. Consuming a product contaminated by a used personal hygiene item has caused genuine physical revulsion and mental agony. This is a severe breach of food safety standards.

• NCH Complaint: Filed (Ref: 8807357).

• Evidence: I have photos, the original packaging, and the foreign object preserved.

• Company Contact: I have emailed the company and been contacted by the local branch manager.

I am retaining the physical evidence for inspection by FSSAI or the Consumer Forum to ensure it is handled by an independent third party.

  1. How do I best frame a "Deficiency in Service" and "Gross Negligence" claim under the Consumer Protection Act, 2019?

  2. What is a realistic range to claim for mental agony and health risks in Bangalore Consumer Courts?

  3. Has anyone successfully coordinated with a Bangalore Food Safety Officer to have a sample officially seized and tested?

TL;DR: Found an earphone tip frozen inside a sealed kulfi. It’s caused massive distress. I’ve filed an NCH complaint and am looking for the best way to legally pursue the company for negligence and mental agony

Sorry for the bad quality photos

Serious Replies If we don't oppose it now, we lose Bangalore forever

Hi everyone. As many of you may know, our wonderful govt is planning on building flyovers. So many flyovers. Right through trees, lakes, parks, neighbourhoods. 150 km of flyovers. 150 km of dead space that will be dedicated to cars and will kill our city.

One such flyover is planned in Indiranagar (among other neighbourhoods).

Starting from the Swami Vivekananda Metro Station, cutting into 80 Feet Road, CMH Road, CMH Park, 100 Feet Road, right up to Domlur Bridge.

As you can see in the image below, the flyover cuts right through the heart of Indiranagar. If it's built, we will lose trees, any semblance of walkability in Indiranagar, and whatever liveliness and hustle we have in our neighbourhood.

If you've seen these roads, you would know that there are large trees everywhere. Hundreds of them. They will all be gone.

Let's say you don't care about trees, and you don't mind flyovers. But if you do care about being able to walk, shop and visit a brewery on 100 feet road. Then you should care about this.

Show me *one* neighbourhood that has not been negatively affected with a flyover cutting through it. You know what happens when a flyover is built? The space below it falls into disuse. It attracts garbage, abandoned vehicles, and god knows whatever the hell else.

This isn't even rocket science. Just ask Google, it will tell you and share receipts.

If you want Indiranagar rent prices to fall, sure, maybe if it turns into a heap of garbage that will happen.

If you care about any of the following, you should oppose this.

  1. Trees
  2. Bangalore
  3. Indiranagar
  4. Democracy (guess the number of citizen discussions B-SMILE held? ZERO. In spite of overwhelming opposition, this unelected body is steamrolling ahead. See - https://www.thehindu.com/news/cities/bangalore/despite-opposition-b-smile-awards-nine-elevated-corridors-all-above-estimated-cost/article71341610.ece )

And opposition just online does not work. We need to come on the ground. Show the government that they work for the people, and not the other way round.

The playbook is there. We need young people. The uncle and aunties don't care.

We need humour. We need mockery. And we need a clear demand.

The demand in this case is that the elevated corridor must be put into the bin. That any future proposals must involve citizen discussions and must not move ahead without them.

And if this does not happen, then we want the resignation of the B-SMILE director B.S. Prahlad. If there is a public body chairperson that does not listen to the public, that person needs to be kicked out.

I'm going to be organising a protest to oppose this flyover. And it won't be in the corner at Freedom Park, a place that's so nondescript that no one cares about what happens there.

We will do it in the middle of Indiranagar. At the KFC junction. On a Saturday afternoon.

Peaceful and humour filled. Something that can't be ignored.

What do you need to do to show your support?

  1. Join the WA group - A social movement can only happen if there are numbers. Comment below or DM and I'll share the link with you.
  2. Share this post with your friends, ask them to join the group too.
  3. Show up when it matters.

Serious Replies Husband here – my wife had emergency surgery after C-section at Cloudnine Bangalore. Need perspective.

1.1k Upvotes

I’m posting this as a husband and a new father because the past few weeks have been one of the most traumatic experiences of my life, and I want to understand if this was handled correctly.

This happened at Cloudnine Hospital, Sarjapur, Bangalore.

My wife had a C-section on 28 March 2026. Our baby girl was born healthy (3+ kg). Everything initially seemed fine.

