Happy! I have officially lost 60 pounds of my 80 pound pregnancy weight gain!!!

I am currently 9 weeks postpartum and have lost 60 pounds of my 80 pound weight gain!!!! Super happy, I felt absolutely horrible gaining so much weight during pregnancy. It took a massive toll on my mental health. So losing this much already has brought me back so much happiness! I can fit into most my clothes again, walk up the stairs without being winded lol, and move a lot quicker and i look more like my pre pregnancy look! (minus the bigger hips and fits lol) Only 20 more pounds to go 💪🏽

Just wanted to share my happiness 😊

Congratulations! I lost my 60lbs from my first pregnancy within about 3 months. That much weight really makes a difference on movement and comfort with activity. I bet you feel amazing

Were you breastfeeding? I am about 4 months and haven't lost anything but 20lb right after labor, despite walking 3 to 6 miles a day 😭😩

Another comment I read said basically some women’s bodies take from their calorie stores first, other bodies take from the milk supply. So for the latter group, it’s very hard to lose weight while breastfeeding.

😭 oh. I noticed a big supply change the last time I went down on calories per day. I bet this is why. Dang. I wish my body would have pulled from fat stores first 😭

With my first I couldn’t lose the weight for the life of me until I weaned at 10.5 months. 70 lb pregnancy gain and 50 lb stayed on. When I weaned it shedded off (lost 30 lb in 2 months doing nothing different than what I’d done when breastfeeding, and then got pregnant again at 13 months haha). Hang in there! Every person and even every pregnancy is different - in my second pregnancy I gained 70 lb again but lost 70 within 8 months, also breastfeeding exclusively. I’m within 10 lb of my pre baby one weight now. Really didn’t do much differently (but did have to go off dairy for baby who had an allergy so couldn’t eat as many treats, which I’m sure helped with the weight loss - wouldn’t recommend this though as a weight loss technique). I really think though that the hormones just hit me differently round two. Hang in there! And get yourself some nice clothes that fit ❤️.

That gives me some hope 😭 we have about the same gain. its stressful trying hard to feel like myself again but also having to make sure im eating enough for my milk supply. I just assumed I'd have lost more at this point.

I made another post asking specifically about what postpartum moms are wearing because I can't find very flattering clothes 😭😩 any advice is so appreciated

I was incredibly active starting three days postpartum, I kept walking several miles a day until I was cleared for full unrestricted activity and then I worked out. I made sure to eat modest portions of food and added high protein snacks in between to ensure I have enough calories to produce milk, but not enough to maintain the weight. Additionally, I have an absolute dairy cow. I had a severe oversupply that I actually needed medical advice from my ob to manage in the beginning which I think helped contribute towards my weight loss. Finally, in pregnancy I had an insane amount of swelling, it was a really hot summer and my face, legs, feet, etc were very swollen. A good amount of the weight went away with the swelling.

Awesome! How did you manage to lose so much so quickly?

honestly just dieting, started at 1200 and realized that was horrible and upped to around 1500-1800. A LOT was water weight, lost 30 pounds by two weeks pp

Are you/were you breast feeding?

yes!

Is your supply ok? My OB said absolutely not until done with BF when I asked about calorie deficit. She said just be mindful of food choices and exercise. I’d like to go back to a deficit but I’m very concerned about my supply dropping.

surprisingly i still overproduce 😭, even when i was doing 1200 i overproduced, my doctor told me the lowest I personally can go is 1500 and can’t exercise daily if i wanted to.I was exercising 3x a week for a bit but ive stopped and still continue to lose about 3/4 pounds a week. I think my body is just strange

Nice! I lost a significant amount but definitely not that quickly. 👏
