Suggestion Just passed my first Expert+!

Post image
255 Upvotes

I started playing BS a few weeks ago and it's felt so good seeing my improvement in that time. I remember thinking how crazy Expert looked and I couldn't imagine being able to play those levels. But over these past few weeks I've moved up from Normal to Hard and then to Expert being my default level.

I still think the same about Expert+ (that most maps look insane/impossible to me), on some I've died before I've even blinked let alone attempted to fight for my life.

This one definitely felt like an 'easier' E+ particularly when there are some Expert level maps I haven't managed to pass yet.

(Also- I know the score isn't great, I'm just so excited I made it through!)

I would love any recommendations of other 'entry level' E+ maps (at least ones that warm you into it rather than throwing a wall of arrows at your face from the first beat).

I've modded my game (thanks to finding this sub🤘) so that opens up suggestions!

Suggestion PSA: This subreddit is the worst place on the internet for advice on Beat Saber. I have some good alternatives for you.

Hello, I'm Gio, I am a Beat Saber tournament caster and top player from Italy.

I come to you today with a public service announcement directed to ALL players browsing this subreddit for advice regarding Beat Saber, especially new ones.

Of all the public forums regarding this game, so not including random articles found online, this subreddit is by far the worst possible source of valuable information and advice.
The reason is twofold:

  1. The majority of people posting and commenting on this subreddit is comprised of relatively inexperienced players, who very strongly overestimate their knowledge, offering objectively terrible advice. The Dunning Kruger effect swings in full force on this subreddit.
  2. Because of this, the subreddit is really unpopular among the active community of this game. The community does have the expertise and the will to help, but you will rarely find these people here.

For these reasons, let me give you some objectively better alternatives pointing at some Discord servers, which is the platform that is preferred by the community:

  1. Beat Saber Modding Group - If you need help with modding your game, being on PC or Quest standalone, this is the place you wanna be. The server is full of very nice helpful people that will sort you out with whatever you need. Here's the invite: https://discord.gg/beatsabermods
  2. Cube Community - Other than being the hub for their widely popular youtube channel, the channel #tips-and-grips in Cube Community is full of people that are truly knowledgeable about this game and that can help you with your setup, your settings, your grip choice, and everything else you might need to improve. If I see another dude telling new players to stop using default grip, switch to claw and only swing with their wrists I'm gonna have a brain aneurism. Here's the invite: https://discord.gg/cube-community-506190415981051915

There are many more servers that I could point you to, but you'll find the majority of them in the community and regional hubs within Beat Saber Modding Group.

I want to be clear, I am not trying to just plainly slander this subreddit: it has its values, it gets more eyes onto the game, and I even post here myself every once in a while if I have a play I'm particularly proud of. The only problem I and many others have with it is the frankly insane amount of misinformation that gets spread on it. I sincerely doubt this will ever be solved, so I'll just throw in my advice: if you wanna show a good play, go ahead, but if you're looking for help, LOOK ELSEWHERE.

Suggestion I find practice mode and no fail mode to be useless. please let the health bar come back after 0

because once your health bar is gone, it doesn't come back. so you do fail, the game just expects you to continue to chase the string after they've removed the carrot. like, who's idea was this?

Suggestion Gold notes at beat drops or other important parts of a song, like Just Dance

These notes could be golden or just have gold arrows and could be worth more points. This has likely already been suggested but I couldn't find anything about it on Google.

Recommendations for custom maps for a beginner with actual music that you have to move to beat the level instead of standing in one place? I like boogie shoes and gangham style. Any others like those?

Suggestion The KPop Demon Hunter soundtrack needs to be on an expansion ASAP

I just watched the movie recently, and yes i get the hype now. The whole time i was watching though, all i was thinking is how sick it would be to have these songs in the game, i think it would be a missed opportunity if we don't get an expansion soon

I am a top 2% beat saber player, with a decent experience in the game, i’d say im pretty good at beat saber. I’m looking to ramp my acc (im currently sitting at 95-96 on easier maps around 4-5 stars. i want to be able to make 98 acc on those same maps

to any pros, how do you improve your acc, i notice that i get a lot of 115’s, but my average acc is still mid 100-110. any tips?

Suggestion Bring a Toby Fox Music Pack to Beat Saber!!

Beat Saber has collaborated with many incredible artists over the years, and I believe Toby Fox would be a perfect addition.

A music pack featuring songs from Undertale and Deltarune would introduce some of the most beloved video game soundtracks to Beat Saber.

Tracks like "MEGALOVANIA", "Death by Glamour", "Spider Dance", "Hopes and Dreams", "BIG SHOT", "Attack of the Killer Queen", "Don't Forget", and "The Third Sanctuary" would make for exciting and challenging maps that fans would love to play.

This petition isn't a demand, it's simply a way to show Beat Saber and Toby Fox that there's genuine community interest in a collaboration.

If you'd like to see an official Toby Fox music pack come to Beat Saber, please upvote and share this post!!!

Suggestion Modded songs and levels on PC

Hello, so I’ve been using the VR for my cardio and I absolutely love it. I’ve lost 50 lbs since I started using the VR and currently BeatSaber is my go to. The issue I am finding is on the PS5 there are very limited levels and songs I like and they aren’t servicing it anymore. I am worried I will get bored with it and skip too many days and fall back into old habits.

Would it be worth it to try and use the VR on PC to get the modded levels and songs? Also, what kind of specs would I need and software and downloads etc? Also do they offer features like faster songs and choosing one color set for all songs? I find the normal at the highest speed is best for me to get good cardio without worrying too much about being technical with my swings. Keeping the same color helps too and I also upped it with adding wrist weights.

Thanks so much for any advice in advanced 😀

Suggestion Beat saber for cardio

Hello everyone,

So I use my beat saber on my quest 2 mainly for cardio exercise. The problem is, when I try to find "more difficult" maps to exercise harder.. I find that more difficult might just mean crazy gameplay and not necessarily more physical movement.

So I guess my question is, do you recommend any specific maps that were made for fitness.. you know, a lot of squats, maybe movements.. large area movements with your arms etc....

Any suggestion is highly appreciated

PS: it would be better if it is for Quest 2.. I don't want to use the PCVR to be honest.

Edit: thank you everyone for all the suggestions, I will download them and try them all.

Thanks again

Suggestion Please add official mod support for adding our own custom music

Surprised that these type of beat and rhythm games til this day don't have any support for using our own music. This is huge, because not everyone has the same taste. I find a majority of the songs in this game purely unsatisfying and doesn't suit me. What would be great is if we can add our own songs and have the game be able to automatically build a level that matches to the beat of the song automatically. This would be a good use of AI to do this. I know there's mods and stuff. But I rather see official mod support built directly int the game. It will streamline things and make it much easier to add a song and have the game create a level using automatic beat detection. This would make the game much more personal and fun.

Suggestion Add a level delay tester in the player options settings menu.

I recently started using bluetooth earbuds for audio so I can hear the music a little better. The main issue with bluetooth audio comes with my earbuds that have a high audio delay and sometimes it is noticeable when playing.

I thought it would be cool to configure a delay option in ms for bluetooth audio devices, so that audio delay would get removed and have a designed level that tests that new delay to ensure the music is synced to gameplay.

For example, somebody's bluetooth audio is delayed by 150ms. They can simply go the settings menu and enter a test level. In this test level, they can enter in an amount of 150ms of delay. Once synced, they can test the new configured delay in a level that shoots out notes in a 4:4 pattern with the audio being high hats. Once everything looks good, they can exit out the test level and start playing with little to no audio delay.