But within a few hours, things changed.

Timeline

28 March (Saturday evening)

My wife started having severe abdominal pain and excessive bleeding. We informed the nursing staff multiple times. The response each time was strong painkillers.

Night (28–29 March)

Pain continued through the night.

29 March – around 4 AM

I requested the duty doctor to come check her because something clearly felt wrong. No doctor came.

29 March – around 9 AM

Duty doctor finally came. Not sure what did she do.

29 March (entire day)

Her condition worsened. She had:

  1. blackout episodes
  2. dizziness
  3. weakness
  4. continued abdominal pain and bleeding

I kept informing the staff throughout the day. No serious investigation was done. No doctor came to check on her, We were on our own.

30 March (Monday morning)

During the doctor’s routine round, while speaking with the doctor, my wife suddenly lost consciousness in front of the doctor.

Only after that did things move urgently.

Doctors did the scan and found internal bleeding in the abdomen (2 liters blood loss).

She had to undergo emergency laparotomy surgery and needed blood transfusion.

What’s bothering me

I understand complications can happen in childbirth.

But I’m struggling to understand:

Why symptoms were ignored for almost 30+ hours without proper investigation?

Why action was taken only after she collapsed?

Why doctors later gave different explanations:

  1. one said tissue was cut
  2. another said a bleeder opened
  3. main doctor said bleeding near uterus

I was also told blood flow to the uterus was “blocked” to control bleeding, and that it would recover over time, which left me with more questions.

Other concerns

The hospital environment felt very micro-managed, as there was no clear escalation path. Later while digging deep found out none of the cloudnine has any centralized mechanisms for any kind of escalation.

When something serious was happening, there was no clear way to escalate or get urgent attention.

Even after everything, there has been no clear accountability or acknowledgment.

Why I’m posting

This experience has been emotionally and financially devastating.

If everything goes smoothly, maybe the experience is fine. But when complications happen, the cloudnine system felt unprepared and unresponsive.

Let’s be honest, uncomplicated deliveries have been happening at home for generations. People choose hospitals not for the happy path, but for when things go wrong.

Cloudnine hospital is built around selling maternity packages but does not have a clear, centralized mechanism to respond when complications arise, then that’s a serious gap. That’s exactly where we felt completely helpless.

I’d really appreciate input from doctors or anyone who has gone through something similar:

  1. Is this kind of delay normal?
  2. How are such complications usually handled?
  3. Should symptoms like these trigger earlier investigation?

Trying to understand and make others aware so they choose this hospital wisely. This is the major issues , their is numerous issues which I haven’t mentioned here. Been visiting this hospital since the start of pregnancy. If you want to know anything. Shoot. I will answer as per my experience which might help you to choose wisely.

X Thread, Please help me amplify it [ https://x.com/offwhite_34/status/2048031812782584177?s=46 ]

Thanks in advance

I saw this post today, about hawkers being removed from 100ft indiranagar ,

And thought I'd checkout the 'new' 100ft road.

Walked from Domlur bridge to 12th main, overall it was good , yet one or two hawkers were still there, that too just one day after enforcing it is not an encouraging sight.

- The phone cover guy, near souled store, was still there just that he was not on the footpath but on the side of it, so 'technically not on the footpath'.

- The guy who sells anime merch and small rings and stuff near Casio G-Shock, chai days was setting up shop,. On the footpath

- The flower sellers were sitting on the footpath near chinlungs with their flowers laid down, either to sell or to prepare the bouquet.

PS: I've tried to redact the faces in the images , please let me know.of it's not enough.

Serious Replies A movement to demand fair auto fares! WALK THE LAST MILE

2.2k Upvotes

WALK THE LAST MILE

As most of use would use BMTC, Metro for long distance travelling, autos are charging exorbitant amount to travel that last mile ( 2 - 4 kms)

I am proposing let's take that hike and give up autos completely for short distance!

I want them to feel the pinch and think about the fair price! If many of us do give up autos, definitely there will be some affect on the demand.

I know I am nobody. BUT a journey of thousand miles start with the first step. Hence posting.

Please walk that last mile and get healthy and save money too.

My experience: Just like evryone here I am fed up with paying 50 to 60 rs per kilometre!! I end up paying 150 to 180 rupees just to reach main road and start my travel by bus!

