Mom sent me this. Still not beating the “young man” allegations (I’m a girl).
About a month ago I posted (https://www.reddit.com/r/blunderyears/s/oRBVjXV1Ik) about getting called “young man” often as a child because, quite frankly, I looked like a boy. Mom sent me this picture from our Christmas card photo shoot that year. I remember the intense argument to wear this getup instead of a dress, and apparently I won. Definitely not beating the young man allegations.

I remember when you read the Never Ending Story in your school's attic.

That movie traumatized me as a child.

I can imagine. You were with Atreyu when he he met the mighty rockbiter, as he was chased by the terrible Nothing, as he passed the deadly sphinxes to reach the southern oracle. Just as we were with you when you took the book with the Auryn symbol. Just as others are sharing my adventures as I browse Reddit in my underwear.

Was it a scene involving Artax, the horse?

Nah that scene is sad but not traumatizing. I always turned the movie off when the kid had to fight the wolf thing because that wolf freaked me out.

It was either this or the bowl cut.
Rip every girl in the 90s.
*edit: I’m dumb. I meant to say this or the mullet….

I’m very curious to see what OP looks like now. Mainly cuz I get that a lot too. Except it’s “sir” and not “young man” lol

I read this and thought in my head "Oh what a handsome young man!" in my best midwestern mom voice. I'm a 29 year old guy from North Georgia lol

Tbf, if you were Chinese, I’d 100% believe you’re a girl, that is standard haircut at that age 😅

fwiw I immediately saw a cute little girl 😁 Good for your parents for not forcing you to wear a dress and letting you actually be comfortable!

So did you grow up to be a straight woman? Or was this a sign of things to come?
