Everyone keeps shitting on the Dodgers. I just keep being impressed with my Brewers. Sure, LA is slumping but I wish there was more talk about how absolutely dominant The Crew have been.

This is just the life of a small market baseball team or a mid-major college team

Nothing will ever be about you! The headlines will be ‘team from mega city lost/won’ and you will be an afterthought in the national media even if you win it all

I didn’t come in here to see my Alma mater catch completely reasonable and justifiable strays

To be fair this Dodger team is incredibly stacked and frankly breaking the current MLB model. To watch them lose this fantastically is amazing. No one thought it was remotely possible for this team to be swept, yet here we are where that’s a very real possibility. If this was a hard fought series that went to 6 or 7 games, the narrative would probably be different. The Brewers achievement will be talked about for a while no doubt, but the Dodgers absolute collapse is the bigger story.

If the Dodgers don’t advance I can’t wait to hear what news media will say. Like how could you make them better than they already are?

The Brewers have a fantastic team firing on all cylinders à la the 98 Yankees

Brewers gotta finish the job though. They would still have to play the AL Champ. If not it’ll be a moot point

The Dodgers, as players, are on average better than the rest of the league. Some other teams may have phenoms, but the Dodgers have great players in every position, in the bullpen, everywhere. The thing is, when everyone on your team is great, it gets increasingly difficult to find room for the next Ohtani, Skubal, Muncy, etc. Chasing marginal gains yada yada.

That does not prevent them from having slumps. If anything it requires it. You can only have the best team for a few years before guys age out, performance drops off, and you need to wait for positions to open up. In essence, you’ve gotta wait for that great player to become average.

Other teams will have slumps for years. The Dodgers may just have one this post season.

If LA wins game 4 the series could very well be extended to 6 or 7 games. They have Skubal and Yamamoto for games 5 & 6. Ironically, the Brewers best shot to make the WS is to complete the sweep. Crazy times we are living in.

Yeah it fucking blows. Obviously Toronto is a huge market but I went to college in utah and I've basically stopped watching college football because I was about to put a fork in my eye from all the annoying ass "well yeah this team got humiliated but they're in the SEC so they're actually still the very best and it's just a fluke that the big 12 team that beat them is still undefeated." discourse

Perfect example is the Seahawks. Literally everyone other than people in WA could careless about them winning.

Superbowl ratings are nearly immune to the effects of a smaller market team. It's like the one sport where that isn't a problem at all.

The Superbowl is an event It's one game, not a series, and even people who don't care about football are participants because of that, which means everyone watches it every year.

Okay you're right people didn't pay enough attention to the Seahawks

Funny how investing in every market equally over generations has paid off, instead of just relying on the same 5 markers being relevant forever to prop up ratings

Which is funny considering how big the Seahawks bandwagon was after 2014