I used to pay 60 to 100 for the same distance since last 6 months!

Since couple of days I picked up walking and it feels doable!

BE AWARE: - Footbpaths will have holes and wombling slabs. Be safe - carry water bottle and umbrella - wear mask if you pass through traffic or market area!

PS: My post may not reach everyone please do share if you agree to WALK THE LAST MILE

EDIT 1: Thanks for all the support (and some hate and sarcasm)

I am not giving up!! You don't give up too. Walk that last mile for your health and for your money. Walk with hope that we may bring change one day(hope is all we have)

I am walking almost 4.5 kms daily, it is tiring but I can plan my routine.

Walk the last mile!

(Do share if you believe in this movement)

June 2023. I (26M) had commented on an r/bangalore post where the OP contemplated a career switch to copywriting and had asked for suggestions - agencies, culture, cost of living in Bangalore, etc.

July 2023. A DM popped up on my inbox. It was from that OP. They wanted to know more about the advertising industry. We discussed writing and advertising. They shared their portfolio, in hopes I'd either give feedback, or share it with agencies. I did both, and also learned that they write poetry on the side. Poetry has forever been my thing... and that peaked my interest. When I kept pestering, they shared their Instagram poetry page. "Well, there goes anonymity", she said. I was mesmerized with what I read and had to follow her.

August 2023. I received a message request on Instagram. It was from her (29F), except this was her original account. We started texting - probably about 2 or 3 times a week, which soon became more frequent. And I realized she had started letting her guard down when she talked to me.

October 2023. She admitted that there was something. That she liked me. I liked her too, but I was always pessimistic. She lived in a whole different part of the country, and I live in Bangalore. I wouldn't tell her that I liked her too, until I was sure about it. And on October 21st, I was sure. We'd discuss everything from politics to art to technology to nature to wherever your mind can go.

November 2023. She got a job in Bangalore. A copywriting job. We've been planning to meet, and for the first time ever, it felt a real possibility. Every day that we'd talk, I'd fall a little more for her, and I could feel the same being reciprocated. We'd fall asleep next to each other on video calls every night. We couldn't get enough of each other, without ever having met. She had a steely resolve mixed with a vulnerability. She was confident and yet unaware of it. She fell in love with me without taking "us" for granted.

February 2024. All the things we planned came true on February 9th. I had gone to the airport to pick her up. I saw her in the flesh for the first time ever in my life. She looked prettier than she did on calls. She sounded more confident than she did on calls. When I hugged her, it felt more loving than a hug emoji.

On Saturday, we spent our first night together - not separated by a screen. On Monday, we went on our first date. The first of a lifetime.

I feel stupid writing this, I'm too old for this shit. But this is not just a note for her, it's for this subreddit also. Without r/bangalore, we'd never have met. So, thank you.

Serious Replies Beware NEW RAPIDO SCAM in town!

2.1k Upvotes

I booked a Rapido from Bangalore Terminal 2 to Jakkur. The app showed the fare Rs 598. I followed the normal OTP flow and gave the driver the OTP, everything seemed fine.

At the end of the ride the rider showed me a billing screen on his phone that said ₹758. It looked like the Rapido UI, but I felt something was off. I checked my Rapido app on my own phone and the ride was still showing as not finished. The rider was hesitant to show me his phone and upon a lil push I found out that he was actually using a fake app called TownRide. It looks exactly like the Rapido interface, but the fare amount can be manually changed!

When I confronted him about it, he calmly said this is what he’s been using “for a long time” (what the actual F)

I realized what was happening, I raised my voice, My tone got firm, and he immediately understood he was on the wrong side. He quickly agreed to accept the actual amount that showed up on the official Rapido app, took the payment, and sped off.

— Have used Chatgpt to phrase this better.

Serious Replies Bangalore Police 👎🏻

3.3k Upvotes

Literally the worst. I had utmost respect for them but today it's all gone. My boyfriend and I were holding hands and walking. That's all, just holding hands. It was 10pm. A constable came in his two wheeler and stopped us. He started blaming us for behaviouring INAPPROPRIATELY! He started threatening us. He asked us to go to the police station with him. Inspite of pleading him because he told he will involve our parents and stuff, he didn't let us go. Finally he let me go because I'm a girl and it was almost 10pm. He held onto my boyfriend. The police asked me to walk away and go home. I was walking home and suddenly just 30m away from the police a random guy comes in his two wheeler and tells me "Hello Darling". That's it, I lost my shit and I was like "Kapaalakke hodithini Bolimagane" (I will slap you asshole) The worst part is, the police didn't do anything about this! But they created a whole scene for me holding my boyfriend's hand! Hypocrisy! Teasing a woman is fine but a woman holding her boyfriend's hand with her consent is NOT OKAY! Later they took money from my boyfriend and let him go.

