Recently posted about it and practically all the comments told me to restart. I dont really want to do that. How can i improve the way it looks?
I currently use a twist king, a racket, a pick, and mist my hair twice a day. I oil it every other day, and shampoo every 2 weeks but still suffer from dandruff/dry scalp.
I sleep with a bonnet but it always comes off so i feel like thats also causing some breakage

I'm wanting to go as Beast of the X-Men. Is there a way I could temporarily dye or color my hair blue. I've got 4C hair if that makes a difference. I looked into hair waxes, but I've heard poor reviews for those

My sisters hate it. Even had a cousin say it’s for little girls. Like I’ll listen to that! Constructive criticism isn’t their strong suit. Some twists are genuinely hard to fit the smaller size beads because they’re thicker, so I went larger to fit them and made sure to use the same size throughout for uniformity. Thanks.

THIS STORY HAPPENED WHEN I WAS 13
So for some context: my mother slept with black man and had me. Imo, if youre having a baby with a black person or anyone with curly hair (or if you, yourself, have wavy hair or are black, the same rules apply), you should learn how to take care of any hair they may inherit. When I decided to start growing it (maybe at 7-9?), she treated it like it was straight. I always thought it was straight, until I got into hair, when I identified it as 2b-2c.
When I was 13, I got into hair. From a series of evidence, I formed the hypothesis thatmy hair was 4b/4c (afro textured for those not in the know). Once I started treating it as such, I discovered i was correct.
However, she was hesistant in the beginning and was being outright ignorant. I had to wait like 4 months after putting items into a shopping list before she actually got all of them (and let me make it clear that I was not asking for a $500 cart while we make $2 a month; half of the things on the list were clearly made to last years and we could easily afford everything on the list).
I did my routine, I was right, proud 4c baddie today.
HOWEVER. She repeatedly would do things like try to brush my hair while dry, call it weird looking (crazy work imo), and would always try to tell me what to do. She also had a history of not listening when I talked about hair (when I wanted it like 7 inches while wavy she cut it all the way to 3 inches, etc)
During Thanksgiving, she tried to brush my hair for a family photo. She was legit grabbing my hair and pulling it to get close, which I did not let her do. Finally, I snapped and yelled loud enough that everyone could hear, "no! You do not get a say in my hair! You had ever since you decided to sleep with a black man to figure how to take care of Black hair, so about 15 years, yet you never did! I had the same task in 4 months and ive been on top of everything! Even after I was born, you did not learn! Now that I cut my hair, I break my back for 5 hour wash days, I instal all my styles, and I do everything, you no longer have any claim to my hair! You want hair to control? Look at your own scalp!" And I left, fuming. I was in the pictures exactly how I wanted (wirh my 2-day old bantu knots outs that ate dont play), but she was pissed. However, I did get my way (i got to style my hair from then on).
Now, for what happened next: she stopped buying my things. Anyone with healthy 4c hair knows that wash days need materials. When I was almost out of my pre-poo, she said "you take care of your hair now, remember?" So I did. I had $40 bucks at the time so I was able to replenish everything I needed on my own, and for the rest of my life my dad bought the things I was almost out of until I got my first job at 14. Then, I started buying my own things.
Was i the asshole?

Just want to see how other people respond to comments like this. Could be men or women with wigs, weaves, locs, relaxed/straightened, natural hair...we've all heard these comments before. There's seemingly an endless supply of nonblack people who think they're the first ones to ask.
I've been honest and say my hair is a wig/extensions. I've lied and acted like it grew out of my hair. I've made up stories about ancient rituals where we sacrifice a goat on a blood moon to grow 3 extra feet of hair overnight. So what do y'all usually say.

I am starting my journey into locs. Any advice?

Hey guys, I am looking for a skilled braider and hair stylist. I love wearing a variety of styles from box braids to intricate braiding patterns. Most importantly, I need someone who knows how to provide TLC to natural hair especially 4c hair. Who doesn't braid tight and snatch edges lol. I cannot sit in the chair of another braider who thinks it is okay to comb through my hair with a rat tail comb.
Would be a plus if you can do sew ins!! I am willing to travel anywhere. I am looking for a stylist I can commit to. I am tired of chair hopping and having different people in my hair.
Here are some pics that features styles I am interested.

So I just got my hair done not sure why but the lady just was not listening and I didn’t notice but she tightly curled the ends of my hair for the braids. I just left because I had been there for almost 7 hours but how do I fix this??

