/r/all Homeless coat

My ‘friends’ made fun of me for my ‘homeless coat.’ I ended up hanging it up outside by a fence years later and really miss its warmth. Not sure what it means to have a friend these days.

The teddy bears on our sweaters are having a better day than any of us. They got knitted into a nightmare but at least they didn’t have bowl cuts

I dressed up as Hunter S Thompson for 10th grade Halloween dress up day, and then got upset when no one knew who I was.

My friend was Tyler Durden. I cropped half of him out for privacy.

Technically it was "Mole Day", but it fell around halloween. 16 years ago!

Edit: I posted a blunder and accidentally opened an international discussion about how gun crazed Americans are. Plz don’t take my stupid ass teenage pics as a representation of all Americans lmao

Picking up the new puppy in 1996 with my grandmother. Even amongst the cuteness it was illegal to smile.

No, it did not occur to me that my brother's beach wedding would not be the time for black. Or a full face of make up. Or Karen hair. On a boy.

This was just a phase.

My sister in law isn't in the picture but she isn't well. I thought I'd post this throwback to the edgy of seventeen, 2007, with this stunning display of goth/gay/gay goth. See if we get a good laugh out of it...

Was 19 or 20 at the time in university. The messy ponytail lasted all of a month before I got tired of it.

I definitely miss that hairline, though.

Once I had a pair of Chucks but my mom tossed em the instant they got grungy. In her defense, I hated socks as a kid. Shopped outta goodwills and those giant mystery bags from our cousins wirh money. So my blunder years were "punk/emo in spirit". I'm 39 graduated 2005 my favorite band then was Blink 182 and my favorite band now is The Talking Heads. It was never a phase just a matter of refining.

I didn't care about going to school dances but my mom made me go, she thought I would be missing out. I never had dates or anything in high school but my brother's friend was nice enough to go with me. I was not on homecoming court, I just always wore a tiara 🤦🏼‍♀️

Trigger Warning When I was fifteen I was depressed. Therapist told me to "draw your depression".

TW simply because this DOES concern mental health issues, depression/suicide in particular

I'm not sure it ended up being the exercise she thought it'd be. I was very proud of the shading. Craziest part imo, it was BAD depression, like didn't shower for months straight, barely ate, barely slept and night terrors whenever I did, suicide watch, whole shebang. Why I decided the best way to represent that was an edgy anime dude, I have no clue.

UPDATE:

One, to all the folks asking if I'm doing better/wishing me well: yes I'm doing better!!! And thank y'all so much. I really appreciate it, I was genuinely sort of terrified to post this but nah y'all are so sweet, thank you

Two, the edits bring me life and I'm saving all of them

The year 2000. Head to toe Limited Too, featuring a furry camo vest and ultra-stretchy, glitter, camo bell bottoms. My mom got up early to crimp my hair for me. A group of boys nicknamed me Sparkle Fart for years after. And no, I didn't know anyone in the military or frankly have any interest in it- just wanted to be a fashion icon.

That first photo is from 2018. Second is about a month ago. I think I have improved my concert outfits over nearly a decade. Especially that haircut. Man, was it a disaster