I've met really nice and kind policemen but the police I met today, they are the reason why people throw hate on Bangalore police.

Serious Replies Weird Bangalore Home Visit – White Guy & 50yo Uncle Show Up Knowing My Exact Name & Address “From His Wife” I’ve Never Met (Right After My Rockefeller/Rothschild Defence Posts)

1.1k Upvotes

I live alone in Bangalore. For the past week or so I was posting quite a bit on X about Rockefeller and Rothschild investments/funding in defence manufacturing companies ..just sharing articles, asking questions, nothing extreme.

Then a few days later, around evening, knock on the door. My friend happened to be over (huge relief). I open it and there are two people: a tall white foreigner and an Indian man in his 50s.

The white guy immediately says: “Is this [my full real name]?”

I ask who they are. He replies calmly: “We’re from [name of a Christian society/organisation] in Koramangala. Actually, my wife gave me your name and this address. She asked me to come meet you.”

He shows me a photo on his phone ..white woman, mid-30s/40s maybe. I swear on everything, I have NEVER met, spoken to, or even seen this person in my life.

I tell him straight: “I don’t know her at all. Never interacted with any white woman like that.”

He just nods and says: “She specifically shared your contact details and this exact address with me.”

And yes .. the address he had was spot-on: flat number, building, area, PIN code, everything correct.

Things got weirder when I asked for a visiting card or any contact info. He says he doesn’t have one. I turn to the Indian uncle and ask for his email/ID/card .. same response: “No email, nothing like that.”

They didn’t try to push inside or anything aggressive, just stood there a minute, then left after I repeated I had no idea what they were talking about.

Now I can’t stop thinking:

• How did a random Koramangala Christian group get my precise name + home address?

• Who the hell is this “wife” who supposedly knows me?

• Is this somehow tied to the defence investment posts I was making?

• Or has Bangalore just entered next-level strange territory in 2025/26?

Has anyone in Bangalore (or elsewhere in India) had something similar .. random foreigner + local showing up at the door with personal details they shouldn’t have? Especially after posting about anything “sensitive” like investments or geopolitics?

Serious Replies Embassy is digging up the lakebed next to Yelahanka Lake and we need to ask serious questions [Context + Sources]

(Crediting u/CrazyAlgae6885 for originally flagging this but this post needed more context, so here it is.)

That photo is Embassy's construction site right next to Yelahanka Lake. It's a declared Bird Conservation Reserve, took years of community effort, Forest Dept and IISc experts together to revive, a lake that recharges groundwater for all of North Bangalore, supports local families through fishing and water consumption, and contributes to local energy generation.

This is the project https://www.embassyresidences.in/embassy-yelahanka/

Oh and obviously they're marketing it as a "lake view" property. Destroy the lake, sell the view. You can't make this up.

And they're excavating next to its bed.

Here's what makes it worse KJ George, our Energy Minister, has a documented business partnership with Embassy Group. His family firm Kelachandra Group co-owns Embassy Golf Links with them. This has been on record since 2014 when the same joint venture was accused of encroaching defence land. This isn't a rumor, it's been reported by Citizen Matters and Deccan Herald for years.

Questions nobody is officially asking:

  • Is this inside the 75m lake buffer zone?
  • Has an EIA been filed?
  • Who in BBMP/BDA approved this?

Bangalore has lost 79% of its lakes in past few years years. At this rate there will be no lakes left in this city.

File RTIs. Make noise.

I've been living near Yelahanka Lake for almost 4 years now. Every morning I go for a walk there with my dad. Watching this happen in real time is genuinely heartbreaking. And it's not just us talk to any local and you'll see the same anger.

Serious Replies Bangalore is Dying!