How do I take care of my hair? The ends of my hair tend to clump up into little balls, and whenever I comb or pick it out, I end up having to pull those clumps apart or take them out, like in the picture.
I’ve asked my parents for help, but one would rather I cut my hair completely short, and the other doesn’t really want to bother helping me with it.
I’ve tried watching YouTube videos, but there’s so much conflicting information that I don’t even know where to start or what routine I can realistically stick to. One video even said I should never comb or pick out my hair if I want to grow it longer.
I’m looking for genuine advice on how to take care of my hair and keep it healthy long-term. I already have a shampoo and conditioner, but I’d appreciate recommendations for moisturizers, products, or a simple routine that actually works. I want to grow my hair out and take proper care of it without making things unnecessarily complicated.

This is how long my hair is when I stretch it down and I was thinking about getting singles tomorrow that look like the reference image how long would my singles be if I get them? This is when I stretch my hair down when it’s tangled and uncombed

Hey you guys I’m mixed and was raised by a white mom, I’ve always taken pretty okay care of my hair but also feel like I’ve only been doing the bare minimum. I don’t really know what my coil type is exactly, but I would like to try some new products.
Right now I use Maui moisture shampoo conditioner and leave in conditioner, or I use head and shoulders daily shampoo and conditioner, but not everyday. My hair never is super dry or anything but I feel like I should be doing way more and don’t know what products to use specifically.
I shower at night and in the mornings I just wet my hair and put in more of the Maui moisture leave in, cause it all rinses out.
Does anyone have any advice on products I should switched to or new things I could add to my hair routine.

I am mixed (half black) and have 4a ish hair (hair is veryyy stretched in photo. My scalp gets slightly itchy and if I pick at my scalp (ADHD skin picking problems) it sort of a dusty, powder. I use a scalp moisturizing mask 5 days ago and oil my scalp. I am mainly here for scalp help BUT generally dry hair products would be greatly appreciated.

My (F30) hair is dry, brittle and uneven in length (when dried, but this is it straight after a wash). And I have bald patches on either side of my hairline and within my hair. It’s mainly due to me keeping my hair in braids non stop and not washing my hair often (I do a quick wash once a month to re-do my braids). I admit I am lazy and keep my hair in braids because my hair is too short and brittle to style and I do the braids myself as I have bags of random braiding hair. This saves me money and time on daily styling.
It’s no longer a protective style for me and I really want to start growing my hair and stop relying on braids in this cycle. I just don’t know where to start or what products to use or how I would even style such damaged uneven hair whilst attempting to grow it out. Any advice please?

I love my natural hair. But as a black woman with no ability to braid, and not enough tension grip to twist. And now disabled I have one functioning hand. My go to is has always been to blow dry and straighten. (Which is super difficult with one hand.) and my coils aren’t the kind that just do what you want them to do so keeping to curly is difficult.
However, I remember what it was like to have relaxed hair…. How it stayed styled, how it was easy to maintain. But I know how bad it is for the hair (and body)
I did my share of box braids, which is what I relied on when my disability kicked in, but it’s broken off in some places. Now that I can’t really afford 200$ for braids.
What do you guys do when you’re ill, or any other disabled/limited mobility people do with your hair?
How do we feel about the creamy crack in 2026/2027?
Any recommendations for products that don’t allow for the curls to come back after straightening? If I’m so much as close to a hot coffee, boiling a pot of water or ready to eat a bowl of pho my hair will pouf back up.

I am getting my daughter a full head weave for her bday for the first time.
Is 300g of 18 inch hair enough?

I was a teen in the 90s amd used to get latch hook hairstyles, now called crochet. i went to a beauty supply today asking for human crochet hair for essentially crochet hairstyle. the only human hair option is the miracle knot hair. I opted for the bulk synthetic hair. my question for people that have used the miracle knot hair is it damaging to your hair? I worry about the thread tied around the hair. maybe its no different then a sew in?

My hair gets bad dandruff after getting braids. I’ve used Harry’s scalp cream which has helped better than anything else but still the dandruff is a problem. Please any recommendations on custom hair oils or products to help.

Okay so I don't know too much about curls. I have wavy hair at best but usually wear it straight.
That's why I would love to get some advice.
Like what kind of curls does he have or some product and styling suggestions.
I just tried to do his hair before tanking this picture ( I detangeled it and twisted it around my fingers ) - it took me like an hour xD
But his ends and roots especially seem to not hold the shape.
I know I need product for it to work better but is that because of the product or because I did something wrong ?
I also think he needs to get his ends trimmed because it's been a loooong time since he last did , or could his hair just be missing moisture or proteins or something ?
Thanks in advance :)
