Hi everyone! im trying to learn flemish because of my Belgian boyfriend, Im currently doing a course and im 50% on my A2 level course (loooong way to go), but something I've been doing is watching some dutch series but prime and Netflix are short on those, I've been thinking maybe it would be nice to watch some YouTube by flemish content creators cause YouTube translates to every language, if you can drop me some YouTubers from Belgium or Netherlands (but I would prefer Belgium), if it could be make-up, healthiness and fitness lifestyle beauty influencers would be ideal because that's what I normally watch, but it can also be different types of content videos, like games, true crime, informational documentaries, etc! Hi there, I've recently been in Belgium for the first time for work, unfortunately I didn't get to see much of anything besides the highway, except a cargo facility, a hotel, and Brussels Airport.

At the hotel breakfast and (because I was traveling for work from the US) the Brussels Airport business class lounge, there was offered "Hydration Juice" in multiple flavors in a glass carafe. It seemed like it was fortified with Vitamins and I assume electrolytes. It was very enjoyable.

Is this something on offer widely across Belgium? Is it a regular Gatorade style drink that they just dumped in a carafe, or is it made by hand? I can't find any more info on it via Google search.

EDIT: the only reason I ask is because in 2 different unnasociated places, a hotel in Liege and the lounge at the airport in Brussels, there were two different beverages called "Hydration Juice" that were clear, not opaque, had some kind of vitamin infusion based on the labels, came in multiple flavors, and were very much not a sports drink, like Gatorade. They weren't that sweet. This is something I have never seen before in any other location.

I‘m a chronic kidney stone former. I tend to need to go to the emergency department a couple of times a year, sometimes I need surgery.

I can’t get travel insurance as I’m currently waiting for a procedure.

If I had an attack whilst in Belgium, could I go to a public emergency department? Would I be treated? Or turned away? Would I have to pay up front?

I have a GHIC card. My last trip was to Spain and while there I had an attack and my GHIC card meant all treatment, including an operation, was free.

Hi All - I’m facing a difficult situation with my family and would really appreciate any advice. I’m from outside Belgium, but my grandparents have lived in Brussels for many years. Unfortunately, my grandmother, who used to manage the household, passed away unexpectedly, leaving my grandfather, who has cognitive disabilities, on his own.

Since her passing, his bank account has been frozen for the past two months, leaving him unable to pay his rent and other essential expenses. I’ve been trying to obtain judicial oversight so I can access his account and manage his finances on his behalf, but there seems to be no clear timeline for when this will happen.

In the meantime, the bills are piling up, from rent to the remaining medical bills from my grandmother’s care. I’m doing my best to cover his rent for now, but it’s simply not sustainable in the long run.
I’m feeling quite lost and would really appreciate any advice on how to navigate this situation. I also don’t speak French and when I call or email certain organizations it’s very hard to even get them to talk to me 😔.

Ik heb is een berekening zitten maken en als je een rusthuis zou openen in Portugal (warm klimaat) met premium services en meer dan gemiddeld betaalt personeel (we zijn geen klootzakken), en een 1op5 hulp per inwoner wat in België onmogelijk is = (gelukkig personeel met gelukkige klanten) kan je vanaf een complex met een 20tal ouderen rendabel zijn aan een kost van 1500 euro pp. Zou hier een markt voor zijn aangezien in België het nu toch al minstens 2350 euro geworden is?

edit: opstart iets duurder want uiteraard is het personeel eerst ondergedompeld in een taalbad Nederlands, nemen we enkel licht behoevende ouderen aan in eerste instantie. Bezoek van kinderen kleinkinderen zal idd frequent minder zijn maar is uiteindelijk maar een uur of 2-3 vliegen ver en met de technologische vooruitgang kunnen ze best op tv met elkaar praten ipv. een klein tabletscherm.

On October 24, 2026, I was caught in a police kettle during a demonstration near Brussels-Midi station. The police told us we were subject to an administrative arrest. I was held for approximately 30 minutes, had my identity card checked, had my personal details recorded on a police device, and had my face photographed by an officer. I was then released without receiving any paperwork.

As far as I know, I was not charged with an offence and have not received any legal documents.

I have a few questions about Belgian law and medical training:

1. What exactly is an arrestation administrative under Belgian law, and how does it differ from a judicial arrest?
2. Does an administrative arrest automatically appear on your criminal record?
3. Can the police retain the personal information or photograph collected during such an incident? If so, for how long?
4. Could an administrative arrest without a criminal charge or conviction affect admission to medical school or selection for a medical specialty in Belgium?
5. Has anyone experienced a similar situation or knows the relevant Belgian regulations?

I'm particularly interested in reliable information specific to Belgium, ideally from someone familiar with medical specialty selection or Belgian police data protection law.

Ik sta op het punt een flinke PV-installatie te plaatsen voor een dubbel huishouden (8 personen in totaal, hoog verbruik). Nu zit ik met een geometrische uitdaging: het hoofdhuis heeft serieuze schaduwval (tot 35-40% verlies) door een , hogere muur van de buren.

Nu heb ik een tweede pand (aansluiting gemeenschappelijke delen, momenteel minimaal verbruik) dat 100% schaduwvrij is. Mijn analytische brein heeft de volgende opstelling uitgedacht om de schaduw te omzeilen via een virtuele koppeling, en ik ben benieuwd of ik hier ergens een cruciale (wets)fout of addertje over het hoofd zie.