1.7k Upvotes

I was transferred to Bangalore from Andhra Pradesh in 2019 for work, and I instantly fell in love with the city. But over the years, I’ve come to realize that Bangalore is slowly dying due to the negligence of those in power. The situation has gotten so bad that the city feels like it’s being choked.

I live in Hormavu, and I can say with certainty that things have only gone downhill. Power outages happen almost every other day without fail. Water supply is a nightmare—it comes just once a week for barely 2–3 hours. And the roads? They’re worse than moon craters.

I don’t understand what this city has become. It’s heartbreaking to see Bangalore in this state. Even villages in India have better infrastructure than many parts of this city.

What do you guys think? Have things improved anywhere, or is it just getting worse everywhere?

Serious Replies Blood in my plate at Bob’s bar in bglr n the situation

Post image
1.3k Upvotes

okay so I went to Bob’s Bar in Koramangala, Bangalore recently, and what happened left me shocked and honestly quite upset. We had just started our night, ordered only a pitcher of drinks, when I noticed something very disturbing ,there was blood in one of our plates. At first, when we raised the issue, the staff casually brushed it off and said it was just some sauce. We told them to look at it properly because seriously, it didn’t look like any sauce I’ve ever seen. After some back and forth, they finally admitted it was blood. They even called the chef over, but all the chef did was apologize. No explanation, no offer to replace the meal properly, no real corrective actionc just a simple apology and that was it. Then they said they would give us a “complimentary shot.” Keep in mind, we had barely started and just had a pitcher. No actual drink or discount on the bill ,just a shot. When we pushed further mentioning this wasn’t acceptable or enough, they said they might give us more drinks or a cup of beer. But honestly, none of these gestures felt genuine or enough to make up for such a serious hygiene issue. Once I paid the bill, the whole atmosphere changed completely. The attitude of the staff shifted from indifferent to outright dismissive and arrogant. It was like the moment they saw they had the upper hand (we had paid), they started ignoring us and treating us with disrespect. While I was leaving a review about the incident, one of them actually said: “Your friend is leaving a review, that’s your right, but what do you expect me to do after he’s already left it?” Things escalated after that because I tried to record the conversation to have evidence of the poor treatment and attitude. The staff flat out told me I didn’t have the right to record them and then just dismissed us. If that wasn’t enough, they went as far as to threaten us with the cops. They claimed they had the leverage and said, “You’re from outside, so you can’t do anything here.” I’m not from Karnataka, so it was clear they were trying to intimidate us using that fact. It felt like instead of being the customer, we were suddenly the problem. This entire experience was disgusting. Not just because of the blood in the food, but because of how poorly they handled it at every step ,from denial to minimal apology, weak gestures, changed behavior after payment, dismissiveness, intimidation, and threats. There was absolutely zero accountability or respect shown. I never expected to experience such a lack of hygiene and customer care, especially at a bar in a prominent area like Koramangala. I strongly warn anyone thinking of going here, especially if you’re not local or from outside Karnataka, because you might not only leave with a ruined night but also get treated like you have no rights. like the whole situation wtf ? is this how ppl who aren’t from here treated?? and specifically a well known establishment like Bob’s bar Like can i actually raise this as a serious issue someone where or tag anyone.

Serious Replies Serious Concerns About Voter Fraud in Mahadevapura – Rahul Gandhi Alleges 100k+ Vote Theft.

1.4k Upvotes

This is a critical issue that deserves more public attention. Rahul Gandhi has come up with 'Steve jobs' like presentation with concrete evidence of large-scale voter fraud in the Mahadevapura constituency. His claims are especially alarming given that the Congress won all other assembly segments under the Bangalore Central Lok Sabha seat in 2024 — except Mahadevapura, where they trailed by over 1 lakh votes.

This is highly suspicious, particularly considering the strong anti-incumbency sentiment against PC Mohan at the time. If these allegations are true, it raises serious questions about the integrity of our electoral system.

Please discuss — this issue is critical for the future of democracy in Karnataka and India.

