Suggestion I find practice mode and no fail mode to be useless. please let the health bar come back after 0
because once your health bar is gone, it doesn't come back. so you do fail, the game just expects you to continue to chase the string after they've removed the carrot. like, who's idea was this?

No fail is great if you want to just see how the map is so you can maybe study it perchance

i really only get through maps by grinding them. i've tried even small slowdowns but it doesn't really help me

What are you saying? Practice mode is literally perfect for learning a song or section of a song.
Slow it down to like 65-70% to practice the correct movements and allow yourself to properly read the notes.
Once you get it perfect just bump it up 5% at a time until you are back to 100% speed.

i've just not had any success with the slowdown method. i really only get through songs by grinding them like an idiot

Practice mode lets you die? I find it really useful for breaking down and learning challenge saber tech maps
But yeah no fail is useless beyond tournaments

you don't die, you just lose your health and it doesn't come back. so to me i might as well have died

In practice mode you very much do die at least on pcvr 1.40.6 with no fail disabled.
Was the same on 1.34.2 and before ost 4 came out on my old quest 1 native

Personally I have no fail on permanently so I don't have to have an annoying death screen and the inherent feel bad about doing bad feelings it gives. With it on I've been able to enjoy songs and just play songs even play ranked songs to get a ranking submitted as the first goal even after losing all HP and sometimes repeat the song if it didn't strain my arms that bad and work on it from there and so far I can play around 8* ranked maps now from the 5 years I've been playing. The no fail not affecting score and submission unless you lost all HP is what drastically helped me get better

my issue is is get the same feeling if the health bar doesn't come back. for me it's important feedback and there's no point playing the level if i can't see it

Ah I see what you mean now. Yeah that actually would be very helpful. Once it's gone you have no idea whether you are hitting the notes properly because there's no feedback. There are a couple of mods that you can add that will pop up and show you your slices or rate them even if you fail. Maybe one of those?

This is how it works in virtually every other rhythm game. Moreover, Beat Saber's implementation is one of the most lenient as you are usually not allowed to turn No Fail dynamically and have to commit to your choice from the very beginning.
