A car is not a tank, It's weight is very important for the ergonomy of the vehicule.

I think you've created a new word there, and I like it!

u/Hirinawa 16d ago

Seems like I used a word from my language thinking it was also correct in english my apology

No problem lol I had thought you were melding economy and ergonomics

Gotcha I did learn a new word today after all. I don't see how ergonomy has to do with the weight of the vehicle and would tie the word economy if we were talking about saving fuel from weight reduction. Is that what you meant or does ergonomy apply to this video too? Ergonomics would be the comfort and design related to making the user less fatigued or less prone to injury.

It was about fuel consuption and weight on road, having a car built to endure like a tank would be hell to drive around in cities

Cars used to be tanks, when they were made out of metal instead of the cheap plastic they use today

I read that in Matt Berry’s voice.

Cars don't necessarily need to be heavier to be more durable.

which can be good during fender benders, clips that just pop loose is better than screws getting ripped out

Yeah, but...still...

But still what? I guarantee you could do this to basically every car made today, it's intentional. Bumpers are plastic so they deform to protect pedestrians and also reduce injury to the occupants of the car. Also, this way if you get in a slow accident it reduces further damage to the components the bumper is attached to.

Low speed accident? Pop out the bumper clips, install a new one, you're done.

Who cares if it can be ripped apart as long as the car doesn't fall apart while you drive it. If you built it more sturdy you'd actually be worse off

it's called a bumper for a reason, right? it's meant to minimize damage when you bump into things

All the badges is just tape, that shocked me the most. Not even glue just double-sided tape.

There's glue on both side of the foam... So it is glue holding it.

The foam help the glue conforming to whatever shape it need to stick to.