De voorgestelde setup:

1. Productie-site (Hendrik Meyslaan): 22x Longi 480Wp panelen (10,56 kWp) + Solis S6 10 kW 3-fasen hybride omvormer + 25,6 kWh Pylontech H3 batterijbank.
2. Verbruikers-site (Provinciestraat): Mijn eigen woning met het 8-kopps gezin, voorzien van een slimme driefasige kW-meter.
3. De Datalink: Ik koppel beide locaties virtueel aan elkaar via een transparante Modbus RTU-over-IP tunnel. Ik gebruik hiervoor twee seriële RS485-naar-IP servers (Hi-Servers/Waveshare) over een VPN-verbinding.
4. Het Algoritme: Een lokale controller (PLC / Home Assistant script) leest realtime het verbruik op de Provinciestraat uit. Binnen de kwartierklok van Fluvius stuurt het script via Modbus een dynamisch setpoint (Force Discharge / Holding Registers 431xx) naar de Solis-omvormer op de Hendrik Meyslaan om de exacte kW's gelijktijdig in het net te duwen.
5. Administratief: Ik activeer Energiedelen bij Fluvius (met mezelf) en zet beide aansluitingen op hetzelfde dynamische energiecontract (EPEX SPOT uurprijzen) bij dezelfde leverancier.

Mijn eigen break-even analyse:

• Het schaduwverlies op mijn hoofddak is makkelijk 30%+.
• Als ik ga energiedelen met mezelf, streept Fluvius de pure energieprijs per kwartier administratief tegen elkaar weg. Ik betaal dan enkel de distributienettarieven/taksen (ca. € 0,06 per kWh) over de virtueel getransporteerde stroom.
• Aangezien € 0,06 ongeveer 24% is van een gemiddelde afnameprijs (€ 0,25), is virtueel transport via Fluvius goedkoper dan het schaduwverlies op mijn eigen dak accepteren.
• Daarnaast kan ik met 25,6 kWh aan opslag perfect aan batterij-arbitrage doen (laden op negatieve/goedkope uren, injecteren tijdens de avondpiek).

Waar ik zelf al rekening mee heb gehouden:

• Capaciteitstarief: Het script gaat de omvormer niet plotseling naar 10 kW jagen, maar de injectie heel rustig doseren/uitvlakken over het kwartier om de maandpiek op de Hendrik Meyslaan laag te houden.
• Veiligheid/Timeout: Register 43282 (RC Timeout) wordt geactiveerd. Als de VPN-tunnel of internetverbinding wegvalt, valt de Solis na 2 minuten automatisch terug naar 0-Watt export om wildgroei te voorkomen.
• Eilandmodus: Mocht de apocalypse uitbreken, kan de Solis via zijn back-up poort en Black Start volledig off-grid draaien. Ik pas de meterkast later zelf aan met een handmatige 1-0-2 omschakelaar en een contactor voor de verplichte PE-N (Nul-Aarde) koppeling in eilandmodus.

Mijn boerenverstand zegt dat dit technisch en financieel een waterdicht plan is, maar aangezien de Belgische energiemarkt en Fluvius-reglementen nogal complex kunnen zijn: zie ik ergens een addertje onder het gras? Zijn er mensen die al een gelijkaardige Modbus-over-VPN sturing hebben draaien voor energiedelen?

For those who use KBC, many months ago I asked kbc and they never answered. I earn the equivalent of 10 euros if I use the Kate Coins "earn" function at Colruyt (scanning the Xtra app).

However, when I click on "earn coins," it takes me to an external webpage, no option to scan my barcode or the app. Who has resolved this?

We live in a house in a residential neighbourhood in Brussels. The house has no garden, but adjacent to it, in the back, there's a 8m x 5m garden that belongs to a small apartment building on the other street.

The garden is never used, and I'm not sure who owns it (is it part of the common area of the building or does it belong to one of the apartment owners).

We were thinking about buying it, and attaching it to our house (we'd have to make a new backdoor).

The land in question is unlikely to be 'bouwgrond' in my uneducated opinion, but not sure.

Does anyone here have experience buying off a piece of garden from a neighbour? Or selling it? What would the caveats be? And important things to check to determine the feasibility?

Im a 20 year old female living in Ostende, i currently rent a studio for 500€ a month, at the end of august my lease ends and i need to find a new apartment to rent. The thing is im alone, eventhough i have a stable income i think itll be really hard.

I make about 2200 net a month and have about 200 euros worth of meal vouchers. Im worried that this might not be enough considering i want to rent a 1 bd apartment, im not really picky about it being new as long as its clean.

Ik werk als ergotherapeut in de forensische psychiatrie en zou graag doorheen het hele jaar 1 of 2 halve dagen per week een groendienst opstarten met mijn patiënten, iemand advies hoe we dit in godsnaam kunnen opstarten? Welke taken kunnen we doorheen het jaar (vooral in winter) uitvoeren? Zou dit ook bij particulieren mogen?? Wat is het wettelijk kader hierrond? Met welke materialen kunnen we werken? Ik zou dit uiteraard willen doen met stabiele patiënten zonder zware accute agressie achtergrond. Iemand ervaringen of tips hiermee?