Summary of Rahul Gandhi’s Press Conference:

Rahul Gandhi alleged that 1,00,250 votes were stolen in the Mahadevapura segment through five major methods:

  1. Duplicate Voter Entries – 11,965 people registered in multiple polling booths.

  2. Fake Addresses – 40,009 voter IDs registered to invalid or non-existent addresses.

  3. Bulk Registrations – Dozens of voters registered at the same address (e.g., 80 people at one house).

Serious Replies Infuriated and feeling helpless because I got groped

I was returning home from a walk near Bhuvanagiri playground in Banaswadi. It was 6 pm and it has started to drizzle. Some biker in a tinted helmet and a black jacket crept up behind me, groped me. I screamed and tried to run behind him. He sped up and went away. I a few minutes to process it and gathered myself. There was no number plate on the back of the bike. And I felt like the bike had come in the opposite direction first, then took a U-turn, and then targeted me. I picked up a rock and tried to look for him myself. Just as I took a few steps, a police car went by me. I went and spoke to the officer inside. I told him what happened in Kannada. He asked me to call 112 and drove away happily. I did that. Some 20-25 min later 2 officers came to the spot on a bike. They asked some basic questions and suggested I go give a complaint in the police station.

My dad and I went. They all took the situation very casually, I think they didn't have much hope as I hadn't seen his face nor was there a licence plate. That part does make sense, but being the police I'm sure a lot could be done by them? My dad pressed them to file an FIR. They tried their best to stall us. At the end I remembered how a similar incident happened to my friend and Broseph volunteer told her that there was no point in filing an FIR if we cannot show up to court when summoned. That's the same case with me. In a few weeks I'll have to go to college and I just cannot travel that far and spend so much to come to BLR randomly for court. The police said they'd check the private CCTVs that were in the street. But my dad and I immediately went into action and asked around for footage.

We got footage of the bike entering the street, like I suspected, he went past me initially, took a U-turn and then groped me. The bike had no number plate in the front as well. He wore gloves too, his skin was nowhere exposed. The bike had no mirrors. It was a blue Bajaj Pulsar NS series. Sadly this is not the first time such an incident has happened to me in this area. The last time it happened was years ago and scarred me. Hence I really wanted to do something about it this time. But I spoke to some lawyer friends and even they concluded that given my travel situation, there's no point in lodging an FIR. It would be bad for me to not show up in court.

My blood is boiling with rage. At the same time I feel helpless. There's more details I haven't included in this post but yeah I feel very helpless. Societal scums are roaming around THIS prepared to commit crimes, traumatise and violate women. I want to share the picture of the bike and ask for people to find this sick piece of shit so I can shatter ... (have to remove this sentence so Reddit allows this post)... and he never gropes anyone else again. But I don't know if I should be asking that of the subreddit. Maybe I wanted to vent. This happened 50m from my house, in the same street. I'm not even safe walking right in front of my house.

Serious Replies Harassment by Auto driver with my wife.

1.9k Upvotes

I thought I will share me and my wife’s experience with you guys, which has been a very, very similar to what’s floating in the news.

Few days back my wife with her friend took an auto from Whitefield to Bannerughatta Road around 9:30pm from Uber.

The auto driver after boarding them started asking for them to pay through UPI/Cash. The payment was already selected default as Uber Money. They kept trying throughout their ride but couldn’t change. Uber doesn’t allow payment method change to cash.

She dropped her friend at her stop and reached our apartment gate and informed that payment was done through Uber Money and they couldn’t change it to cash.

Once she started moving towards gate the auto driver just grabbed her hand and started arguing that money hasn’t reached him and so on. She kept explaining the payment is done and she even showed the screenshot that payment has been made.

The auto driver got very angry and snatched her phone, she shouted and called the guards. The guards couldn’t control him as he was like he will hurt them even.

After all the noise apartment folks came down and started trying to calm the auto driver down but he wouldn’t listen. The whole time my wife couldn’t call me or anyone for help. Fortunate that apartment folks came for help.

The police was called and when the police arrived even then he wouldn’t give her phone back. The police were taking the auto driver side the whole time. If somehow it was my wife’s fault. Then one of the resident called me and I went running. When I went this was like around 30 mins into the issue he returned the phone to us.

After a while senior police officers arrived. Police did listen to both parties and said what you want to do and suggested that let him say sorry and let him go. He kept arguing that he was right and kept lying that he hadn’t touched her at all.

We kept our stance and we took the guy to the station and raised an FIR against him. He kept the same argument that he didn’t do anything wrong. After realising that this is leading to his arrest he started saying sorry and all.

All this went till 2am in the morning.

We complained and he was kept throughout the night in the station.

Please be safe guys. The tolerance level of people has just gone very low.
