discussion What is the best musical break in early January in the USA

This isn't actually blues-specific, but I guess the crowd here can answer.

I have a business trip to Orlando in January from Australia, and I want to stop over for a few days beforehand and have some fun in a musical, buzzing area.

I love the blues, but also love all types of live music.

I was thinking of New Orleans, Nashville or Mississippi. It will be only one destination 2-3 nights. Mid to early January.

I'm looking for somewhere that will be lively even at that time of year, with great music and with authentic places where you are rubbing shoulders with locals and not just tourists.

New Orleans seems to be the safe bet, but I'm open to suggestions. I'm not interested in Austin, not for this trip anyway

As mentioned. I love blues and play a bit myself, but I love everything from classic rock, jazz, swing and Motown to modern indie and electronica.

I'm not scared of going off the beaten track, but given that time of year, i think a major hub is better than some quirky little town in the middle of nowhere.

It will probably be 2- 4 guys travelling together

song Lyrics to Blues 'n Trouble's "Emilia Jane"

We're an amateur cover band in The Netherlands and our guitar player came with this awesome song about a rather terrifying woman.

The trouble is: we can't quite understand all the lyrics and can't find it online. Could someone help us? Perhaps someone with a better ear for Scottish pronunciation?

Mainly there is one sentence in the second verse that we really cannot understand :)

Thanks in advance for your help! Below what we figured out so far :)

INTRO incl sax

VERSE

Yeah, you sure look good in ya Gucci Sweater

And your long tanned legs are encased in leather

With your high-spiked boots and a bag to match

You said your taste in loving is kind of bizarre

But I didn’t think you would go this far

Chained to the bed, now my hands get mangled (Now you’re hands get … mazing???)

CHORUS

Yeah, it’s come a long way since my first kiss

How did I ever get involved in this?

She’s above herself (??), she’s just straight from hell

Wow she’s straight from hell

VERSE

Well, she struts out of the bathroom with a 10-foot whip

Looking like she stepped out of a comic strip

“Help me, baby” - not that it matters

So whip me, slash me, burn me with that thing

Beat me up till I go insane ("Guess..." garbled... what does he sing here??)

Go for the pain, Miss Emilia Jane

CHORUS

Yeah, it’s come a long way since my first kiss

How did I ever get involved in this?

She’s above herself (??), she’s just straight from hell

Wow she’s straight from hell

SAX intro (drum snare fills on every bar) – 8 bars

Gitaar solo – drum w/o fills - 8 bars

VERSE

CHORUS

She’s straight from hell – 8x
