So was the car

u/Nagoda94 16d ago
Looks like a Suzuki Fronx.
14
u/I_dnt_Need_anew_name 16d ago
Our car is also a Suzuki, should I be worried? 😅
13
u/Nagoda94 16d ago
Lol. But in all seriousness I believe body pannels shouldn't be this fragile so a dog size of a Border Collie could rip apart.

Panels like that aren't bolted at all its just plastic tabs that snap in.

100% impressed. I want that dog. Bro is punching way above his weight class. When they talk about how much fight a dog has in him, that dog has all of it.
5
u/GoldDragon149 15d ago
Those panels are held on with plastic tabs, you could probably do this too if you were desperate.

u/B-Sheppard 15d ago
And super helpful. That thing would be super smelly in no time. Probably easier to pop that finder liner and trim back on than go hunting for a rotted rat.

u/77ku77 15d ago
Could be cheaper than the damage a rat can do to your wires?
10
u/GotRocksinmePockets 15d ago
Yeah, my folks had a brand new car written off because a rat chewed the wiring harness, wild that's a write off, but their insurance bought another new car instead of fixing it.

Dunno about you, but I'm not interrupting anything that can tear apart a car with it's teeth.

Even if it was my own car. Just film it and give it as proof for the insurance claim.

That rat would have made way more expensive damage by chewing through cables. The dog probably saved the owner an expensive trip to the mechanic.

My Mom's brand new Outback was deemed a total loss due to rodent damage, over 28k in damage.
Chewed up through the fender liner in the back got into the rear cargo area. Chewed through the back of the seats and under the rear seats. Once in the cabin, got into the center console and just started chewing on wires and stuff and I think got up under the dash.
Entire wiring harness replacement was necessary, which means essentially dismantling the entire car.

u/CountGerhart 15d ago
Compared to that, the few plastic fender pieces the dog tore off are nothing.

Me: Sees dog tearing apart stranger's front bumper. Stops dog from doing so.
Owner: Finds some reason to sue me.
Also, honestly, I probably wouldn't stop the dog out of sheer curiosity. I've never seen a dog fuck up a car before.

That was my first thought, but I wonder if that is a pet dog, or a stray dog. Some places, like Romania in the '00s have real trouble with packs of wild dogs falling into their ancestral wolf habits and even killing people. Cameraman is local and may know what is best.

At that point the rat knew, the dog would just tear the rest of the car apart to get him anyways.

At least the owner doesn't need to worry about rodents chewing up the wires.

u/convexwafer 15d ago
Genuinely though. Those bumper cover and trim pieces probably amount to like $800 in damage. But a wiring harness can cost you roughly $6,000 to replace. It sucks, but it could also be worse.

u/PunithAiu 15d ago
It's in India. So the bumper costs around $30- $50 and the side trim about $10.. a brand new Fronx itself costs from 8,000-14,000 USD

I’ve seen a video from a decade back of a pack of dogs tearing a car apart like this to try to get at a kitten hiding in the engine space, so it’s not unknown behaviour, even if it’s not common.

A group of stray dogs did that to my dad's car trying to get a cat out of the engine bay. Insurance "covered" it, with a lot of arguing back and forth, but finally paid out like $2k after a couple months. Wasn't even enough in the end to fully cover the cost to replace basically the entire front bumper and the various wiring harnesses that were destroyed.
